>You head east and climb the stairs, repressing another shiver.
>You reach the top of the stairs, and find yourself at the gates of the palace. But in truth, there is no actual gate, just an opening in the walls with an arch over it. Looking ahead, you can see a well-maintained courtyard, its paths free of snow and lined with leafless cherry trees. A manor stretches before you, superficially similar in style to Eientei, but much more ornate and much larger. It must cover literally dozens of square miles! Some distance away, rising from the single-story manor, and numerous immense pagoda-style towers. You can only wonder at how many tens of thousands of people could comfortably live here! Three large doors allow entrance to the palace, one each compass point. Obvious exits are North, South, East, and West.

>You step into the courtyard. Suddenly, you are not alone. Youmu stands in the middle of the courtyard, facing you. Her stance is relaxed, but you can tell that she is ready should you try something. She inclines her head in your direction. "Welcome again, Reisen," she says. Her eyes linger on the sword hilt peeking out from behind your backpack for a moment.

>"I...sorta need to talk to you and your mistress about something before I so quickly give you back the sword. I think it would be to the advantage of all involved for us to talk before agreeing to anything"

>Youmu quirks her lips a bit, and tries not to frown due the hopes you obviously just dashed. "She is reading at the moment. I'll take you to her."
>She leads you into the palace by the southern entrance. You very quickly lose your way as she leads you through opulent hallway after opulent hallway. Peeking into some of the rooms as you pass them, you find bedrooms, galleries, courtyards, libraries, and rooms you cannot begin to name, all of them devoid of people. However there are quite a few ghosts floating about, going about their spectral business.
>Shortly, Youmu brings you to a sitting room with filled cushions and low couches. Youmu reclines on a pile of pillows, studying a scroll of some sort. She looks over as the two of you enter, and regards you curiously. "Youmu," she says at length, "You've allowed an armed intruder into my presence! I'm shocked!"
>"She wishes to speak with you, Yuyuko-sama," says Youmu, as if Yuyuko never commented. "about the fate of my blade."
>Yuyuko gestures to one of the cushions. "Please, come in and be comfortable Reisen. I hope you enjoy the winter snow as much as the summer's."

More specifically, she wanted me to steal a painting from you all, for...well, whatever you did to her previously. I don't like that idea. But I'd also rather not further the fighting and get dragged into it..."
>"What I propose is I trade this sword for at the very least a painting...and maybe your word that you won't counter Remilia so we can avoid yet ANOTHER incident in addition to the Byakuren/Reimu fight?"
>"Of course, if you accept this trade, we all have to pretend I stole it from you. Well, more specifically, some mysterious thief stole it from you and you are after their blood. If you could conveniently ignore the possibility Remilia is behind it, that'd be best for all involved."
>"So...what say you? I understand this is a lot to ask of you...but to at least help preserve the peace of Gensokyo will you consider my request?"

>"My, aren't you the schemer," says Yuyuko.
>"I'm not sure if I completely follow..." says Youmu.
>"It's simplicity itself, Youmu dear," says Yuyuko, reaching out to tousle Youmu's hair in a manner eerily similar to how Kaguya does to you. "Remilia wants revenge for our little escapade during the fall."
>Yuyuko looks at you. "You're quite confident that we won't choose to simply reclaim Hakurouken, aren't you? Youmu does have an ancestral bond to it. And she's so very distraught over it." She smiles. "But that is not how civilized people act. I expect you'll want something for your own trouble? Or perhaps your silence?"
>She produces a fan, and places the tip of it to her lips. "It would be quite interesting if Remilia asked you to do all this, simply to so you could expose it and embarrass us." She chuckles, covering her lower face with the fan.
>Youmu looks confused. You suspect she's given up understanding and is just waiting to know what her role in things will be.

>"Proving good intentions are hard, aren't they?" says Yuyuko, as she lounges back on a pillow. "Perhaps you could fight my gardener and prove your pure intentions by letting them carry you to victory."
>Youmu stands. "I will not ask you for my blade back, but I would ask that you set it aside"
>Yuyuko giggles. "That was a joke, Youmu."

> Say this with a slight smile.

>"Hmmm. Any precious oath will do. Loyalty, life, whatever is precious. Just do keep in mind that if you break it, I have full intentions of removing what you pledged. Or if you could provide a Lunarian beverage, and I really would prefer that I'll have you know, I'm not picky."

>Could we even GET drinks from the moon...? Perhaps are there some at Eientei, or Eirin would know how to make one?

>You don't know of any lurking about Eientei. You could see Kaguya keeping a secret liquor cabinet for special occasions, but that's not really likely. You suspect Eirin probably knows how to make a few, but getting the ingredients would be a problem, and brewing is not a speedy process at all.

>"Excellent!" says Yuyuko. "Hearing such things declared is always lovely, don't you agree? Nowthen, Youmu should be back in a few moments."
>True to Yuyuko's word, Youmu returns to the sitting room after a few moments, bearing a sizable Blue Gem, cut into a classic diamond shape, and a framed picture. The Blue Gem seems to be about the same size as the Red Gem you possess. Yuyuko motions to Youmu to hand it to you. It feels very much like a gem should, although it is a little lighter than you anticipated. You aren't sure if it's actually a sapphire, but geology isn't something you're too aware of.
