If you tell me that I can't customize the controls, I'll shoot you.

You can. Start a game, then press Tab. There should be a controls setting category.

EDIT: 'Input (General)' and 'Input (this game)' to be exact. Use the general options to set up defaults for all games, and use 'this game' if you wanna change the buttons to a specific game.

I'm so cool, I use command prompt MAME.

...sometimes. People have asked me to use MAME32 and MAME32++ nowadays.

for those who may be interested, there's a X-Multiply highscore thread on Shmups.org's forum, it has links to a 1cc, which I used for reference..

anyways, if you're having problems with X-Multiply, let's discuss here, I'll try to help :D

Translations.
How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

I do enjoy the game minus the input lag as a whole though. I DO hope that there will be a difficulty setting in BETWEEN normal and unlimited though. The jump is beyond Touhou easy to lunatic as it stands.
Huh, I never really noticed any input lag, though it might be because of the gamepad I'm using. Anyways, yeah, the difficulty increase in Unlimited is just insane, but maybe that's why I love it.
Yup, still lurking.

well MAME in general has about 2-3 frames of input lag depending on the emulation at hand. Most people don't really care but if you're really trying to push for score then you need every little bit to be on your side.  I don't know what arcade system X-multiply was originally for but I know nfba works with a bunch of systems from the 80s like CPS1, ect ,ect. TBH I've been using MAME for X-multiply myself since I'm pretty bad at it anyway don't think the 3 frames help that much since I end up hitting the ceiling/floor while dodging bullets anyway  :(

No problem, although I will tell one word of warning. If you're the type of person that tends to press F3 a lot out of rage, doing that is going to delete all the saved scores for that respective game. :|

Reading is a very useful skill.

it's said (by other people) that ESP Ra.De, ESP Galuda and Mushi Original are among CAVE's easiest 1ccs; still, some people have more problems on certain games, than other people (to most people, MS is easier than LLS, and to me, it's the opposite :p)

Esprade has that wacky hitbox, st5 and the final boss.
I don't really find Guwange easy either :V

EDIT:
holy crap
so I played progear by Khoa's advice

1 life 1 bomb on stage 3 boss
bombed once, got completely confused by the final attack, passed through a solid wall

stage 4 gives my first extend EVER

died somewhere in the stage, arrived at st4 boss with 1 bomb 1 life...
...and beat him.

St5 nuked me right away. 5,38m score. Pretty bad, but still...atleast I've reached st5 :V

use regular shot to get up ring level
hold shot to generate gems instead of rings once ring level is high enough
release shot to auto collect all gems

or something like that.

St5 seems like the biggest obstacle and the boss is a real dick compared to the loleasy 1-4 ones.

There is a hidden extend on stage 4. After the giant tank midboss, you'll see two more tanks going down towards your direction. You have to destroy the top one first, and THEN the bottom last.

When should I start getting gems instead of rings?
I saved up the multiplier until st3 and I couldn't empty it no matter what I did.
Also, how to make better value gems drop?

You have to know what the highest value ring looks like, which is this.
http://www.world-of-arcades.net/Cave/Progear/item_diamondring.jpg

You have to destroy+cancel enough bullets at once to see these floating around, because the ring value is directly proportional to gem value. If you have the highest ring value stored in your counter, you can trigger the highest value gems at anytime.

Make sure you trigger the chain reaction when you see enough bullets to make the chain of points worthwhile. The moment you trigger it is the moment the ring/gem value resets to the lowest.

EDIT: Goddamn I tried to play Progear again for the first time today. I really freaking suck. I lost all my 8 lives at the last stage w/ 19mil :/

Hotlinking images is against the rules, Khoa. Doesn't work, anyway :/ ~Mats

You start with two lives, your first extend is 3mil, and every extend after that is 4mil after the next. So, 3mil, 7mil, 11mil, 15mil, 19mil, etc.

Also, looping this game isn't as bad as the rest if you have so many lives. To meet the loop requirements, you just don't bomb more than 2 times throughout the entire first loop.
