The Saturn port is more difficult due to the lack of slowdown that the PCB has.

Oh really? I thought it was an arcade perfect port. :V (Come to think of it, when I played the Saturn port it was brutally fast in the later stages.)

I've noticed now, that the ending results screen in Twinkle Star Sprites change slightly depending on your clear time

also got a new time record.. (though lvl 4 AI doesn't survive as long, and likes to spend bombs for no reason :p)

once more, .inp file (made with Wolfmame 0.106)

as for a nomination.. I'd like to suggest Phantasm Romance 2.5 Plus, but even if it was chosen for this week, people would have their attentions turned to TH12.5, and not give much appreciation to the game.. (even if scoring seems to not differ much from surviving. But Varth and Thunder Dragon 2 are like that too, and I liked to play both for score :p) .. especially since the gameplay is similar to Touhou.

I won't be nominating anything for this week, but I'll vote and play, since Giga Wing, TSS and Raiden Fighters Jet have already been suggested, and I'm fine with playing whatever wins the voting (even if it's a game that I've not played)

How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

lusvik: I don't mind about playing HM in japanese. The language of punching other people is international.

You were playing on level 8, now level 4...

how the hell :|

also it seems Ran's clothing is more revealing based on your rank. Very clever, yet entirely unsurprising.

I've used F2 ( in Wolfmameplus 0.106 ) to enter the dip switch config. screen, then changed the difficulty to lvl 8 and saved changes.. (in case you've watched my previous .inp files and is wondering how did I get to that screen :p)

I agree that it's a nice detail (Ran's clothes), it's still fanservice, but nothing vulgar (speaking of Ran, if I were a fanartist, I could imagine Ran cosplaying Ran and vice-versa -- I tend to have lots of random cross over ideas, don't mind me :p)

I know how to change the difficulty :P

I was just astonished with how you can do so well on level 8, then turn around and go straight to rank 1 on level 4 :P I can't even imagine how ridiculous level 8 is.

well, I've spent a lot of time dying playing on level 4, and after getting used to it, the strategy for scoring remains the same: hope you're lucky enough for the first enemies to survive long enough for you to score well on them, then spend lives being killed by Memory while scoring (since the end of game's bonus give you 100k points per life, you would want to score more than that, and you usually do, once you've studied, practiced and memorized most of the stage enemy waves. Even if you die prematurely sometimes.)

Why did I go back to level 4? Because level 8 doesn't waste bombs as soon as I send shining zako (flaming enemies, or small fry) to their screen (most of the times, even Ran and Mevious will waste their bombs on lvl 4 right at the start :p).. sometimes they don't waste their bombs, but the difference in survivability isn't much.. I'd say, the gap isn't like PoFV Normal vs. Lunatic.. (however, I've felt that the game's difficulty rank or speed may vary suddenly depending on your score, or chains, dunno exactly..)
Perhaps learning how to chain the enemy waves demanded more effort from me, than trying to 1cc this game on lvl 4 with that knowledge.. but would still be easier than trying to 1cc without using it..

I'll do a search for where did I get that info.. (and the videos of the stage enemy patterns)

ebarrett: seeing things like this makes Kim Do Kesubei look normal :p (not that I would ever see these endings myself, so soon :p)

this faq from Mikwuyma should explain everything that I would tell you, Matsuri :p (it has more details on, for example, how many chain hits are needed to launch a fiery enemy, or what exactly are the benefits for perfecting stage enemy formations)
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/dreamcast/file/576788/56584

and this link (taken from his FAQ) should demonstrate how to perfect the patterns. I hope that this can help you..

edit: if I had enough money in reserve, I'd like a Black Heart (both versions) and perhaps a Glow Squid, because they make me remind about their boss fights.. (just watched Glow Squid, can defeat Batrider's Black Heart mkII on Special Course, but I get owned by Black Heart on Garegga :p)

Isn't it great?

Also, maybe we can have a double break week (this upcoming week being the second), in honor of Double Spoiler.

let's face it we'll all be playing that anyway

Double Spoiler doesn't count. It's a photography game, not a shooting game.

Anyway, it's not like we can all be at Japan to get it right away.

You haven't even played the game. Maybe Zun fixed what problems there were with StB and it will be even greater than before.

It'll still be better than UFO or EoSD.

Oh, and I'll throw in a nomination for Genetos, because I've barely played the thing.
