X3: Triti is when I threw the towel. I felt like the game was laughing at me.

Triti in any operation isn't so bad when you properly corner it. Deftera and Paraskevi were always the worst for me, though, with the exception of X1, which is just awful.

Until Triti is all like "OH LOL THREE MIST NEEDLES IN A ROW AT THE SAME TIME AS FIVE EDGE NEEDLES SPAWN GOOD LUCK LOLOL", which it does almost every friggin' time.

Remind me what is so great about that one game about an emo kid again? (TWEWY) I played past the first day too, but I couldn't bother to finish it. That game had some of the worst controls I have ever seen. The rom of that game is currently sitting in my computer's recycle bin.

I can't imagine how you can play TWEWY via emulator.  You can barely control it on a DS.

TWEWY gets better after the first six days, and not just because the soundtrack doubles in size.

I didn't play it on an emulator. I have a cyclods evolution.. yay for pirating! Yea... what I meant when I said that was I deleted TWEWY from my cycloDS and I still haven't emptied my recycle bin.

Well, I don't know what the opinions of others would be, but in spite of its easiness, The Legendary Starfy is a pretty fun and charming game, to me. It's easy at first, sure, but it's got tons of replay value with all the things to find and places to explore, even after you beat the game (there are even TWO postgame worlds!), and a funny and whimsical plot.

Starfy was put out by the same people who did Kirby...
What are the differences between the two?

Everyone always compares those two... but Starfy is, in fact, WAY different than Kirby if you actually played it....and in fact, no Starfy is not by the same people as Kirby. It's just that they are both Nintendo games, but then again Metroid is also a Nintendo game, but no one compares it and Kirby.

If people could just get past the concept of "Oh, it looks similar to Kirby", then they would come to appreciate Starfy for what it is, instead of constantly calling it a copy of something it isn't.

I blame Nintendo Power for any and all misinformation I may have received on the subject.

In any event, could you describe it for me?  I'm interested, but I'm tired of paying $30 for games I can beat in 30 hours.  (Not 30 gameplay hours, but 30 hours after buying it on a school day)

Well, the game puts you in control of an adorable little starfish...thing, and you go through a variety of levels, both on land and in water. The water controls are among the smoothest I've experienced in a platformer, when most of the time in other games swimming is a chore. A lot of levels contain both land and water segments, and the game transitions between the two quite smoothly.

Starfy attacks by doing a sort of "spinning" attack, which starts out rather weak but gets better as you progress through the game. You also get a ton of various extra moves as you progress, such as a diving attack to smash through floors, and double jumps and gliding. The acquisition of these upgrades to Starfy's arsenal can often lead to hidden routes in stages already cleared, giving new reasons to replay them and find goodies and unlockables. There are also 4 different "transformations" Starfy gets to use to get through certain puzzles and situations, which include turning into a dragon that can breathe fire to burn away thick plants, a seal that can dash through tough currents, a chicken that can use sonic blasts to hit things through walls (yeah, I know it's weird) and a ghost that can fly around land stages against gravity, and pass through spike walls.

The plot is weird and funny, and told through a hilarious and cute comicbook style.

As said before, the story mode is pretty easy to get through, but there are tons of secrets and extras that give it a nice replay value. From Boss attack mode, to collectible enemy figures, to TWO extra worlds after beating the game, Starfy can keep you busy for quite awhile. :)

The ca$h value of all the DS games I want in a year is roughly 60 bucks.

@Starfy:  Okay, I'll get it for Christmas break so I can weather the inevitable road trip.

I suggest Rondo of Swords. It's a tactics game with a rather unique system for battle. It's damn hard and is quite different from titles like Advance Wars or Fire Emblem, in terms of strategy involved.

Wait until X1: Kyriaki. I finished that one at 00:00:03 left and I am never playing it again. It is the only one I'll never, ever S-Rank because finishing it with three tenths of a second was just so cool that I don't want to change it.

Whoa. I thought my 0.8 seconds on the first clear was close.

I totally agree with Phantasy Star Zero being a recommendation.  The Dreamcast games were awesome, the DS version is very similar.  Of course, it is always better with Wi-Fi and three other friends.

Dangit, because of my newcomer status, I'm still uncomfortable about posting :|
Though you say you're into RPGs, I'm just gonna go and suggest whatever. These games are all highly addicting, and can be considered casual.

PICROSS. YES.
Picross (aka nonograms) is, like, the best puzzle game ever. If you ever liked newspaper puzzles, this is a must-have.
Now, if you don't like those kind of things... Go broaden your horizons and buy this game anyway.
This game makes Sudoku look boring, and this is coming from someone who used to be addicted to it.

If you can find one online, I highly recommend METEOS. YES.
This is a falling-block puzzler. Meteos is to Tetris as Picross is to Sudoku. That is all I shall say.

The Professor Layton series is another great one. It has a good plot, nice music, wonderful animations, and plenty of riddles, brainteasers, etc. You may also want to get Rhythm Heaven, but I don't have much to say about this one. It's just addicting and wonderfully satisfying.
Oh, and of course I must finish with this: Kirby Canvas Curse and Kirby Super Star Ultra. Because Kirby is awesome.

I would reccomend Dragon quest V. It's the greatest DS rpg in my opinion so far... with a lot of dialogue and the old school turn based system, along with great fashioned 2D mixed with 3D graphics.

Sweetness and love~ ♥

Ehh... Maybe not.
Swap for Kirby and the Amazing Mirror.

Giana Sisters was a commercially released 1987 C64 game which was almost immediately pulled from store shelves upon sale because of its extreme resemblance to Super Mario Bros.  There are other versions of the game for the Amstrad CPC, Amiga, Atari ST, and Spectrum but they pale in comparison to the C64 original.

Now, the original Giana Sisters was certainly inferior to the original Super Mario Bros., despite being a competent game.  However, Spellbound Interactive released a commercial re-imagining of the Giana Sisters for the DS in April 2009.  Giana Sisters DS updates the original Giana Sisters graphics immensely, has over 100 all new levels, and a recreation of the original game's levels can be unlocked.

Short version:  Giana Sisters 1987 <<  Super Mario Bros.
Giana Sisters DS    >>  New Super Mario Bros. DS

I wonder how this unofficial sequel will turn out.

Swap for Kirby and the Amazing Mirror.
Well... Yeah, Amazing Mirror is definitely better. I'll have to agree. Still, both are fun, and have nice, big chunks of replay value. Of course, KatAM's not really a DS game.

Well! Anything Kirby is good! Most of the time. Squeak Squad failed miserably.

Canvas Curse was kind of tedious at times, honestly. Or at least obtaining the medals was, if only because of the time trials and Paint Panic.

Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney , try and the only word you can say is "AWESOME" :V

Torment around me. Torment in me. Torment with me.
And let us conquer our foes. They do not understand our pain...Do you?
No. Not a soul can.
And for that, we shall make them feel the torment...The torment that inhabits my soul.
