This was going to go in the translation request thread, but then I realized that it wasn't quite a translation request. :V

Hieda no Akyu's line (Aya, Anana, Amu, etc) all follows a naming scheme based on puns for numbers. I asked this question in a limited scope once before, and heard that the next incarnation of the Child of Miare would be Hieda no Ama. What would go after that? (I would appreciate hearing up tp to the twelfth incarnation, if that's not asking for too much.)

Are, Aichi, Ani, Ami, Ayo, Ago, Amu, Anana, Aya, Akyu... I would expect the tenth reincarnation to be Ato or Aju. How it would follow after that, though, I'm not exactly sure.

Uh... I'm not sure if this goes here but is there any place on this whole forum for me to introduce myself? It feels strange just suddenly coming in here and posting when nobody really knows anything about me. =/

If Satori encountered someone who only spoke foreign languages, would she still be able to read their mind?

All her best friends are animals/pets because she can understand them, even though they can't speak.

I'm assuming animals don't speak the same language she does, so that would be a yes.

It's more like she can read what's in your heart than what you're thinking, so I guess it has nothing to do with the language of the thought, but the subject matter of the thought.

Toyohime, the lunarian from silent sinners in blue with the purifying fan, apparently has the ability to manipulate the boundary between the earth and the moon, and the scientific and fantastic versions of the moon.

http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Toyohime

I'm a little unclear on the canon though. Does she require a full moon to manipulate the boundaries, or can she just travel back and forth between earth and moon at will? Same question for the boundary between the scientific and the fantasy moon; does it have to be a full moon, or does that rule only apply to everyone else?

I think it's just travelling between Earth and Moon at will, and between the sealed-away Lunar Capital and the airless moon, and it doesn't matter what time of month it is. (At one point in Inabas they visit Eientei on a whim, but I forget what the moon phase was at the time.)

That sounds good enough for my story. Thanks!

Suika Ibuki is a difficult character to work around, but because of how the story is set up, she has to be used. I know that she is assumed to be able to grow gigantic, but I'm not sure where that ability comes from since it doesn't seem canon. And if it canon, does that mean she can grow bigger than the earth (if that's even her limit)?

Then there's her Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red article, in which it states that she blew up the moon. There are dozens of things wrong with this, including the fact that it would be a huge incident in the outside world (our world) if the moon blew up even temporarily. However, it can't be the fantastic moon because the lunarians would all be dead. Basically, I need to know what she did to the moon for one of my stories, and how someone could blow up Gensokyo's moon without anyone outside of Gensokyo caring.

Suika grows large in DS (or StB, I forgot), taking up about half of the entire screen.

She manipulates density. However that works, she can grow huge (as seen in IaMP and DS) and can split into several miniature Suikas (seen in the same games). It also gives her the ability to make things gather, which is so general that it ranges from physical objects (her shot in SA, various IaMP attacks) to getting everyone together to have a massive party in IaMP's scenario.

Suika didn't blow up the moon.  She blew up a reflection of the moon, as a display of her power (in retalation to the Scarlet Devil Mansion's anti-oni celebration, which was done in retaliation to IaMP, as per Patchouli's storyline).  She explains the process to Aya in that BAiJR interview.

The whole "You can influence the appearance of the moon using reflective surfaces" thing was a secret (something that Suika told Aya in that interview), so Suika either figured out how to do it herself or she learned how to from her friend Yukari (given Yukari's propensity for playing with the moon via reflections)

And yea, she grows huge in several games (pretty much every game she's been in, really, not including SA).  If you're trying to research characters for a story or something, I recommend you not only read their profiles, but also take a look at all of their spell cards as listed in the Wiki in the game sections.  Spell card names, ZUN's/Aya's/Hatate's comments on them, and the danmaku functions themselves all tell many things about a character's abilities that simply reading the literature won't.

You're probably right, although reading everything runs into practicallity issues. At a minimum, the lunarians, the denizens of hell, the military of the scientific world and most the residents of Gensokyo kind of have to get involved, and I blame Okuu.

I'm pulling the square-cube law on anything bigger than 50 feet. Heck, 50 feet might already break it, but density manipulation allows for hand-waving it. (This is the square cube law: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SquareCubeLaw). Thanks for the Suika info.

That seems to leave a bunch of questions unanswered about the nature of the moon. Somehow Remilia got to the real moon by following the reflection of the moon in the heavens until the full moon, and then didn't immediately go insane (or was already insane, which seems to be the excuse all the imperishable night characters use) when she got there. And somehow you can go back and forth between the moon and earth during the full moon, even though the full moon being chased across the sky is only the reflection of the moon in the heavens. Since this isn't the true full moon, it raise a question about how a path can exist to the real thing when the thing being chased is merely a reflection.

Oh, that would be because Yukari manipulates the border between truth and lies.  The reflection of the moon is a lie.  So Yukari simply makes it true (Yea, Yukari's ability is pretty darn extensive...).  That's the short version of it, at least.  You can get the extended version of how it works in PMiSS + CiLR + SSiB.  I forget if Toyohime's ability worked that way when she travelled back and forth in SSIB.  This method only works on the moment of a full moon, because that's the only time the true moon is reflected or... something like that.

Reissen 2 instead used a lunar curtain, which is a device that lets you ride back and forth quite easily but comes with risks and costs to use (I forget what, exactly.  It's detailed in Cage in Lunatic Runagate how it works).

It's not stated which method they used to get to earth in Inaba of the Moon and Earth.  But they could have used either the Lunar Curtain or whatever method Toyohimi used in SSiB (unless Toyohime used Yukari's border method.  In which case... they probably just used the Lunar Curtain)

Remilia herself actually got to the moon via combination of a magically empowered rocket (by a god summoned by Reimu, no less) and Eirin's own magical charm that she secretly placed on it to guide it there.

Can anyone explain what exactly Advent Cirno is to me?

I thought it was a manga, but I'm aware that there seems to be an advent cirno soundtrack, so I'm a bit confused about it.

EDIT: Also, there's this lunarian, Yorihime, who has a sword that I can't quite figure out. Does the sword physically paralyze her opponents, or does it tear them to shreds if they try to move?

i think who begin like a OST parody of Final Fantasy, mixing with Touhou songs, and was called Advent Cirno because that year appared the movie Advent Children. Was sucessful, and fanart begin to appear, with Cirno like Cloud, Reisen like Vincent, Meiling like Tifa...like the images in the disk...and do another characters too. After appeared the manga from the people who do the images from the disk...another OST,more doujins and turn into the thing who you know now.

The sword actually paralyzes opponents when Yorihime is in the process of summoning. I don't know if it's magically enchanted or not because her sword was able to black Marisa's Master Spark in Silent Sinner.

Advent Cirno started as an arrange soundtrack but its incredible amount of backing began after One Night Stand developed a doujin manga for it. ONS drew the inlay art for the first album (C69), and then founded the character designs and little quirks, which were used for the second album released a year later (Reitaisai 3). Ultimately, the manga began a few months after the second album was released, in August 2006.

Well that's a pity, since that particular ability will be hard to write around in a story. I know that's what it says on the touhou wiki, but do we know anything about how it paralyzes them, or does it simply paralyze people without explanation?

So it's an album first. Thanks, didn't know that, my first experience with it was the manga series by one night stand.

Does anyone else use advent cirno, or is it mostly a one night stand thing?
