recommended musics/albums on video sites
« on: January 02, 2010, 04:26:20 AM »
hello, welcome to this thread, I hope you enjoy your stay. ^_^

Now, please allow me to explain the purpose of this thread. This thread is meant to help people who enjoy listening to the fan musics, yet don't know of some good musics/albums/artists, from nowadays, and before. One way to acquire such knowledge is to actively try to download the new/old albums, and/or do some research on video sites, however there may be other people, besides myself, that aren't willing to spend that much effort or don't want to take the time required to do so.. there are lots of different genres, styles, preferences, which may make people prefer to get some samples of what musics/albums/artists they've been recommended.

So, the idea I had, is that people would recommend musics for others to listen to, and more importantly, link a video (or something else that can provide instant access) to the music you're recommending. If the listener likes the music, he/she may like the album it comes from, if the listener likes the other musics from it, and will do some research through already existing threads, here and elsewhere.

This idea isn't originally mine, it was done for a non-Touhou specific forum (and no, I haven't thought of a similar thread on the shmups forum :p), and I think that this thread could have another instance in the non-Touhou forum sections as well, where people could recommend the game musics they like. I'd start posting, but I can't remember anything right now..

How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

lusvik: I don't mind about playing HM in japanese. The language of punching other people is international.

Just gonna say right now, if you're into metal, immediately search for Demetori, IRON ATTACK!, UI-70 (earlier stuff), Unlucky Morpheus, CROW'S CLAW, etc.

Yes, there are many more. I'm just listing off the top of my head atm.

Am I doing it right?

download the new/old albums
Now, by that I hope you mean finding some way to import them. Because that would be piracy and piracy is wrong. :O

OK, so, I'm trying to get into Touhou J-Core. I've already got ALiCE'S EMOTiON, C.H.S., Cis-Trance, and MINAMOTRANCE. Also, I'm getting around to getting their non-Touhou stuff too (which means I'll have HARDCORE TANO*C covered), but for now taking Touhou suggestions. Anyone else I should be looking out for?

Hmm I guess I'll add some to the list.  I'm a fan of Trance, Techno, Electronic, etc, though I do like some other genres as well.  Anyway, here goes:

Alstroemeria Records - You'll probably recognize them from This.  Another good song is Maple Wizen.  Tons more besides those two of course.
O-Life Japan - If you haven't seen Drake advertise this already... One of their most recent remixes
Sound Online - One of my new favorite groups, especially after their recent Nostalgia album was released. Here's one my favorites.

Just three off of the top of my head.

@Koikumei: yes, that's what I meant, and thank you for your contribution.

@jigglyppuff8: regarding piracy, I agree with you, and am starting to think that I've made a mistake in making this thread, as in, it made me feel bad for having done so. I just thought that there were so many fan-made musics, and a seemingly increasing amount of circles, that some sort of sample thread would be of help, and didn't think of the implied ownership of these albums.

@Mystlord: thank you for your contribution as well ;D

Add EastNewSound to that list, they have a "similar" sound. Here's one of my favorite tracks from them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV1Vpx_2UM8

Another nice metal group that arranges Touhou is Kokuyasou, here's a sample:

No one seems to have mentioned these two.

Tons of less-known but unbelievably good stuff, with detailed info of the tracks in description. And HQ.

Heck, thanks to them, Neko & Miyabi is now one of my favorite circles, despite having arranged only 6 tracks.

Enough said.

Ezel-Ash and South of Heaven are good for your rock fix, and I cannot repeat nazz-can enough times to do him justice.

I've been dying to hear flamenco styled Touhou music. A friend of mine told me he had an album in that genre before his computer broke, but he can't remember the name of it. Anyone else know about it? that'd be much appreciated.

Throwing in another vote for Demetori. All of their albums are pretty snappy, but go for Sinen and View of Spiral Riverside first.
