YO.

I got a question. I heard from a friend of mine at college saying  that ZUN helps with other people doujin games. I though He worked with his doujin games (Touhou Project 1 thru 12.8 Plus help compose music for the Fighting game) but I wouldn't think we would help other make their own Touhou doujin game. I'm Wondering if this is true?

Well, he's worked with Tasofro for the fighting games, did music for the Seihou games, and I think also did music for Uwabami Breakers. But I don't know how you would go about contracting him for help.

The whole engine of Uwabami Breakers is pretty much MoF's. The only track ZUN did for that game was A Drunkard's Lemuria.

He's also composed a couple tracks for Touhou Unreal Mahjong (AN ORDEAL FROM GOD), but I'm not sure if he did anything else.

He hasn't helped too many people, afaik. Maybe just stuff he likes/occasionally with his drinking buds as a joke?

Or tried asking the topic http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,5980.0.html

Is is getting released today?

I guessing it's a hoax.

This is supposedly a Reitaisai SP release. This seems to be the authors site, but I'm not seeing any other info on it.

A question about LION HEART's newest game starring Sanae and Utsuho, "Sanae Challenge! FUSION"

What is the highest rank the player can get? There seems to be something missing.

I have a question regarding locations. I know Chireiden (Earth Spirit Palace) is underground, but where is the entrance to the underground itself, or is there more than one entrance? Also, where is the Netherworld? I know there is a way in because the player gets in there in PCB, but where is the entrance? Asking around in IRC told me there's a door in the clouds, but how does one get there? Are these clouds in Gensoukyou (in its sky) or somewhere else?

Entrance to Chireiden - Who knows? All we know for sure is that The entrance is a cave existing somewhere in Gensoukyou.
Nether World - PCB Stage 4, the background of the place you fight the Prism Rivers, from there on exist countless steps to the Hakugyokurou
...Or so these things are told...

I was always under the impression that they would climb down the hole that the earth spirits were leaking out of. And then again, there was a hot spring there, so so much for that theory :(

As for the Netherworld, I'm assuming it's past some snowy field place near the Forest of Magic. You've got Mayhioga in St. 2 and some barren place in St. 3, but then it just sort of fades into this black swirly hell in St. 4. Good question, actually.

Netherworld may be a different world, hence the name. That door is just the entrance, Netherworld doesn't necessarily exist on the sky.
I think the Underground is pretty big with many entrances. Maybe you can find one in Europe and go to meet Satori and climb up to Gensokyo too.

Well, I'm basically writing a fanfic, and I wanted to know if/how a messenger butterfly could get from Chireiden to the Netherworld, and if doing so requires it to pass through Gensoukyou itself. Also, I wanted to know how hard it is for a living mortal to pass through the barrier around it that SHOULD prevent living people from entering (And completely prevents those without death like Mokou from entering). Reimu, Marisa and Sakuya had no problem entering in PCB, but...

Der. *Headdesk* Yukari weakened the barrier. Okay, so I'll assume that any youkai with sufficient power can enter the Netherworld?

At the moment, I'm thinking Gensoukyou exists in 'layers'. So the Underground is under Gensoukyou but just above Hell, while the Netherworld is located above Gensoukyou but under Heaven (Or wherever it is Celestials come from). Makai would be somewhere between Hell and the Underground, and there're barriers/borders/whatnot preventing accidental discovery or entrance (The Sanzu river for Hell, the vents for the Underground, the barrier for the Netherworld etc.). How accurate would this model be?

Finding a gate to the Netherworld doesn't require going to Gensokyo.  Maribel and Renko find one and they weren't in Gensokyo at the time (as far as we know, anyways.  It wasn't until afterwards that Renko proposed going to the Hakurei shrine)

ZUN confirms that Maribel and Renko actually DID find the Netherworld in his comments to one of Kaguya's spell cards in Imperishable Night.  Sadly, he purposefully and explicitly states it's a mystery what they actually saw there, so whether or not you can actually ENTER the Netherworld without going to Gensokyo is unknown.  Just that you can see into it, at the very least.  ...probably.  If you have a person along who comes from a clan where seeing borders is in the bloodline.  ......well, he did say it was a mystery as to what they actually saw.

