It takes you a moment to comprehend it, but you think you understand. You didn't just feel the gems on your shoulders, you also felt your shoulders through the gems. It seems you can experience touch through them as well as direct their motion a little bit.

>"Well, I have some ideas, I think. I'm convinced one of them is in the mountains somewhere, it's known that the daughter spent time there, long ago. It might have something to do with the origins of the friendship between humans and kappa, but I might just be filling in the blanks there. I don't think it's been found. The Tengu, the Kappa, or the Moriya Shrine would certainly use it if they could, and not necessarily for its intended purpose. It's possible, I suppose, the Autumn Goddesses may have it, but it seems to be unlikely. I don't think they are even around when it is winter, so I hope not. Chen and I have been searching for it at night for some time now, with no luck. I've avoided asking for help because I didn't want to set off a treasure hunt and risk it falling into improper hands.

>Checking your reflecting, they really are a bit much for your current outfit... Maybe if you were wearing something more ballroom. But they do look like ear decorations rather than free-floating artifacts of considerable power. The gems, curiously enough, are about the same temperature as you are, so they don't feel uncomfortable. Rather like you have your hands on your ears, given you can touch through the gems.
