>Go into Usami Investigations and greet anyone inside.
>Ask information about the shrine in the forest.

>You head inside, and see Maribel is at the computer. "Oh, hello again, Utsuho. What can I do for you?"
>You ask her about shrine in the forest. "Oh, that story!" she says. "We've been meaning to investigate it, but we've not really gotten the time for it. Or, really, the nerve. We're pretty sure there is someone who lives out there, though, if the stories are right. Someone has to run the shrine. What we've always wanted to do is try to catch that person when she comes to town, you know? I mean, she can't be growing all her own food, and she's got to have a mailbox and stuff."

I thought there wasn't much special about it, just follow the worn trail til you reach the place- at least, that's the impression I got from the person named Yukari who lives near this building."

>"Well, sort of," says Maribel. "We know a few places where it might be."
>She gestures toward the map. "See those three brown pins in the woods? We're pretty sure its at one of them."

>Actually, seeing her again, you're really noticing the similarities. They could pass for mother and daughter in a heartbeat.
>You didn't actually draw them last time, you just noted locations. But you keep the sketch on a separate page.
>"Renko's always been the one to keep track of directions for us. But I guess you could use a compass or a GPS?"
>You pour over the map a bit more. There's quite a few pins in it; you are certain the colors mean something, but you have no idea what.
>"Oh. The blue, white, and yellow ones are for our mundane jobs. Blue means we've confirmed a thing, yellow means we've yet to look into it, whites are currently active.. Red pins were false leads on extranormal activity. Green are leads we've yet to check. Browns are ones we've only got a vague idea on.
>You hadn't. There are too many.
>They are.
>"One of Renko's projects is to try and reproduce various talismans from the Moriya Shrine. I keep telling her they don't work like that, but she's hellbound to exhaust all the possibilities here."

>"Well, don't go spreading it around, and you're obligated to contact us immediately if you actually find something."
>Actually, there was only one red pin you noted, near the gas station, so five overall. You see about a dozen other red ones, and five other green ones. There are a few browns scattered about.

>You quickly find that the map is too complicated for you to reproduce accurately on this scale. And it would take a lot of time. You content yourself with writing down general locations.
>"The two green ones at the Military Base and the Research Institute should be obvious. There's all kinds of stories about those. The green one at the Museum is new; we've heard one of the recently obtained artworks is haunted. That green one in the Skids, that's supposedly where you can see some weird animal when the moon is new; we were hoping to check it out tonight. The one in the park is where there's rumors of mysterious figures going in and out of the woods there. And that one in the industrial park is where there is rumored to be a sorcerer of some kind. We've not really had time to investigate it at all. If it's all the same to you, I'd rather not go into the red ones. They're a bit embarrassing sometimes..."

>"They're supposed to be really effective," says Maribel. "So Renko is trying to find out if it's the writer, the writing, or where it is written. I tell her it doesn't work like that, but...well..." She shrugs.
>Many people wouldn't think it to be wise to be in the skids in the middle of the night. But you're smart enough to know better, the Skids really aren't that bad, the worst you'll find is a drunk looking for trouble. There's worse things you could do.

>Check time.

>Thankfully, there is a bus stop not too far from Usami Investigations, and you are able to be on your way shortly. You nod politely to the greenhaired bus driver with a rather cute side-ponytail, and make yourself comfortable, having the bus to yourself. You spend the time with your textbooks; and you think you're slowly starting to make some progress untangling the jargon.
>You step off the bus at at 10:47 or so.
>You are Downtown. The streets as busy, while faceless people travel the old cracked sidewalks, barely paying anyone else any attention. Large buildings tower over you. You can see the Museum and City hall to the west. To the east is First Gensokyoan Bank. North you can see office building you can't identify. Obvious exits are North, South, East, and West.

> Head south.

>You go south!
>Following the busy street, you soon see the Hospital come up. It is a sizable white building, several stories tall, with a well-maintained yard in the front of it. Still, despite its pleasant exterior, it has a sterile aura about it that that makes you feel slightly uncomfortable. Opposite of the Hospital, you see what looks like a park. Thick, leafy trees shroud you from seeing further into it, while a wooden fence runs along the sidewalk to keep the plant life in check. Still, just from a glance, it seems that these trees have been here since before the city was built. Glancing through them, you can see a wooden building beyond. You can see a dirt path leading in, with a plastic signboard beside it advertising a dinner this weekend at 8 PM. Obvious exits are East, West, North, and South.

> Follow the dirt path.

>You head east and follow the dirt path.
>The sounds of the city are quickly blunted by the trees, and it feels almost like you've left it entirely behind. There's a fair amount of birdsong, and a noise you really can't identify. You follow the trail a little ways, until you find a large wooden building, looking like something from a storybook. It is only a story tall, but its wide, sweeping roof makes it seems so much larger. A shimenawa hang on from the eaves, while the main supports bear carvings of fantastic creatures. You see a stone water basin off to the side. Beside the entrance to the shrine, you can see a donation box. Opposite of the basin is a chest of drawers, which you image are for drawing fortunes, and a tree nearby with several of the fortunes tied to it. A crow perches on the drawers; the red tint to her wings tells you this is Elly, one of your regulars. She watches you curiously. You note that many of the trees here are wrapped with shinenawa as well. In the back, you can see a pond. Obvious exits are North, East, and West.

>Proceed to the large wooden building.

>You toss some birdseed on the ground. Elly descends on it with a happy caw and begins to gobble it up like a little feathery piglet. She's probably pleased you didn't make her do any tricks for it this time.
>You start to approach the shrine, with a tall woman with wide blue hair steps out. She wears a rather simple red shirt with long sleeves, and a dark dress that sweeps close to the ground. She smiles at you and says, "Don't mind me, now."
