> Pause, then take another bite of the soup before setting it aside. "Okay, Archer."
> "In high school there was a boy in the same grade as me named Barry Macpherson. He was a 6'3" douchebag on the football team with lots of popular friends, and he liked to make fun of anyone that was heavy or looked weird or whatever, myself included. But I didn't get it as bad as some other kids."
> "Now, for the most part, this is part of the normal highschool experience. But in senior year he really cranked up the asshole factor to the max."
> "One time, he started harassing this one girl, showing everyone this weird porn video of a woman fucking Ronald McDonald and insisting it was her because they looked a little similar. It got so bad she had to leave the school."
> "Another time, he and his friends goaded another guy into a fight and beat the crap out of him, and his friends all made up a story to make it look like he attacked Barry. He got sent to juvie."
> "Worst was prom night, when he tried to force himself on his girlfriend. Fortunately he was drunk enough that she was able to lose him. Nobody could convince her to press charges though, so he got away with it."
> "I can't even list all the little terrible things the guy did. Just an absolute scumbag."
> "Anyway, apparently he was on the fast track for a football scholarship and somebody had come out to scout him on one of the final games of the year."
> "In the third quarter, he caught a long pass and only had to dodge one guy to make it a touchdown. But as he turned, he tripped and slammed right into the guy. He was going so fast that he twisted up his leg and messed up his neck. He was injured so bad that he couldn't play football for a year, so he didn't get the scholarship and couldn't get into college without it. The medical bills ruined him. Got what he deserved."
> Lean in. "But he didn't really trip, Archer. Not on his own. I was at that game and I waited for the perfect moment to cast Halt on him."
> Lean back.
> "My only regret is that he didn't break his neck like I intended."
