That stage is just annoying. Made me yell.

Emmm... are you using Mima? The donut tells people to use Yuka, i tried that. I guess i was doing something wrong because she sucked. Taking Baitys advice and using Mima helped out with the stage though.

Seconding this.  Though I usually take spread shots over focused any day, Mima is just so much better.

Plus, I'm sure you'd rather have her for the boss fight itself instead of a weak spread.

Argh!  >:(

Just made an awesomely good scoring run on PoFV lunatic Story Mode Stage 1 (Cirno), obtaining almost 14 million points as opposed to the usual 6~7 million. I then proceeded to completely mess the rest of the run up.

I hate my fragile nerves.

Mystic Square Extra is clearly the greatest-designed stage in the series. Where else can you find red bullets that look exactly like the big power items

In UFO extra, why ?

And Stage 4 of Subterranean Animism has me mix up those blue spell tag bullets and blue point power-ups, causing me to sometimes freak out when they suddenly start to gravitate towards me... Yes I'm that pathetic, why do you ask?

So I'm not the only one that does that :<

But I only do it before the first wave of yin-yangs.

I have it unlocked for both Mima and Yuka!

I have to admit, Mima is just so much better for Extra. I'm still trying to get a Marisa 1cc of the game, but for some reason I cannot fight Alice with Marisa without losing a minimum of three lives :V

Well I've 1cc'd hard so I'm messing around with Lunatic a bit....won't get used to higher difficulties unless you'll play them :V

Goes for all difficulties though. The midboss noncards simply mess me up. Both stage 4 and 5.

Over 10 tries at clearing TEoSD Stage 6 Normal on Practice Mode.

Over 5 clipdeaths at the first fairies' barrage.

Normally, I could reach Remilia's Scarlet Shoot, but never did I once get past her opener... that is, if I don't Game Over before reaching her.

...Well, looks like I'm in no condition to play tonight.

PoDD normal.

No deaths up to Chiyuri. I had full health and she had half a heart, I lost. It seems that Chiyuri goes BATSHIT INSANE on her last heart. I probably shouldn't have ragequit but I did.

Also, Kotohime and Ellen are REALLY REALLY annoying.

UFO Extra.

Kogasa's first card. So easy to die for nonsensical reasons...

"Unidentified Darkness". Srsly ZUN. Wasn't Genetics of the Subconscious enough? Now I can't even see how the bullets move until they pretty much hit my f***ing face? BULLSHIT!

Kogasa is a dick....the first 2 spellcards especially. The 3rd one is easy....but the first 2 always kill me.

Ironically enough you guys are talking UFO Extra now. Today i went for a UFO extra run. I did win but the results was so goddamn horrible. As soon as i make it to the green UFO' spellcard i just lose every spellcard from there on out and i die 5 fucking times during the affair. I don't know if i should put that under the embarassing moments topic but it rages me more than it embarasses me because i realize during this run that Nue actually isn't all that great an extra boss. If you die you lose mandatory power (UFO's fault, not Nue's. ;)) and if you don't have that power it only increases the probabilities of getting killed at the next attack.

Frustrating. People tell me to use bombs but i don't want to use bombs. Why would that be necessary?

Oh and yes, Unidentified Darkness. Don't even get me started on that one. Its a spellcard of so flawed game design that it makes all EX Kogasa's spellcards look fun.

All in all, Nue has just lost my respect. Its not a good fight. Its a manageable fight that can easily be beaten but her attacks are bad, her stage is bad and EX Kogasa is bad as well.

Oh Nue, whatever is wrong with you?

How i'd wish i could hack Touhou games. Then i'd go and remove the stage portions of the extra levels altogether. They are just there to keep you from the actual boss which is bound to be the only reason you play them.

Unidentified Darkness, like pretty much all of Nue's cards, is completely trivial once you learn them(with a dash of random-ness, but that affects a lot of easy cards). The only "hard" cards are the last three.

Basically, bomb more. You complain about "DYING MAKES ME LOSE ALL MY POWER", yet you DECIDE to die instead of bomb.

Oh, and play StB.

I usually only bomb when i plan to do so. For the rest of the time i rely on my dodging skill and my death-bomb reflexes to pull me through which a lot of the time is enough.

And that "dying makes me lose power" is funny enough only an issue in my least favorite Touhou game. Maybe that's the reason. Dying in all the others (Heck even MS and LLS are good at restoring power after the phases) usually only means lost power until you take out a spellcard. With or without a bomb.

And you might have a point in the fact that Nue's cards must be learnt. That's something extra bosses usually do. Guess i'll go ask for the magical tricks where doing so is appropriate. Then i'll see if can manage better if i collect the masochism to play through the stage again.

Oh, and play StB.

This is amazing advice. Undefined Darkness is easy as long as you don't get screwed by a pincer movement of bullets or thinking you can get closer to the top of the screen than the game lets you, but you still need dodging skills and StB is the best way to learn how to dodge stuff.

I find bombs are fairly useful even when the boss doesn't take damage from them. For example, against Flandre's Cranberry Trap I've yet to figure out how to not fail on it, so I sometimes have to bomb it to avoid dying. Flandre won't take damage, but it at least gives me some breathing room and buys me some time to set up for another assault.

As for rage... Well, stage 4 and Satori are giving me a lot of problems as Patchouli/Marisa. What's worse is I know the trick to all of the cards, I just keep screwing up... I really can't stand Princess Undine, but at least Philosopher's Stone isn't as hard as it is in ESoD (and looks a lot more awesome, to boot).

Nitori/Marisa on the same stage is also a pain... With absolutely no spread to her name I have to use more bombs than I like (I still can't reliably deathbomb... Maybe half the time I can do it), especially on the part after midboss Orin, and.... Is it just me, or are Satori's version of Nitori's cards harder than the actual Nitori set? Because I can fight Nitori in MoF almost perfectly, yet Satori's version of her attacks always get me...

what the fucking fuck
UFO extra stage no deaths, all 3 Kogasa spells captured
red UFO
first a bullet to the face out of nowhere
then hit by an offscreen UFO

clipped her following nonspell
then clipped it again while raging

fact: you either fuck up the stage or the boss.

EDIT: Let me capture Grudge Bow already. Yet another phase 4 wallshit 2 seconds before killing her.

EDIT2: WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH KOKKURI SAN
IT'S FUCKING UNCAPTURABLE

...Though it seriously doesn't help that I do most of the first three stages unfocused <_<; The only exception being the boss battle with Keine... But if I don't, then those stages are sorta boring on Normal... And then of course, I actually tried to graze one of Marisa's attacks, and ended up simply slamming into a star wall :V

Perfect PCB Extra run up to Izuna Gongen. I die at the fourth wave when the small blue arrow bullets are appearing. I then finish the rest of the card perfectly.

So I'm going for a no-deaths run of IN extra.

Phoenix's Tail goes down despite me having no confidence, and I go up to collect my point items. I shout "ha, I thought I was dead but hitbox faith beats everything!".

Then Mokou telefrags me and I don't deathbomb in time. Even if I had, that would leave me with insufficient bombs for Rings of Death and Volcano.

Unhappy.

no-deaths

IN extra.

insufficient bombs for

Volcano.

Fujiyama Volcano is easy and should be a 100% sure capture if you're going for no-deaths. I even went as far as trying this.

Argh damnit seriously what the hell, I used to be able to beat Izuna Gongen without that much trouble... I've perfected everything up to that card in PCB Extra at least 7 or 8 times now.

EDIT: Also, I'm more-often-than-not failing at Charming Siege. Is there something I'm missing here or is this basically partially luckshit?
