I will NEVER touch Easy Mode again. That thing literally glues my finger to the Focus button. I was playing Lunatic FULLY focused even when I didn't want to.
- Failed Byakuren's spell cards miserably. Even Magic Butterfly.
- Failed Colorful Light Dance (which ruined my Perfect Stage 3 run).
- Failed Divining Husk and everything past Kanako's 3rd non-spell.

The bright side ? ... I captured her opener.

-Backing into literally the first bullet in PoFV Extra (derp)
-Dying as Hell's Artificial Sun was exploding on my last life after "capturing" it. (fuck)
-Dying by running into the lasers in Kanako's first spellcard (fuck)
And last, but definitely not least, dying as QED was exploding. Then again I was really out of practice on EoSD Extra so I knew I wasn't gonna clear it. But ending it like that...

...Hmm. These aren't really that embarrassing imo. Other than the PoFV Extra thing.

My entire first playthrough of EoSD... is an embarrassing moment pretty much. It was my first ever Touhou game and I had never played any of the other ones, nor knew how they worked.

I accidentally thought the bomb button was the fire button, thought there was some type of health system involved, and thought grazing was bad. I also thought there were an unlimited amount of bombs and continues. I didn't know holding shift would slow you down and focus your shots until my second playthrough, and it took me about 4-5 playthroughs to realize going to the top of the screen causes the game to auto collect everything. Recording and narrating the first playthrough didn't help much either.

1/20-something on normal, here. Actual capture attempts, anyway -- if I'm thinking straight, it's really an autobomb.
Also: Backed into a frozen bullet on Perfect Freeze.

I was auto-collecting after finishing one of Nue's spellcards and flew straight into her.

Like, I didn't even bother moving diagonally, I just flew straight up and smashed her in the face.

That was also my last life so :V

Oh yes, the massive amounts of bombs on normal mode's Cirno's Icicle Fall ability.

I kept bombing it, and it became routine that I never decided to actually see the pattern. It got to the point where I only bombed her for that move and I could get through both Perfect Freeze and Diamond Blizzard along with most spellcards up to the second phase of Patchouli without using any bombs or losing any lives.

Though I still haven't figured out how to stream properly above her icicles and through the yellow bullets she fires.

I thought "capturing" meant you unlocked that spellcard to use for yourself

Anyway, while fighting Kisume today on Normal, I went up to the PoC a little too late while she shot her first wave of blue bullets, and for some reason I tried to go through them unfocused  :ohdear:

I thought this myself as well. I didn't know why capturing spellcards was such a huge issue until I realized how large of a point bonus it gives you if you do so. I also didn't know what misses meant, kinda still don't but I have a slight idea.

Ruined a perfect Murasa battle by (semi-intentionally) ramming her before Dipper.  For the record, I was dicking around because I stopped caring when I'd ruined the perfect stage (no death/no bomb/no UFO) at the red orb spam before the ending spiral fairies, but it just looks hilarious.



That said, this isn't that hard anymore, so I expect a proper no death/no bomb/no UFO run of the stage soon.

The UFO system works like this.  Grab three UFOs of an identical color, or one of each color, and you'll summon a giant UFO.  The giant UFO will absorb all items on screen until it reaches a certain capacity, at which point, it'll have a bonus effect.  For a Red UFO, it'll drop 1/4 of a life; a Green UFO, a bomb; a Rainbow UFO, a color-changing UFO item; and for Blue UFOs... I forget, I think it's a color-changing UFO item, but it's not too important for survival.  Additionally, destroying any giant UFO will cause it to drop another color-changing UFO item, and Red UFOs will drop another 1/4 life and Green UFOs will drop a 1/3 bomb.  So you have to use the giant UFOs to your advantage to gain resources in this game.

EoSD Hard's Scarlet Gensokyo looks fine to me. Lunatic's I'm not too sure. Though, they may as well be flukes. In Statistics, we never try to make predictions based off a low sample (or count) as it is unreliable; here it's the same issue.

However, unless you're counting each and every attempt you made, then there's absolutely no way you can tell the difference between Hard and Lunatic because the History is clumped together in EoSD. Though, with such a small count, that's hardly an issue, right?

Lunatic's difficulty really comes down to whether or not Remi decides to shit in your face with a solid wall of shit (I'm quite the elegant speaker). Regardless, if you can capture it 2/6, then you should have the general skills required to 1cc normal (provided you, oh I don't know, give it some actual time. And bombs.)

There's also something called probability in statistics. If we were to deem both captures as flukes (say, statistically significant figures), then to get 2 in such a small sample size is so uncommon that it would hint that they may not be flukes at all. This is all up to interpretation though.
