IN makes my left hand hurt.
« on: January 19, 2010, 05:46:25 PM »
This is not a troll thread.

Does anyone have an idea why does my left hand(I'm left handed so it's my control hand) always get completely numb during IN stage 5?

I can play as much Cave as I want(3 hours of Dodonpachi without any breaks), try to force my way through UFO lunatic for 60+ continues and my left hand is completely fine.
But once I try IN, somewhere in st5 or early st6 my hand gets completely numb every single time.

Is it somehow more exhausting than other shmups for some reason?

I know what you mean, it happens with me on my right hand, my movement hand.  I've noticed it before, but never really thought about it.

I find its because its where focus/shot is.

You can dodge all you like, But those buttons really end up being the ones that screw you over if you mess up on.

Obviously it's because of Reisen and her lunatic red eyes.

Srsly, i'm not much help, since I use a controller and i've never noticed that hand numbing thing. :(

Now that I think about in, IN is mostly about micrododging. Might be because of that.

Cool down with some solo Youmu no-focus runs.

Personally I just find my blood pressure goes up in my fingers when I play touhou. Must be my body adapting to situations.

I'm kinda the opposite, my fingers go cold, to a point where I have to stop playing for a bit for them to warm up again.

Fap more, build up some strength.  :V

Or use the Malice Cannon, keep the blood flowing. Might give you carpal tunnel though.  :-\

I don't seem to have a problem with the shooters unless I've been playing for too long.  Then I get cramps in my hands, and my fingers have a hard time straightening out.  What's wierd is that whenever i play UNL for very long, my right hand suddenly spazzes out and starts pounding the directional arrow kets.

I don't go numb or ache when I play Touhou (or other shooters for that matter) for a long time. Not quite sure why

I trained myself to be ambidexterous (originally right-handed but i do most of the things now with my left hand) so i could just switch hands whenever my movement hand got tired

You know what the people at nintendo say?
Rest your darn hands every 30 minutes.
And water.
 :V
Well , that was helpful.

But IN is barely 30 minutes.
And yes, my hands hurt after that :V

My right wrist hurts a lot when I play any Touhou.  That is because it tends to be the impact point for where I slam my fist down repeatedly in rage.

Yes, I get the same thing. I think because of the team thing and more micrododging (looking at you, Marisa), plus all the shotgun equals hot Z on Shift action.

Border team for me, probably because both focus and unfocus are equally useful+shiftpickup early on.
In other touhous you usually have almost no reasons to unfocus unless you are macrododging or POCing.
And did I say that I use shift on my left hand along with movement? :V

Ah, I meant Marisa the Stage 4 boss, not Marisa of Magic Team, when it comes to micrododging.
