Haven't tried again yet.

Tried out DoDonPachi. I really didn't like it all that much.

You need to give it a few tries. It underwhelmed me at first, but it's scary how much that game will grow on you. :V

From the Chinese New Year that I spent with my family, I received $220 in addition to the $300 in savings... I wonder what I'll spend it on.....

Um, that's easy. JP X360, Hori EX2 pad, Futari, DeathSmiles, Espgaluda 2. :D

This man speaks the truth. Now excuse me while I crack my head over stage 5's infinite double streaming.

I'm getting tempted as well, and having the money to spare, only one doubt remains: how durable/resilient is a X360? I hear a lot of stuff about overheating, something that doesn't go well with 90 degrees heat on a somewhat regular basis.

ditto except get the Mushihime-sama Futari ver 1.5 stick that Hori made instead of the Hori EX2. It's worth the extra $40 if you don't want to mod the EX2 (which is hard to mod with real arcade parts because the chasis is so shallow. it's doable though) because it comes stock with a Seimitsu LS-32-01. If you want a sanwa stick get the Madcatz TE

I've had super bad luck with my 360s. But it doesn't seem that anyone else has ever had it as bad as me out of everyone I've talked to about it.

I dunno why you'd spend extra to get a J360, hori stick, Futari, ESPGaluda II, and DeathSmiles when all 3 of those games will be playable on a US 360 later this year.

In case Ketsui and DFK won't get a US/region-free release, of course.

I'm half-tempted to just wait and see if Ketsui will be region-free since that's the one I care about most.

Didn't DeathSmiles II also get announced for the 360?

I really hate that you need to buy a separate hard drive for the Arcade unit. MS charges you every step of the way; they're brilliant.

Well, if you only want to play shmups and don't care about DLCs you can realistically get away with the supplied memory card.

*shrug* I don't care much about Ketsui, and hopefully DFK follows the trend :P

I'm really hoping there's a better confirmation out there that ESPGaluda II is region-free. I can't help but doubt Kotaku just a little, especially when I didn't see anything involving region-free-ness on the Asadablog.

how are all you guys so good, this game is impossible lol

Also, is there actually a way to kill that worm midboss thing in stage 3?  I just never seem to damage it enough. :|

Tentacle abuse, pretty much. Also, keep it on the top half of the screen.

Question. If I try to stick to the red-laser powerup, am I doing it wrong?

Also stage 4 is a fucking horrible idea and whoever came up with it needs to be shot.

I should shoot myself as well for voting for it, of course

Spoiler:
I still blame Sapz though

Tried the Plus version of BWR.

Wait actually makes Hell Mode playable for me, though I still suck at it. Made it to stage 3 on one credit but I can't score worth crap. Barely 4cc'd.

Doesn't Plus also require a no miss run to see the TLB? Can't remember if that was true or not. Not like I'd ever 1cc it anyway.

Didn't get the Secret Extend either. Either I missed one of the things like usual or it isn't there in plus.

Yeah I'm not sure just how much more I'm going to bother with X-multiply.  It's all fun and games in the beginning, but as soon as I suffer my first death I just lose all motivation to keep going.  And the first two stages are really fucking long and boring.

edit: DDP. Why the universal hate towards B-anything? I'm kinda liking B-L.

Because it's basically the A ship but with slower speed and weaker damage.

It's also the C ship but with faster speed and more focused damage :V

Except its shot doesn't even come close to the C ship's spread, so in the end you'll probably end up playing it like the A ship anyway.  Which it's inferior to. :V

It does have a fucking BADASS looking laser-bomb though.

It might be better to just do one game every couple of weeks to keep it fresh, actually.

I guess we'll figure it out as we go. I think I'll keep it weekly for now, judging from the amount of frustration this game has already caused :V

I kind of took the idea from Shmups Forum's Annual STGT-- only instead of lasting for a month or two, this will last all year (with maybe a week off here and there). Every part of STGT is broken up into categories, by certain companies, by certain types, or insignificant things such as a game's theme. Last STGT there was a 'Dragon Week' with a bunch of good dragon-themed games.... and Thunder Dragon 2. Guess what won the vote. >_>;

I motion that we do a Hentai Shmup week.
