I must be getting better at UFO Extra.

First time ever getting past Red UFOs after figuring it out mid-spellcard, and I proceed to capture everything up to Undefined Darkness with a one-death Danmaku Chimaera. Game Over'd on UD, but still (ignore the post-Kogasa herpderp during the stage).

Am I supposed to actually be able to hit Nue during UD?

I don't know why Banana has so much trouble with Blue UFOs, that card's really fun :V

It's a 100% for me with MarisA as piercing makes a huuuuuuuge difference.
Try ReimuA. Enjoy getting fucked over.
Also, for UD, lure Nue into a corner and sloooooooooowly lure her down. You might kill her before she even reaches the bottom.

So here's my day so far:

*Realise that his computer's running everything full speed TO THE TOUHOU GAMES
*Complete Game Over, even after continues, on PCB Hard
*Game Over at Remilia on EoSD Normal
*Reach Marisa and Game Over in SoEW Lunatic
*Fail at the same spot in SoEW Normal (...)
*Almost no-death-clear PoDD on first attempt, then game over to Yumemi
*Get wrecked by Yumeko by the SAME ATTACK, THREE TIMES IN A ROW.  Game Over on MS Normal.

Why is this not in the ARGGARBL thread?

*...Proceed to destroy Mokou not once, but three times, getting 6 captures in the first two attempts and 8 - and thus get Imperishable Shooting seen.

I think there's only two cards I didn't capture at some point during that: Keine's third spellcard (I know it's almost the same as the first but I can't figure out a route for it) and Fujiyama Volcano (That it only took up a life and three bombs was a record for me on my winning run, too).  Oh, and I didn't ever capture Hourai Doll, which is odd, as I know I've done it before and I almost did again.

...Also Curse of Iwakasa has some unexpectedly tiny hitboxes or something because I swear to god I've dived right through the knife bullets during it.

Normal EoSD 1cc! RAAAAAAH! I got a little overexcited when I got to Remilia with four lives, so I fumbled a bit with the first spells, but I annihilated the last few :D
Now I've got two normal mode 1ccs under my belt! On to PCB! I managed to get right up to Youmu without continuing, so I should be able to manage it soon :D

Protip:  If you want to score well, instead of perfecting the stage you basically have to blow all your lives and bombs grazewhoring Silent Selene and PoC'ing the books, then survive Flandre with limited resources.  You can hold back somewhat on stage-milking to accomodate your survival needs of course.

Just timed out Monster Train, which at some point became my favorite spell card in the series. Still can't redo the magic that allowed me to capture Parasol Star Memories though. ;_; If it weren't for that spell card Kogasa would be my favorite boss in the series bar none.

You need to watch Wong's replay if you haven't already. IIRC he made it all the way to the last phase. It just takes some VERY creative gapping.

Tried a random run after spending a week or so on MoF (up to Kanako there), and this was the result. Cut out the derpishness on Alice and Youmu, and I have a decent shot at this.

It isn't hard, really. Just pure memorization. With the exception of the last phase spawning a bullet on top of me, I could probably cap it every attempt.

I played SA Stage 1 Lunatic a couple times so I could practice my way of dealing with Yamame's opener. On the way there, I captured Kisume's card on a whim both times I faced it. I've never been this comfortable on her card before. Perhaps I finally figured out the proper "Kisume manipulation" I need?

Timing it out is the only way. However, there's a bit more to it than just that from what I noticed.

Getting to that means that you're about "halfway" there (in terms of resources). If you look at the nifty little NTS that I left, you'll see that I put down a lot of resources needed for "SR", which are needed because that thing doesn't let you sit in the middle of the screen for long, and has a very, very long timer as well. Wong's replay had "SR" going down below 40 seconds before he died.

EDIT: Might be able to cap "Rorschach", but it requires a rather large amount of memorization on my part. Might be worth it to save myself a death though.

All right, my first Extra clear! Feels so good to finally get one down. Finished 0/0, but hey, it's the clear that counts. I think it also helped that this was my absolute best run to date on everything before Ran's last 3 cards.

I don't know when I'll be able to beat Phantasm, but I have it opened for practice now.

Sweet Youkai Jesus, that took long enough. Most of the spells were easy enough to capture until I had about 30 to go, so I stopped for ages. Then, today I randomly tried Bounded Field and got it on attempt 110, figured I'd go for the rest, beat Apollo 13 L on my FOURTH ATTEMPT (wtf), FINALLY figured out Mind Stopper L after my 160th attempt at the card and just there captured Phantom of the Grand Guignol, the last one.

Now if I can 1cc Lunatic with 3 starting lives I can *finally* say I've fully beaten Imperishable Night.

Yeah, I kind of imagined when I first learned about it that Phantasm would be the "Lunatic" version of Extra. And from what I've seen, I'd say that holds up.

Believe it or not, I've yet to try those two games' Extras. And I've gotten up to Youkai Polygraph once before in SA, but that's because I play SA's stuff a lot more than the others.

I still have to capture Hourai Elixir and Kaguya's 5 Lunatic Last Spells. Everything else I've captured at least once.

I still need the 1cc first though.

Oh, use Netherworld Team, it's easier than Border team. On a good run, it'd be 0-2 deaths until Reisen(it was 2 on my run that game overed on Hourai Jewel due to massive screw ups, but you're better than I am)

I could easily have done it with the resources I had. I just fucked it up, Reisen was horrible, and I wasted the 3 bombs on my last life on deathbombs due to clipping. Oh, and I've been getting hit in stages 1 and 2 since then. And I would have had just as much chance of messing up Eirin as I'm terrible at that fight too.

Pretty much fixing any of the issues, getting a good Reisen fight, not deathbombing as much would fix it if I repeated that or better.
