In some (all?) games increase the base value each item is worth.
In SA it also allows auto item collecting when the graze meter is full (graze a lot in a short ammount of time, keep grazing to keep effect).

And in MoF it does absolutely nothing, don't forget that.

It dosent do nothing, it makes the grazing sound and visual effects still, but no point differences.

I don't think it increases points by a TON in any of the games. I think however that in EoSD to IN however it increases the point value of the star thingies you get absorbed when you beat an enemy spellcard or whatever.

Lotus Land Story wants a word with you.  But yeah, grazing is largely just to get points; the only time it's really useful is enabling autocollect in SA.

How can you mention Lotus Land Story and also say that graze is only useful in SA? :V LLS gives extends for points. Which, ESPECIALLY in Extra, makes grazing a very good option to assist with survival.

So do MS and EoSD.

Actually, MS gives extends for every 100 point ITEMS, so graze doesn't do a thing there. EoSD... Yeah, but point items are more than enough to reach the final extend, due to the fact that there actually is a PoC, unlike in the PC-98 games.

Meant aside from points...and you only need the grazes to get lives in LLS's Extra, you get more than enough in-game on regular points alone.

I'm pretty sure MS Extra gives extends for points, though.

Ah, thankyou so much with your help. I'll have to get better with dodging then instead of flying around going "OMIGASHOMIGASHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!! *boom*"

Mountain of Faith also gives extra lives for points.

lolwut? No. It's 100 point items still. Which is why timing when to kill some of Alice's phases is a good idea; the bullets turn into point items.

oh. I was too busy farming her "moses" phase for graze points without really paying attention to whether it was working or not to find out  :V

this is what I get for barely ever playing again stuff I clear, watching too few replays/videos, not really realizing what the hell is happening at any given moment, being horrible at anything beyond shooting and dodging, etc

Are you sure? o.o

I could swear graze still went to your score and it just didn't visibly count them for some reason...

Very sure. I tested it just to double-check. Graze doesn't do a thing.

IN gives you time points for grazing if you focus much. Also, in PCB, getting the Supernatural Border is faster that way.

EoSD = More Points = More Lives
PCB = Boosts Cherry (and CherryMax during SuperNaturalBorder) = more SuperNaturalBorder
IN = More Time (When focused for long periods) = possible more Continues/chances at End of Eternity
PoFV = Nothing D:
MoF = Literally Nothing D:
SA = Auto-collect items = easy to gain power faster
UFO = Boosts point item value

It's also worth noting that grazing is still a practical skill to learn, as it gives you better grasp of your hitbox and, hey, most of the time, streaming an attack by slowly grazing it is way easier to deal with than just wildfire.

graze increases your super meter in IaMP/SWR/12.3, besides allowing you to go through the shot-type attacks :p

(PoFV must've been one of the first Touhou shmups I've played, since I went for the most recent first. I tried to graze and see how it would've helped me, but haven't noticed anything and then got confused. Then, I started playing IN :p)

How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

PoFV = Nothing D:
Doesn't it increase a bit of your charge meter, like killing things and collecting power-ups from bosses/Lily White?

The wiki is so terribly wrong about PoFV.  Don't believe a word about it you read on there.
