I haven't been here in a while, and nobody probably remembers me because I never posted much, but I just thought I would post something today.  I might visit more often as well. I want to get better at drawing and any comments and suggestions would be appreciated.

I am not an artist, but that hand is definitely wrong. Either you have her waving to somebody, in which case you need to mirror-flip it; or the palm of the hand is supposed to be facing towards her in which case you should replace the furrows with ridges.  :derp:

Uh, there's something wrong with her body, especially the right side. There's just something that bothers me with the chest down to the abdomen that they don't look...right.

You shouldn't exaggerate the marks on her fingers too much.

Just some quick notes because I gotta go to bed ;_;

Her right hand

Her wrists are too thin
Her shoulders are too tiny. In short, make her arms a little wider.

More specifically on her right hand: Her hand appears to be showing it's palm. The back of the hand should be facing the viewer instead. I think you're trying to add more detail than what's necessary. That, and it's a little too big.

The left side of her torso seems a little off as well (Your left) Again, you should try simplifying the lines... Also give her a bit more hip if you'd like~ ^^

The rest seems fine. I hope this helps~

Thanks for the critiques, guys! Though next time I'd like you to edit the image to show exactly what i did wrong, if possible I'll be sure to lower the detail on the hands.

Thanks for all the notes, they're helpful! but how do i proportion the arms? From what I've seen the arms are supposed to be 1/4 the width of the head, if I'm using the right way.

Before i draw the finer details, I need to know if I did the pose right. It's supposed to be sitting on a diagonal slope, but I think I did it wrong. And yeah it's incomplete, but I'll fix that after i fix the pose

A few things about it:

The neck could be a little wider.
The shoulder is too wide.
The back could a lot less wider.

Obviously I'm not an expert on the subject, but rather than trying to have a "rule of thumb" for each and every set of proportions in the body, it's better to draw people from life and get a feel for what size things should be and how they should fit together. If you can't get someone to pose for you, Posemaniacs isn't a bad place.

That goes for you, as well, Palewolf. Getting feedback is very valuable, but if you try to learn just by correcting what people point out, I think you'll find that the things they point out never end--and correcting them is rarely easy if you don't know what the end result should look like. It can be extremely frustrating :c

Okay my scanner finally arrived in the post, so here's a couple of extracts from my new sketchbook. Please be gentle, I only started drawing two months ago and I know I need to learn body proportions, hands, cloth and how the heck to use photoshop among a crapload of other things, but feedback is certainly welcome.

This Reimu one is drawn from a poseable Reimu figurine I own.

I'm not exactly into figurines but i never thought a drawing made out of them would convert me into a new religion of figma-ism

also more speed vectoring practice i did since i'm trying to go for that sketchy/doodly look that makes it seem the image was done without any effort

That's not really necessary, but thanks. I haven't drawn anything is a week, so this is good motivation. :3 I've found figurines are good practice as you don't need to make a mental image of the character, but you have to convert it into manga style.

I've got a lot more sketches, but as they are only copies of existing images I drew as practice, I don't believe they are worthy to be posted here. Anymore original works will show up here though.
