Died near the end of "Hell's Tokamak". In my defense, it's been a while since I've fought Utsuho, but come on, it's an easy card. At least I didn't die on "Ten Evil Stars" or something. :V

Something is wrong here...
What's wrong is that you've failed Medoteko a third of the time. :(

Spoiler:
and then I read the rest of your post. but that card never takes more than 3 or so waves with ReimuB for me

When i went for VoWG timeout i bombed pretty much every spellcard to get to VoWG as fast as possible. No, what is wrong is: How 60 VoWG caps + timeout in 250 runs when there is only 30 captures of Source of Rains in 250 runs? Isn't that spell supposed to be easy?

After some recent success, I'm poking around to see which extra stage boss I should rough up next. NOT going so well. My best bet would probably be Flandre if I could stop dying at dumb moments. My next bet would be Nue if her stage didn't drive me nuts. 'Course when you die FOUR TIMES on her lame-ass second spell card, why even bother trying? I've no idea how I accomplished that. I am my own worst enemy when it comes to that junk. Can't I just get UFO collision insurance?

That statement is false.

EoSD, IN, MoF and SA Stage 1-3 = Easy.
PCB = Easy.
The rest of the stages? Not that bad mainly with a few exceptions.
UFO = Only hard Touhou game.

And UFO and Cave demonstrates well that i have no actual skill whatsoever. Its just the majority of Touhou that in fact is so easy that you can beat Lunatic without skill.

Of course this statement will be rejected by people. But as long as things like Ketsui URA or DOJ 2nd Loop exists it will remain true. :V

MOF and SA is an easy game.
UFO is easy. Only problem is the mass amount of bullshit clipdeath.
There is less clipdeath in the earlier games since raymoo moves slower. And StB is clipdeath festival i swear (hello aya's focused speed, why are you faster than sakuya!?! GET SOME FREAKING BRAKES DAMMIT. Thank god camera focusing).

I realize that you are new to Touhou but the games aren't really any difficult at all at anything below Lunatic. Once again viewing it in a broader perspective than Touhou games alone.

UFO is easy yes. On Easy, Normal and Hard. On Lunatic its not. Well. Not for me anyway. Compared to a lot of shmups out there it is though its not that hard.

Ehemm... and about StB. The game does have pretty poor controls but its something you can get used to. Once you get that out of the way controls shouldn't really bother you that much until the spellcards start to get really dense.

I wonder how easy would UFO be if every single bullet sprite wasn't so goddamn annoying

Well there'd still be loads of memorization and some stupid stuff.

memorization is a lot more fun when there isn't a load of blinking shit in your face

You're kinda right. I played DoDonPachi and suddenly i didn't mind having to figure out how to deal with those tanks in Stage 4. Come to think of it, i didn't really mind memorization that much in the rest of the games either.

So i suppose its like this; Memorization makes the game easier for you if you like the game and makes playing a game you don't like even more dreadful.

It's a good thing UFO doesn't have much memorization in it, being a man game and all.

Except that it does. But that's the case for a lot of Touhou games. The difference is just that the rest of the Touhou games are so easy that you don't notice it as much.

the main difference that you have to memorize to get a ton of lives in UFO, while other games puke extends by default

You blink in UFO lunatic
YOU DIE
*blink*
Shit did i just get raped on stage 2? (lunatic, hurrr)
I clip less stuff on the earlier games but input lag (hurr) causes deaths due to reduced reaction time (Vsync doesn't work in crossover btw)
MOF is my chance for Runatique modo 1cc but i need to STOP FRIGGING MESSING UP STAGE 1 and HOLY CRAP AYA STOP RAPING ME (more the stage than aya though D:)

This is actually incredibly discouraging to say to someone, especially since difficulty is generally a subjective thing. One man's Normal is another man's Lunatic.

OT, I completely forgot Murasa's third card existed today and spent a good ten seconds baffled and wondering what the hell was going on :(

One man's Medoteko is another man's VoWG
 :derp:

Also is UFO st4 so trivial compared to 3 and 5 because there aren't blinking bullets? :V

I am not out to critize anyone's lack of skill since not even I can call myself skilled at shooter games. I'm just saying what i find to be the truth.

That's the lesson i learned from UFO.

And i don't find it that discouraging. Touhou is still a nice stepping stone to learn basic danmaku skills and if you find it challenging then that's just a good thing.

Hurr, it is always the same.

I survive VoWG for 90 seconds or so, then I die once. Then I die 1~3 times in the following 20 seconds. Then I finish normally.

It is like getting hit once completely destroys my zen or something.  :derp:

I can relate to that. Happened on my last 1cc. Almost had a VoWG cap to top it off with but then i went ahead and got myself killed twice in 15 seconds. Nice.

I guess you kinda lose the rhythm.

So I discovered that picking up all green UFOs nets you a full stock of bombs before you even get to Ichirin! sweet! now I just gotta learn not to crash into shit again as I relearn my new stage patterns! awesome!

I'm usually not one for stuff like card timeouts, but there's been so much talk about Jade River lately, and it's such a fun card, I figured I'd give it a shot. So I get down to about 5 seconds remaining, and I figure I've got it made. So what happens? I space out, stop streaming the current river, and retreat to bottom-center. Final result: 1DNB, death at 0 seconds. :V

In Super Marisa World, I stand on the edges of pits, then attempt to jump over them, then promptly die due to my idiocy in forgetting to start running to build up speed first.

Was doing a not-so-good th128 extra run.
0 lives, 0 bombs at the end of the survival spell card.
But then I noticed I was at the top-right part of the screen.
I didn't even have to look to know the outcome.

It beats dying to the last spellcard, though.

So I gave no bombs MS lunatic a try.

- Restart stage 1 like eight times because I kept dying, including to Sara.
- Perfect first three stages. (yaaaaaaaaawn)
- Die four times in stage 4, two of which on Mai. I have the hardest goddamn time with this stage for some reason and it's not because of visibility issues either (which there aren't).
- Perfect stage 5, die three times to Yumeko.
- Continue
- Perfect stage 6

what is this i don't even

I think it's just the sheer length of the stage. I always made stupid mistakes thinking it's over during brief pauses only for it to go on for like, another 2 minutes or so...