(of course, as you've pointed out, one of the main reasons it's possible to travel to the Netherworld in Gensokyo is because Yukari weakened the barrier.  Unless she did so for any potential barriers between the Netherworld and the real world as well, it is less likely you'd be able to enter the Netherworld from there)

Of note is that Akyu specifically states the Sanzu river (where souls get ferried to the Netherworld) is not actually part of Gensokyo.  ...if I recall correctly.  The Netherworld is the land of the dead for EVERYONE, not just Gensokyans, after all (which is pointed out in Shiki's section, where it's stated that Shiki is the yama most known in Gensokyo simply because she's the yama in charge of juding those particular residents, implying other yamas manage other parts of the world/universe/continuity/whatever)

Hmm... I know that ALL dead go through Shiki, and she then judges them based on their deeds. Her judgement determines where they get sent; Heaven, the Netherworld or Hell. (Source: Perfect Memento In Strict Sense) In my fic, I was going by the assumption that 'technically', the Netherworld (And its 'official' entrance) lies across the Sanzu River. However, I'm not sure how accurate this is. Especially since the player can enter the Netherworld without crossing the Sanzu in PCB.

The link Tsukiko gave me on the Prismriver sisters say that they tried to stop the PCs from entering the Netherworld, and if I recall correctly you fight Youmu on the stairs that lead up to Hakugyoukurou itself. The transcript from the game (Reimu's route at any rate) show that she was 'flying high in the sky towards where cherry blossoms were falling'.

Ah stuff it. It's a fanfic anyways. I'll just make up a plausible theory from what I know and ask anyone who criticizes that if they can find better. xD

Current theory: The Netherworld lies on a separate plan from Gensoukyou. Yukari's barrier is what prevents mortals from accidentally stumbling into it. The dead that still live in Gensoukyou can enter by way of the Endless Stair high in the clouds above Gensoukyou which mortals cannot see or enter. The dead who are judged are sent there through another entrance located across the Sanzu River. However, ever since Yukari weakened the barrier, living mortals can enter the Netherworld. Since crossing the Sanzu is forbidden for the living, the only way for living mortals to enter the Netherworld is via the Endless Stair above the clouds. And that's assuming that one knows where to find it.

Would that theory work?

I think they go around the Sanzu, in that case :D
What do you think? Stage 3 doesn't seem to serve too much of a purpose.

"Apparently", it's common knowledge that Cirno is pronounced "Cheer-no". I know that her name in Japanese is Chiruno and is a play on words of 'chill' since she's an ice fairy, but why is her name translated as Cirno? If people really want this "true" pronunciation to be more widespread, why not have her name be spelled Chirno?

I didn't know it was pronouned "cheer-no."
I've always pronounced it "seer-no."
They think I'll think that they'll do (A) so they'll do (B) because I wouldn't think they'd think of that but then because they might think I know what they're thinking they'll do (A) after all because I wouldn't think they'd think that way.

...And this question isn't about pronunciation.

You can spell her name 'Chillno' if you want to, but people may throw rocks at you.

While Cirno's name is written in katakana, it's one name that I find should probably be pronounced as if it were in "japanese", not english. I don't think it's even been confirmed that her name is indeed a pun (although it probably is). ZUN surely knows enough english that if he were making a pun, he could show it. Having her name being Cirno isn't really a mistake, I think.

Her name is Cirno and チルノ. You can't change her name to suit how english-speakers "should" be pronouncing it. Just keep pronouncing it the proper way and leave it be. These music notes are here for a reason, people.

Cirno = Chiruno
Shameimaru = Syameimaru
Not too sure what you're getting at, but sha and sya are just different ways to romanize the same syllable, whereas ci isn't present in any method.

About a year or two back, there was a .xls file with a bunch of translated info for a doujin Tactics-style RPG called Quadruple Fantasy Sword ~ Tenshi's Counterattack.  I've been searching high and low for the spreadsheet, but all I've managed to find is the old 404'd link to the Pooshlmer thread that used to exist back then.  Would anyone happen to have the spreadsheet on hand or know where I can find it?

Mainly in behind-the-scenes stuff, I think, like sprite names. Hah, get it. Like, you know, a sprite. Like a fairyokay nevermind.
But in-game, it's never used.

So, I once saw this cute, repetitive little video of Mokou and Keine pounding mochi or something, but I can't find it anymore. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, could I have a link?

EDIT: Wait... Why does the subject of this message... ?

Does Alice use strings to control her dolls or does she use something like telekinesis?  From what I've seen in the fighting games, she seems to use both.  Can anyone please clarify?

Thanks in advance!
