PC-98 Characters - Who would you want back?

Just to list 'em: Mima, Elly, and those dopey ghost.

Mima because she's awesome. Also, her only (okay, known) abilitiy is "Magic," which most youkai already have. Badass normal, anyone?

I just like Elly's design. I don't know why, I just do. Also, scythe fights against Komachi in the fighting games would be awesome. :V

And do I really need a reason for those dopey ghosts? They just feel like they never should have left the series.

These might be rather simple reasons, but oh well.

oh yeah! I found it strange how many of the enemies just dissapeared. I wanna see the dopey ghosts again! and perhaps the evil eye demons, but that I can do without.

My favorite character from the PC-98 series was brought back in Perfect Cherry Blossom. I'd like to see Shinki turn up again, but considering she's from Makai there may not necessarily be a reason to pull her in. Besides, apparently UFO ripped off her iconic attack, so I guess as far as ZUN's concerned, she's already back. I also really liked Sariel, but part of that could just be the way the encounter worked in tHRtP.

I guess I'd have to say Mima. She was the closest thing Touhou ever had to a recurring antagonist. Since I was introduced to the series through the PC-98 games (not counting music listened to beforehand), I really liked how Touhou had some manner of Eggman, who was always at odds with the protagonist, despite not really being the primary villain anymore.
Of course, that would be a tough achievement for the opposite reason as Shinki. While there's no room for Makai in the series after the fifth game, if Mima came back to be a similar form of threat then that would drastically change a few things about the universe.

Note, most of my information regarding Touhou is a few games outdated. I don't know the story to SA and UFO, and don't intend to find out until I play them.

Makai returned in UFO. so it's very possible Sariel, Shinki, Mima (perhaps she was judged by Shikieiki and went to Makai), and the other ones associated with Shinki to reappear. I'm all for Sariel, though. She/he's one of the few characters that we can SAY she/he. but that's not all, Sariel is a fallen angel, that has managed to maintain his/her heavenly appearance! THAT'S SO AWESOME! Perfect for deception.

We all now what characters we want to bring back, but what about locations? I would love to see Mugenkan in a new Touhou game~

I'm also curious to see how Yuuka's mansion looks like from the outside.

You don't go to Makai if you are judged by Shikieiki (I want to say you would go to Jigoku, since that's pretty much hell in and of it self). Makai is an alternate dimension created by Shinki and thus has nothing to do with the yama's judgement.

This said, I'd like to see Jigoku again. We only saw that once and I'm curious as to what it truly looks like beyond the lack of detail HRtP gave us a long time ago.

I always assumed Mima ended up in hell... whatever its called in the Touhou universe. Although I'd picture her more as part of the staff than as one of the residents. Wasn't that where she first showed up anyway? I don't remember her in the Makai route in tHRtP (which is what I always go with because I like fighting Sariel so much better than the hell boss).

As for the girl/guy thing, considering its Touhou, I think its probably more likely that its a girl, even if Sariel's supposed to be androgynous. Of course since this is tHRtP we're talking about, some of the standards and expectations set by the series probably don't apply. After all, it wasn't even a shmup!

makai isn't heaven... remember the place they went to in SWR? THAT was heaven... well, part of it. makai is different as far as I have seen, known, and heard. both routes lead to places of undesirable location. Why do you think Byakuren wanted to get out so badly?

also: Sariel is always referred to as a guy. the only reason his/her gender in Touhou is questionable is BECAUSE it is touhou.

As far as I know, the other route in tHRtP was supposed to be Makai but was horridly translated into Heaven. That said, I've never played SWR so I don't know what Touhou's heaven looks like, and my only frame of reference for Makai is the fifth game, which was before Touhou had any kind of rich backstory.

characters that would be awesome to see back: the midbosses. especially the mirror and the midboss which both appeared in 4 and 5.

meira. she gave up way too easily for a woman wanting the hakurei's power. and judging by her sprite, she DID appear to be an adult, so she should have that "I'm better than you 'cause I'm an adult" attitude. I'm not really a meira fan, its just remarkable that a character like her never showed up again.

Anyway, as Yuki and Mai are in makai probably they'd never come back unless... UNLESS SHINKI TELLS THEM TO KIDNAP ALICE!! Lol
Whatever, they have to come back. Some other magicians that aren't...klepto/colecto maniac or asmathic.

Mima was always my favorite character, since I first got into the series. The fandom surrounding her goes largely unnoticed by me. I just miss my delightfully evil, pathologically lying evil spirit who liked to hang around and make fun of Reimu, as well as occasionally go on genocidal rampage through Makai with her good ol' pal Yuka.

Other than her, Kana. I just really like Kana. Her name, her theme, her somber backstory, and her potential to be used in a variety of ways. Plus, she's a poltergeist with actual ghostly powers, unlike the musical skills the Prismrivers demonstrate.

I'd say Shinki, but it's just too unlikely, especially now that Byakuren has pretty much expy'd her. She'd still be awesome though.

And Elly because FUCKING ELLY.

Luize is nice, but I'm pretty sure she died. Sadly. D=
