So now that they're out, what do you guys think of the Constellations?
There's a lot to dislike about them. They have the most generic cookie-cutter stats we've seen in a pantheon in a looooong time (possibly ever?), lack of skillboosts is annoying, they use the popcorn mechanic which I at least find to be awkward and overused, they don't bring anything particular to the table that's new, they don't easily fit into a lot of teams due to their lack of rows or prongs, and one of their big selling points (double lock resists) is possible to overshoot and invalidate.
Despite all of that I kind of like them. I like that they're pushing orb enhance, which is a mechanic I've been finding myself liking a lot. Although they're not great at it yet, two orb enhances still isn't special at all, but I expect they'll get interesting when their evolutions come out. I like their leader skills despite how generic they are and their use of popcorn. Compared to Sumire, for example, I would rather have a Constellation any day, at least in the leader skill department. Sumire has the obvious benefit of a ridiculously spammable active, but I would rather have consistent, if bypassable, damage reduction and a slightly lower multiplier over huge but hard-to-set-up damage reduction just about any day.
As subs they seem like a bit of a hard sell, but that double lock resist means they certainly have a niche. And their active, while not especially new or exciting, is rock solid on certain teams. The "orbchange something normal as well as jammers and/or poison" mechanic limits itself to monocolored teams since there's pretty much no way you're pulling off any strenuous rainbow stuff after all of that orbchanging to one color, but that's true of most orbchangers, and they don't pay too harshly for all of the added effects, cooldown-wise.
