I see often that Remilia drops her tea cups, is it a symbolic meaning? Or is just cool and elegant(classy?) of Remilia?

Why in End of Daylight (all PV version, Black&white, Handdrawn, colored, animated) It's highly hinted that there are people trying to save Koishi? :\ I kinda wondering if anybody got an idea of why.... This could be because I haven't finished the Extra stage but I'm still curiose.

Who is Haru and why is s/he so damn awesome at remixing?!

Just for future reference, I fused your topic to this thread since your questions gave off the "misc questions" vibe as opposed to a "discussion starter" vibe. Just to keep things less cluttered in the mainboard with 3 post answers to offhanded questions.

Yeah, okay... Though I do hope some-one answers it... >:> Unless it's already been answered...

Btw Is it me, or for some reason sticky(s) are really easy to overlook? It may be me, but Since I only come to this thread for like maybe 3 topics, I think I never notice the MQ... I'm usually on the "Make Game Thread" (the name is blank to me at the moment)

Again, I sorry for the inconvience.

I think it should belong here.

Why does MoF have all bombs as a huge ring? Is that somehow symbolic(iirc both Suwako and Kanako have some sort of rope/iron/spellcard rings) or was ZUN just lazy to design or atleast repeat the previous bombs?

Is this even a question, or yet another excuse to "hurrr ZUN = lazy"?

An actual question.

If bombs=player spellcards...what are these rings? Spellcards are supposed to have names, and these are just...force rings which are the same for all 6 shottypes.

If it isn't a spellcard, did Reimu and Marisa acquire Jedi powers?
Either way...they beat several gods in a spellcard battle...without actual spellcards.

There is nothing on the MoF Touhou wiki page that says anything about the MoF bombs' shapes. Maybe ZUN brought it up in an interview, but I doubt it. In short, I don't think there's an answer beyond speculation.

Maybe he felt that bombs were too powerful in the previous games, so he weakened the range of them. Though given their power if you actually hit, that's not very likely...

Or maybe a shaman hypnotized him and he was abducted by aliens.

Point is, the question has no answer.

Alright, I have successfully finished reading this thread! And after reading some of the pages in Perfect Memento in Strict Sense a lot of my questions have been answered, but I still have a couple.

First, we all know that shinigami hunt down and fight celestials. If (or when, really) the celestials win then they are allowed to continue living despite having lived much longer than they were originally intended to. So, does this apply to all of Gensokyo's inhabitants? Can a sufficiently powerful youkai theoretically defeat a shinigami and avoid death or is dying of old age a completely different force? I'm guessing the answer to this question is probably no but I figured I'd ask just to clear it up in my mind. Also, when a shinigami fights a celestial, are the two of them bound by the spellcard rules or is the fact that the shinigami aren't from gensokyo enough to let them out of the contract? Sorry if this is cleared up in PoFV. I've never played it.

On a similar note, What is Rin's role in this? The information I've read seems to suggest that she takes people's bodies to be burned in the Former Hell of Blazing Fires, but all the fan work I've seen of her seems to have her collecting souls. Is this a purely fanon thing or am I missing some important key here? And while I'm on the topic of the Former Hell of Blazing Fires, what exactly is it's role? Is it still the place where the yama send souls with bad karma, or is it just like the Palace of Earth Spirit's garden or some other fitting analogy? And if it isn't where souls are sent to be punished anymore, where is the new hell? Is it located nearby in the underground or moved someplace completely different.

Sorry for all the questions. Simply trying to learn.

The shinigami question is never answered anywhere ... except insofar as everyone else has to avoid death the usual ways (Hourai Elixir notwithstanding).

Orin just takes corpses. She has control over "evil spirits" which were already there (as far as I know), and one of the Double Spoiler spell-card comments suggests that the "zombie fairies" which surround her were just normal fairies dressing up, but having her actually steal souls per se is non-canon.

I'm sorry if I overlooked this, and I must state that I didn't search, but anyway

Why does people make Marisa say "Ze" in the end of her sentences?  It's like a speech habbit, like Naruto does?

And she says this in the games as well, or only in fanworks?

Yes, it's as you say, a speech habit. Marisa's manner of speaking tends to be more masculine than how a girl should talk, and this is most known through her liberal use of "ze".

She does say it in the games, so it's not just a fandom thing. Just look in the translation pages on the wiki and look for the character "ぜ" in Marisa's texts.

Yeah, as I understand it, "da ze" is a masculine way to end sentences in the Japanese language. (And many fans leave out the "da" part because they are lazy)

Thanks, KimikoMuffin! Now that I think about it I probably was seeing the evil spirits and assumed they were souls. >_<

Any knowledge of the Former Hell of Blazing Fires from anyone, though?

It means "gap". Who exactly called her this the first time, I don't know.

I don't know if this goes here, but where can I learn about Japanese/Chinese/etc. legends?  I can try google, but I don't know what to search for.
Sorry if this has been answered, I want to know where stuff in Touhou come from.

A good place to start is with the Touhou Wiki entry on Gensokyo. From there, most of the characters who are referencing mythology in some way - and many, many of them are - include links to Wikipedia articles on these aspects of mythology. From there, you can go branch off into learning more about Tale of the Bamboo Cutter's Daughter, oni, tengu and so on.

I'd recommend Gensokyo.org for their archive of replays.

This may've been asked already or be totally obvious:

How is Hisotensoku pronounced? Also, somewhat unreleated, but... What's the 'rule' on 'silent' U's (Yusuke, etc.) in Japanese?

Thanks much, all.

He so ten so coo
Hee soh teh un soh koo

Also, the u vowel sound is kind of weak. If you slow down the way you say Yusuke, you should notice a "su" kind of sound before the "kay". It's there, you just don't really notice it. If that makes any sense.
