Seeing how her dolls follow her around in air as if they are not controlled by anything, I was somewhat under the assumption that it was something similar to telekinesis, but she has to move her arms and fingers in order to make them do something.

Or so they say. So I guess that's why they made it that thin. I don't have the slightest of ideas what Manboy is.

Where does magic come from in Gensokyo? The border was made to make sure magic, youkai and everything else mystical keeps existing. Is the amount of magic available in the world based on how much people believe in magic? And is there 'magic in the air'? As, in, do magical beings use magic by tapping into magic in their suroundings? Or are magical beings each their own source of magic, producing it themselves withing their bodies? I think I heard somewhere youkai get their magic power from the moon and Marisa gets her power from mushrooms. Mikos of course get their power from the gods while gods themselves get power from faith. We know gods disappear if they run out of faith, but would youkai disappear too if their is no more believe in magic and/or if they are separated from the light of the moon too long? Gensokyo seems to be a place where the world's magic is collected, yet on the moon there is more than enough magic too.

Could it possibly that there has always been magic everywhere, but humans just forgot how to use it? But then why are youkai threatened to disappear if the border collapses? Or will youkai be perfectly fine even when the border goes down?

Okay, after all these questions that turn out to be unanswerable I realize that fans are allowed to wing it in certain aspects of Touhou 'lore'. Most of the questions I've asked here were all for the purpose of collecting information for possible Touhou fics I might make in the future. That way I'd avoid potential errors. But, considering how loose Touhou is in its rules, I think it wouldn't be that bad if I just used my own theories for certain parts. That's how most Touhou doujins work after all. I'll try and be less of a Canondorf too.

This doesn't mean I won't throw ALL the rules out of the window. I'll still try and stay loyal to the small amount of things that have been officially established, but I won't criticize others with it.

Actually, I was wrong. It was just hard to hear the difference when flatted and stuff in that video; I didn't notice all the differences when just switching between games either.

-Guitar used is different; he switched from VG1 to VG2.
-Harpsichord is different; more twangy in DS
-Entirely different drum line
-Added bass line, much louder
-Clearer and more pronounced piano

. . .

-On second though, all of the instruments have all been changed, they're much sharper as well
-Drum line and bass line are entirely different
-Faster by maybe 2BPM or so

It's essentially a cover of his own song. Until now I had only recognized the added bass line, especially noticeable at the climax of the song, but I never figured the entire song would be changed like this.

If I remember correctly, for PoFV ZUN was in charge of all the art Except for the coloring.
Thus people from the taso fro team (probably alphes) did the coloring for it.
So the picture it's self should have been drawn by ZUN.

I've been pondering over this for the past few days. Would fairies be directly considered youkai as well?  I usually regarded them as "magical beings" and not youkai per se. One theory I've heard says that they are embodiments of nature itself. Another says they are regular youkai and will try to taste human flesh if they are curious.

So...at the moment, I have no idea WHAT to think of fairies. On the other hand, as Cirno, Star Sapphire, Luna Child and Sunny Milk haven't REALLY shown hints of being interested in devouring humans like hamburgers and hot dogs, maybe they could be considered magical embodiments of nature.

Well, what do you think?

According to PMiSS, they are a kind of youkai, but they're also considered embodiments of nature. However, they don't eat humans (actually, they don't need to eat at all), but they will try to copy humans and eat their food.

So, both theories are right, but they have no interest in eating people.

"Youkai" tends to be a catch-all term for any mystical being in Touhou, so yes, I suppose they would.

The Doylist answer is "because game mechanics."

The Watsonian answer is that a midair collision is going to hurt both parties, and bullets hurt more than "getting too close to Cirno."
