How much have you actually already accomplished with this? Are you skilled at the hacking work? Do you have a sprite-worker, and have you done this before? Just interested queries, I always like fangame edits.

Yes, I think I've made a definite decision on my character.

I will be a Shaman (I just love them and their promotions. And Canas was the best character of FE7 :V), however, I'm an enemy you'll need to recruit. Talking to me with a Lord or a specific character (like Thundr) will convince me to join the party. Like most Shamans I would already be quite high level (about level 8 ) once you find me, appearing around Not!Eliwood chapter 10 or so.

As an enemy I may be a member of one of the evil organizations, like the Librarians or the dark magic forces of the Rinperium. Me and the other dark magic enemies will have Morphs of Soldiers and Archers around them. These Morphs require a hard and tedious process to be created, so once I join I will be unable to create these Morphs anymore (unless you can hack the 'Summon' skill from FE8 in the game, then I could use weaker versions in combat like a Summoner :3). Another alternative is that one extra chapter will have certain hidden spell components or scrolls that will allow my character (assuming you made me join) to create a perfect Morph. This Morph will then join the party as a normal, growing unit. I'm not sure who the Morph will be. Anyone could apply for the Morph role if they want, along with a class. Or the Morph character starts out as a Trainee-esque class, and depending on which promotion you give him/her (s)he'll get a different class.

I'm too busy to make stats right now. I'll come back on that later.

Bard where the HELL have you been.

I worked in fangame hacks before, but I MYSELF wasn't part of the actual editing >_> I was admin/writing/other stuff. Though I did have a modicum of editing under my belt, that was before the days of Twilk's awesome parsers >_>

You are correct.  Yggdra Union was an awesome game...as long as you used Shadowchaser's FAQ and didn't mind the RNG flipping you the bird every so often.  Oh, and as long as you didn't try to fight on Battlefield 13.

I get one hit, and I make it count. Also I slashed a bit of the Brigand's normally astronomical HP and pushed it into defenses, so I get pretty tankish as the game goes on (since everybody and their mother will be doubling on me). I probably won't actually be coming in at level 1, you can put me wherever and scale my stats using averages. Does this look alright?
 
Plot-wise, I challenge people to battles and take their food if they lose. I fancy myself as some kind of chef. I don't really give a crap about the war but I'm easily bribed with meat.

As a side note, messing around with the utilities a bit, making graphics and units seems easy enough, but it seems it's actually kind of aggravating to make custom maps. We have people who actually have hex editing skill, right?

Oh, hey, that's pretty nice! The tone is interesting: the Lords and reps sound very disconnected, as if they don't care about their kingdoms much and this is all tedious formality to them. Of course, this could well be intentional, and a pretty good tone choice for it.

If it proves to be too annoying to hack the rom into oblivion, it might be possible to replicate the FE engine in RPGMaker or something?

Well from my reasearch FEditor advance isn't working for me. The Huffman Patch appears to have the most freedom but is harder to use while the Parser requires all Text to be near the same length as the original.

Now i'm leaning Huffman Patches unless I figure out FEditor Advance

So I just tried that FEditor thing, and text editing is amazingly simple with it! I'm not sure if it has text limitations yet. I tried adding in a bunch of junk lines and it seemed to work just fine though.

After changing the text, you clicked the apply button then File-Save, right? Because if you don't click apply nothing happens. : P

Edit:

Text editing and portrait insertion/palette editing with FEditor is working!

Edit again: I found an event assembler! It looks really hard to use though. :S
