And then Jack had finished decorating his christmas tree. Though christmas soon ended in a tragic moment as the house got leveled with the ground.

Hmm... What would I do...

Well, I would probably seek out Reimu's shrine, then possibly be one of the first people to donate purely because I feel sorry for her.
Then I would ask Reimu to teach me some basic Danmaku skills... and I'd also probably end up making sure that Suika doesn't get too horribly drunk... or pissed off... (Missing Purple Power)
Then I'd attempt to get into the Scarlet Devil Mansion to take a look at some of the books.
Then become friends with Patchy and Kaguya. =3

If I were a resident of Gensokyo, the most contact I'd ever have with another Touhou character would likely be me buying allergy medicine from Reisen on a regular basis when she comes to the human village.

If I was a Gensokyo resident... hmm... I'd probably open a taco shop, learn danmaku and sadistically shoot fairies every morning. If not, I'll go live in the Mountain, with the Kappa. Provided they don't try to crawl in my anus for some orgasm sphere, I'll be perfectly fine.

It wouldn't be too hard to get to satori's, granted you can sneak around an entire city, avoiding every single youkai. Also, considering okuu is probably the farthest away from the mansion compared to her other pets, no worries about her.

Now, rin, on the other hand, despite not being radioactive, would see you as biofuel.

How do any of you expect to learn danmaku when none of you are shrine maidens, wizards, or youkai? I don't get it.

LOL. Being able to arc lightning through a room and pull the energy out of things has always been a want of mine, if that's weird. Scientificaly speaking, if you pull all the electrons out of something, it will turn to vapor because there is nothing to hold the atoms together. Lightning = ULTIMATE!!

Get eaten ;_;
but before getting eaten I'd try to graze danmaku
preferably of the laser sort

EDIT: On second thought I'd probably have a hard time finding Keine before being eaten by a D-Rank first midboss weasel youkai, so lasers are out of the question. Oh well...

Since two of my favorite characters lie in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and Sakuya's technically a human, I'd probably take my chances trying to befriend the incredibly cool Hong Meiling. Yes, she does eat people, but supposedly only certain kinds such as shrine maidens. If I am deemed worthy as anything other than a meal, I could easily become a very devout and loyal member of the Scarlet Devil Mansion crew with the proper training, which is something I'm sure Remilia could appreciate. The preferable position would probably be working under Sakuya, doing the cleaning tasks deemed too menial for the head maid, as it's simple and noncombative, thus allowing me as decent an amount of safety as I could get. The people of the Scarlet household don't seem like the sort to simply just double cross one another, so the only things I'd have to really fear is the periodic raid by a playable character or perhaps accidentally stumbling into Flandre's room. It seems unlikely that I'd get a career choice though, so I'd do close to just about anything, so long as it wasn't inherently immoral and I was skilled and able enough to do so.

I'd be risking my neck, sure, but it'd be my only chance to really make the most of the situation. The only problem is that my reverence for Patchouli could easily be misinterpreted and cause troubles for me, especially since despite them being celebrities to me, I'd be just a creepy stranger to them, at least initially. So as much as it pains me I'd probably avoid Miss Knowledge if at all possible. She seems to prefer her books to actual people anyway, so it likely wouldn't be too hard.

Also, I don't know how any of you could feel safe around Reimu. Sure, she's supposedly the defender of the humans, but her temper is just so easily provoked by everybody she meets. I think that if I ever met her, I'd find myself on the wrong end of a homing amulet. If I changed my mind and decided safety was my primary concern or if my plans to integrate myself into the Scarlets' abode utterly failed due to disapproval, I'd seek out Keine who despite seemingly misguided methods, seems to actually be quite sincere in her desire to help people. I don't have any particular plans about what I'd want to do from there, but I would probably seek a way home like AnaloKuma, since Gensokyo's such a dangerous place for people without purpose.

Well, at least all of that's what I'd like to believe, but the honest to god truth is if I actually did end up in some random part of Gensokyo, my actual course of actions would probably differ greatly from my plans. This would be due to a mix of unforeseen circumstances, confusion, the degree to which I'd be able to realistically carry out such plans and my fluxuating mood. Who knows what'd actually happen. Additionally, this is all assuming I just suddenly found myself in Gensokyo one day. If you're asking exactly what my preferred place would've been if I'd lived there all along, I'd have an entirely different answer.

My best bet would probably trying to make my way to the temple of Myouren and seeing if discipleship would work. Hopefully once I can get 3-4 spell cards I can go about making friends with all of the scary monsters of Gensokyo.

I would likely not meet many residents of Gensokyo mentioned in any of the games' plots, and live my days out as a regular human in a human village just as everyone else in this thread would because realistically they aren't going to risk their lives to get to meet their favorite characters.

You could either live a relatively boring life (to be fair, a Keine is fine too), or you could take the risk involved with one of the various available get-to-know-the-touhous routes and live a life of win...

I suppose there are three obvious routes for turning yourself into a youkai.

- I hear Reisen sells medicine in the Human Village every now and then.
Apply charisma and/or manipulative skills/flattery, ask her if she can arrange a meeting with Eirin, ask Eirin for help. (the "Eirin Eirin Tasukete Eirin!" route)

- Alice seems to have done it. Ask her how/if she can help. For optimal results (the ones that don't land you as random food) make sure Marisa or Reimu is there before you go visit her house. (the Rozen Maiden route)

- Yuuka is theorized to have done it. Go ask her. (the Suicide route)

If you don't want to turn into a Youkai, you could always beseech Keine (the one who seems to be friendliest to humans out of the bunch), Marisa (the one least likely to kill you, but most likely to get you killed), Reimu (who will help you in any way or form as long as you donate) or maybe even still Alice (tsundere can be abused :'D) for training/help to get started with the whole survive-against-youkai thing.

Oh hey, there's one more type of route.
Making friends with a friendly Youkai/bunch of Youkai and hang around them, thus leaving you with protection against evil Youkai AND potential training at the same time.

Like maybe a certain wind god shrine.

Or Cirno. Cirno would be hilariously awesome.
Getting ⑨ to like you would be painfully easy.
And everyone else in Gensokyo would spare you out of pity. SAKUSESSU!

...I actually know someone who would seriously consider the Yuuka route. lol.
I'd probably start out with the non-Youkai routes, then try the Youkai routes (excluding Yuuka :'D) and if all else fails, try hanging out at the wind god shrine.
If all fails, one can still make friends with Keine in the human village, mirite?

Many of you seem to overlook the fact that humans quite frequently battle youkai every day. Not just Reimu, Marisa and Sakuya, but many humans in Gensokyo. That's the whole point of Gensokyo: keeping youkai powerful by letting them fight humans through danmaku battles and incidents.
Obviously, to make this work, the humans should be able to defend themselves, probably with danmaku. Assuming this is true, danmaku should be quite easy to learn.

Also, Marisa once started out as a normal girl too, but look at her now!

if I were a resident of Gensokyo, I would like to be a Galuda. Are the girls lesbian? I win. Are them straight? I win again. \o/

...since Galudas have phantom halves and can slowdown the relative time.. would Youmu be somehow related to them? What would be the ghost half's true form?

(btw if I were to wield the abilities that some of my characters -- from my own story -- have, Gensokyo and the real world could be destroyed by my presence. I don't want that.)
