Baity how do you manage to deathbomb in PC-98 as well as you can in the Windows games? Every time I try to deathbomb in the PC-98 games I die and somehow end up bombing after I revive (i.e. a second or two after I press the button), requiring preemptive bombings to survive. Its reasons like this I prefer to use Yuka in MS.
There could be a small amount of input delay. Alternatively, it's because in PC-98!Touhou you're more likely to react on a visual cue, while on Windows!Touhou you're most likely to react to an audio cue. It's been known that you react to an audio cue much quicker than a visual cue. Unless you're trained to be better at reacting to visual cues than audio cues :V
My reaction time is above average. That
could be a reason why I deathbomb so well, but I doubt it. I know when I'm going to get hit (or when I feel threatened by an attack), so I usually try to bomb beforehand.
Baity, do you know if there's a PC-98 emulator that saves input files? (or did you have to record this while playing?)
As far as I know, I don't think I know of any (PC-98) emulator that saves input files. Besides, I don't think saving inputs would help; I noticed that the boss movements were random, as well as seeing some of the bullets fired (fairies and bosses) being random as well.
And I had to record while playing. Used a state I conveniently left at the start of Stage 5.
