Anyone else picked this up yet? The level of customizability is incredible and I'm getting an old-school vibe that I really like.

I'm told it's very grindey and unintuitive, but that's from a review site that I take with a few barrels of salt. How does it play in your opinion?

I have completed Mugen Kouro and I must say it was a pretty unique experience. I enjoyed it and found it decent for what it was, but eh. It's far from one of the best games I have played. Only thing I truly liked was the philosophy involved in it, it's quite deep. I wonder how well the US version captured it...

Well, let's see. /m/ LOVES IT TO DEATH. I'll put that out there for what it's worth. Second, it's pretty much Legend of Galactic Heroes... THE GAME! Well, not exactly, but close enough.

The ship battles do take some getting used to. There's an in-game tutorial, but it's pretty quick and dirty and you have to play for a little while to really get a feel for how things flow. They are really fun once you know what you're doing, though.

Also, I haven't had to grind at all so far (~10 hours in). I've gotten a few game overs, but it was usually right after being like "oh crap why the hell did I just do that."

I'm slowly getting into this game myself.

I got trashed the first time I got to the first void gate battle. I tried again, upgrading my weapons and it was pretty easy. Then I got trashed by the first random encounter past the void gate before I could make it to the nearest spaceport.
