I was reading ZUN's comments on his musical compositions the other day, and found myself struck by the eloquence of the following passage, in which ZUN tells us a bit about his own beliefs. The following is taken from ZUN's comment on "Border of Life", from the PCB Afterword.

It's particularly interesting to hear this sentiment expressed in PCB, i.e. before IN. I think it makes the thematic connection between the different types of 'immortality' presented in PCB and IN clearer, though my understanding of it all is still rather hazy (to recapitulate: Yuyuko is a ghost who cannot reincarnate due to her mortal body being used to seal the Saigyou Ayakashi - she lies outside the cycle of reincarnation and in a sort of limbo dual to the limbo referred to in the quote. Kaguya of course imbibed the Hourai elixir, though oddly enough her punishment for doing so was to be exiled from the 'Pure Land' of the Moon to the impure world of Earth).

I wonder if ZUN is elsewhere as open about his own beliefs - maybe in some other of his music comments?

I've noticed that ZUN has a strange obsession about whether his music sounds 'eastern' or 'western'. When I write music, I never go for regions, but for how the song itself sounds. I'm not good enough to control what the user feels when hearing it, though...

off topic: has anyone found a remix of the song playing when fighting the 5 orbs in Touhou 2?

I noticed the Eastern/Western thing in his music comments too. I think it's interesting ZUN is thinking about this, as well as other aspects of the song (style, pace, how it goes with the stage/character/danmaku, what feelings it invokes). I feel like this is something ZUN does that many other game designers don't focus on (well it might not be their focus for the game, while it definitely is for ZUN, so all's forgiven

). And this is why I love Touhou music. Listening to the music always brings back the same emotions and imagery I experienced when I first heard the music in the game, which is what makes it special.

I'm not buying an entire CD for the sake of hearing one song that might not even be good. alot of the songs can be found on the three prismriver collections. I'm not even sure why anyone could expect to make money without someone being able to hear their songs first.

today i was watching that old Carl Sagan thing "Heaven and Hell" about comets,Venus etc and suddenly he speak about how an astronomical spectroscopy was able to analize the Venus atmosfere and show the composition of the surface. And i think "wow, with a rainbow you can analize and discover chemical composition and...wait. THAT is why Rinnosuke was interested in the "camera of dragons" maybe? with the espectrum and use it well, would turn better his own hability or combine it with magic and...

Reisen and Rikako: You see, Rikako's hair is like Reisen's, she is wearing a doctor coat and Reisen is supposed to help Eirin. Take a GOOD look at Rikako's hand. If it wasn't in that place....wouldn't it look like a gun?
Kaguya and Kotohime: Both wear a kimono. Princesses. Kotohime means "little rabbit princess". Do I have to say anything else?
Chiyuri and Keine: Chiyuri's tittle "Resident of fantasy that runs through time". Keine can control history. "Kitashirakawa" and "Kamishirasawa."
I think I see some resemblance in Ellen's childish attitude and Tewi, but I don't have anything else to say.

I know this has been said before, but the first time that I noticed the faint image of Mokou in the background during a spell card, I freaked out. I noticed this while watching a replay of one of my spell practice runs through Possessed by Phoenix. During a quiet part, with no bullets on screen, I looked back at the mesmerizing swirling pattern in the background and suddenly noticed.......MOKOU'S FACE AHHH!!! It's a little creepy. Even as she disappears during the spell card, she's there...........watching............

The max damage the damage counter in Hisoutensoku can count is somewhere between 32000 and 33000 (but I guess it is 32767)
If a single combo does do over 33000, then the damage counter will actually decrease from the max damage

Thankfully, that kind of damage will ~~rarely~~ never happen in a real battle.

I did it with Fantasy heaven, four control rods on each player, and the weather must be drizzle or typhoon with auto-heal

I noticed that a person below that comment Drake linked to said patchy was anemic/asthmatic. those are COMPLETELY different things. and it has nothing to do with whether remilia would take her blood or not.

The Prismriver Sisters and the Three Mischievous Fairies both share a Sun-Moon-Stars motif, yet I don't think I've seen any fanart or the like capitalizing on it yet. Though it's probably only a matter of time now that Great Fairy Wars is out.
