Wow, this is a lot of stories about embarrassing moment (new here on this site). This is the most embarrassing moment I had lately though I'm not sure this was posted already due to my inability to read through entire 33 pages 

I recently started playing IN four days ago as Reimu without knowing the "time/final card" system, and after beating Wriggle on normal stage 1 with having >2500 time points, moved unknowingly into the middle of the screen thinking it was over only to collide to respawned Wriggle.

I got the bad ending later due to too many continues and was fighting Wriggle on the stage 1 again, and to my surprise found myself struggling against her attack, so I try to bomb to buy some time to recollect myself. Only that I didn't know I was facing her final spell card at that time, so when nothing happened I started pressing X button repeatedly in panic, losing my concentration as I turned my eyes to look at right side of the game to check if I had run out of the bombs, and getting bullet right in my face :/

Then I wiki'd IN and finally realized what was going on. Honestly, I still don't know most of the Touhou game's mechanics such as condition for getting 1 bonus life with BRAG BRAG BRAG BRAG effect sound and such (which by itself is another embarrassment  )

In early cases (meaning pre-PoFV), you get extra lives through collecting the Point items (the blue ones); how many is different in each game, and in PCB and IN, you can see how many for the next life on the sidebar.  Particular enemies (usually Stage 3 midboss) also drop 1ups.

PoFV is score based; when you reach a certain score (which is really, really high), you get an extra life.

I'm not sure on MoF. 

SA and UFO have you collecting Life Pieces, hollow stars that work like the Pieces of Heart in the Legend of Zelda series.  You'll get them through boss drops (surviving an attack nets one piece) or in UFO, through the destruction and collection of Red UFOs.

In MoF, extra lives are given at fixed scores (20, 40, 80, and 150 million, specifically), similar to EoSD.

(Also, in EoSD-MoF you get extra life items dropped after the midbosses of stage 3 and 5.)

Trying to capture VoWG again. Pull off several weird-ass macrododges midway and near the end, then die just before capturing when trying to fit through an amulet wall.

It's embarrassing how inconsistent I can be with dodging sometimes.

I think that answers your question pretty clearly. The hitbox is somewhat small though; about the size of a large fairy which extends from the center of the "dome" of the UFO.

It`s like EoSD wants me to snap...Done Icicle Fall Normal perfectly, then fucked up Perfect Freeze. Is there an easy way to dodge Icicle Fall Normal? Hell, I more or less perfected Stage 6, but Patchy and Sakuya keep me from 1cc normal since I can remember...Even Non-Directional Laser killed me today, twice...

You can actually safespot it like the easy mode version, you just need to move to the sides to dodge the yellow bullets.

Ressurection Butterfly has a tactic that makes it very easy in general. The only problem is that, due to faster expansion of the red butterflies, it doesn't work on lunatic.  :V

Stage 2, pre-Cirno, when the blue "bird" things and flying down the screen and the fairies pop out in rows, I was at the POC and I got nicked in the side my a "bird" that the Laser didn't catch

And for Normal and Hard, I just try to get through before they even expand.

i am  going through all the non pc-98 games beating extra but i beat flandre on the first try but on pcb the prism river with a trumpet murders me with curvy lasers

ive attempted 6 times now  and her curvy lasers mess me up every time
