Im not particularly interested in the tournament cuz everyone is in different location and time zone so I just think it would be a pain to work out.
I just want to play with you guys whoever is available.
Drop me a PM whenever you feel like playing.  I spend most of my time online begging people (unsuccessfully) to play with me anyway. :V

I'll be able to play between 3-5 PM CST next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Well, change of plans.  I'm posting from my laptop right now, so all I need to do is download UNL, transfer my profile, and we can start this. :V  Though at the same time, I'd like to wait for a couple more people.

Why not making a hamachi room. It would be used as a chat room and we can know who's online and play.

I came out of lurking and signed up for the forums to say I'll play. D:

Only thing is, I play 4 characters, and I think it's harder for me to leave one out than it is to just pick one.  :(

But: Reimu, Yukari, Alice.

I'll just have to try and prove Sanae's good in casual matches.

I don't need Hamachi, and really would prefer not to have to mess with it, but if it comes down to it, it works.

I said I would if it was necessary, but would rather not if at all possible.  So far, not a single person signed up needs it.

Signed up when I saw. It sounds like fun. I'll give it a whirl ^_^.

Character:
Patchouli

Hamachi: No

I'd rather avoid Hamachi if possible. IRC would probably make it much easier to for everyone to reach each other; one meeting place, no fuss with AIM, ICQ or Hamachi and IRC even has plugins in Trillian and Firefox. Could just make a random room in efnet.

On stages: Personally I think the best thing for tournaments to do is Remilia or Patchouli's stages only. There's plenty of stages that are "fine" as far as the background obscuring bullets, but the indoor stages also don't show weather effects, so you don't have, say, Scorching Sun making it hard to see.

Ultimately it can be decided between players, but imo Cirno, Sakuya, and Utsuho's stages are awful for visibility.

Eh, I don't care about weather. If anything, it's just a timer you can manipulate.

Dealing with the weather system is part of the game. It should not be turned off.
It will only be a problem if you are not good enough to adapt to it.

I hope you guys remove that pesky weather before you start.
God no.

If you're unable to manipulate the weather with spellcards and weather cards, that's your fault, not the game's.

I would far and above prefer using Hamachi.  I don't -think- I'd need it, but... I never know now that I'm under a new router and all. @_@

Anyway!  Tenshi, Utsuho, Patchouli.

Updated the first post with all the info.  We have 14 people thus far, which I'd consider to be a rather decent amount.  If I've got some free time next week, I'm hoping to start this then before it ends up becoming one of those "maybe next week, no, the week after(ry" type of things.

Regarding character selection, I'm leaning heavily towards either one or two characters as opposed to the full three, but I'm not forcing anyone to completely narrow their choices down until after the first round starts.

Oh, we give characater info? Sorry, didn't realize that, herpderp :V

Characters: Remilia, Suwako, Komachi
Hamachi: Preferred, but not needed. I can't host matches though for some reason, I can only join them. :\

I suppose I could join in. I don't have any problems with time yet, so I could manage.

When it comes to characters, the only main I can assure is Alice. I'll probably keep Remilia, and unless it's two only, I'll choose between Utsuho and Aya.

Oh look, I got an image in my signature. Finally.

Hmmm... I really want to sign up, but playing anyone who lives beyond the American West Coast is going to be pretty bad. Also, I can't host and I don't want to use Hamachi.

What. You shouldn't have to adapt to anything but your opponent's play style. This is a fighting game, not a party game.

Exactly. And typically, for fighting games, you don't alter the rules of the game because you don't like them.

There's nothing wrong with the weather system. You can manipulate it to your advantage and the 'bad' weathers from SWR (which were perfectly managable) have all been toned down to inconsequence. Practically the only ridiculous weather left is River Mist and that is still managable.

Are you even signing up for this tournament, anyway?

I don't know about you, but my Sanae playstyle enjoys a healthy dose of Sword of Hisou to activate Scorching Sun then doing a 66C Night Stars combo to lock them in the degen for an extremely long time.

The only weather effects that are really all that terrible are Aya's and Patchouli's (Aya's due to killing the ability to guard and Patchy's due to killing melee attacks). The rest don't have a significant enough impact on a match to mandate killing weather effects completely.

In other news I *REALLY* want to enter, but I can only get online on weekends (bar holiday breaks like the one going on right now), so I'd be completely unable to play consistantly. T.T

This is the first time I've ever heard blocking being the reason of complaint for Aya's weather.  Then again, this is also the first time I've heard complaints about Aya's weather.

And Patchouli's weather makes melee register as type-2 bullets.  That doesn't kill melee, that makes it god tier for spirit crushing.

I agree with what someone said about River Mist though.  That weather's not rewarding for anyone.

Aya's gives Super Armor and makes you unable to block, right? At that point it pretty much becomes a damage race if you're ahead in health, or a race to avoid your opponent until the weather ends if you're behind in health.

Patchy's? I must be thinking of SWR, where it disabled use of melee attacks entirely.

That's Iku's.  Aya's makes you move super-fast and gives you three airdashes.

And yes, you are.  Except it only disabled the A key, characters like Suika who had melee attacks on the bullet keys (specifically, 2B) or characters with melee specials/spellcards could still use those.

Only typical I forget the exact name for each weather type, decide to use the character names to be more clear, only to get it wrong anyways.

Even so, I would rather the weather stay. I quite like to get Scorching Sun to activate and combine it with Reisen's poison special for fun times.

Anyways, is there a specific date for rounds set up or something? If there's a way for me to do my rounds on the weekends when I'm at home I'd like to enter. A Reisen main would help give more variety to the cast, anyhow.
