I think it'd be interesting if there were a character who, underneath their seeming to be a dick, is still actually a dick. They fight against the Big Bad because the Big Bad's dickery is overshadowing their own, or somesuch.

I contemplated this, but we lacked a thunder bird, an evil tower, and an exploding home village to properly catch the feel. Besides, I'm not about to have a delusion I'll get more than a second or two of talking time.

Oh and I guess Sana would have trouble writing for that. I don't think he'd do heroic sociopath too well. It is harder to do than you think, and I don't think we've a writer here who could do more than ad hoc it.

And would one of those arguments be "but that difference in underlying motivation is a primary reason for the playables distinction?"

It's an important point to consider, guys, but don't feel too pressured to change up your characters solely due to this point. Making such flaws more noteworthy might not be a bad idea, but it doesn't have to be a big shift.

That's pretty much one of the reasons, yes. FE thrives on the noble-friend-and-ally archetype, and there is nothing wrong with that. Hence I'm not judging anyone's character poorly based on that observation. It's just that - an observation.

But, indeed, there are also a few exceptions, mostly among the brigand/berserker-type PCs, and, as you said, your own guy.

I have a request.

I'm supposed to be the merchant, right? Would it be possible to program the merchant so that any time a Pegasus Knight talks to him, he immediately attacks them with a bow, while shouting "ARROW'D!" I think this would do a lot to keep the merchant from being too useful.

Also because Peg Knights are made to be Arrow'd, as we can all agree.

If you're saying that I should be a Knight now instead of a Wyvern Rider it's not happening. I was the first person who signed up as a Wyvern Rider. That's the class I wanted to be not a knight.

However... if you're suggesting I be the character who underneath their seeming to be a dick, is still actually a dick then I think we might need to have a little talk Nobu~

Purvis you don't need to be able to attack beeing the Merchant makes you either A: Highest Tier or B: In your own Tier.

Either way it's still extremely good.

This is true, but it galls my guts that some goddamned peg knight might come up to me and not get riddled full of arrows.

This makes me think. Are there any characters in our bunch who aren't strong and reliable despite their possible flaws? I mean, sure, that's the making of a heroic character, but I think it'd be interesting if there were a character who, underneath their seeming to be a dick, is still actually a dick. They fight against the Big Bad because the Big Bad's dickery is overshadowing their own, or somesuch.

This is pretty much what I had intended in the first place for my character.  No need to go all Knights of the Old Republic II and have the cast be a collection of dysfunctional psychopaths, but I do agree that one or two could be interesting.

Please realize that this is FE, so it's doubtful that your character will get characterization outside of "here's a quirky personality trait!"

With the talk of whether we have too much of this or too little of that, I decided to take a look at the numbers and see what we've got.  I got my numbers from the spreadsheet.  Characters above level one were deleveled by applying their growth % backwards, and had the resulting base stat taken as their approximate level 1 stat.  I've excluded Toast's stats because he posted them while I was already halfway done, and I've excluded Fightest's base stats, but not his growth %, because I'm not sure what level those stats are supposed to be for.  Lots of numbers ahead.  Skip to the end if you just want my conclusion.

HP (lvl 1):

tl;dr Our Speeds are way too high and our Defenses and Resistances are way too low.  Ideally, every stat's mean rating should equal the total mean rating when averaged over all characters.  Trance and/or Sana should either adjust stats across the board, or else adjust them on an individual basis to be more appropriate to the class that each character has chosen.  As things stand, everyone's trying to have a uniquely high speed and low def/res, which means that no one's speed or defense or resistance ends up being unique at all.

This stat skew is also a valid complaint compared to the stat setups used in the main FE games, I assume? Because it's good to have a baseline to compare off of.

I'm not sure my thiefy setup can contribute to reducing that... or can it? As the primary hit for combat speed value for an extra MOV, maybe... who knows.
There was something here once. Wonder what...

The problem is that speed is the god stat in FE and everyone knows it, so of course they weight themselves towards it :V

The root problem does not lie in the weighted, biased preferences towards the Speed stat...

Rather, the root problem lies in everyone trying to get classes that are naturally Speedy and Fragile.

I've singled out all the speedy and fragile classes and left only those that are bulky:

Heroes: 1
Cavaliers: 2
Paladins: 2
Knights: 2
Wyv. Knights: 3
Fighters: 1
Brigands: 1
Berserkers: 2
---------------
TOTAL: 14

Playable character total: 37, excluding Jana
Note that my character shouldn't count either technically since she can't attack. Until such time that Dancers and Bards are getting weapon mastery, I'm leaving them as they are until they are changed, then I will adjust accordingly.

Less than 40% of the entire playable roster are tank-ish classes at all.

I've already stressed a severe lack of tank classes.

Ok, I finally managed to grab the computer and get past the heat in my house... the very next day after I said i would update D:

3 things I need to ask. 1, how do I alter the character sheet so it has me on it AND you can see that? 2, I have 0 idea what my stat growths are, just what the %s are, so I'll need help with that. 3, what would my class and promote class be, for the character sheet? I am a FE newb, having only beaten Lyn's story mode in that FE, and almost beaten part of Radiant Dawn, and I also have never promoted a unit in either game.

Edit: I have my stuff ready to add, but I have no clue what I am doing. Can someone please explain?

Edit 2: I figured it out. My stats are up, enjoy! :3

I thought high speed + low def was the archetype for monks :x Though my def isn't actually that low, I used HP and Luck as my dump stats

I kinda want to stay a frail class though, I am not even remotely bulky so I'd be a terrible knight/merc/whatever.

Also, having like four mages seems kinda extreme to me. At least one of those should be a prepromote sage, and the fourth should probably become some other class (btw, axman is the in the OP twice)

Is anyone hugely opposed to removing the class specific Promotion items and limiting it to a single item such as Master's Seal?

And do we really need poison weaponry it's not that good at all.

Also Mine definitely needs to be removed of changed.

Poison weaponry is usually enemy-only and it's more of a nuisance than anything else, but why get rid of it?
