It is never an unreasonable choice to bank on the Falcons, Cardinals, and Eagles all shitting the bed.

If 2 of them do it's bad

Does anyone actually read these big effort posts?  I'm going to keep posting them regardless, but just wanted to ask.

we'll see what the record is at the end of the season. i don't think we'll do brilliantly, but only win one more game?
Unless NC State is actually The Hulk at night but Bruce Banner in the rain, they're really cruising for some pain coming up.  Next week is the bye, and boy howdy do they need it to hopefully try and pull themselves together and try to get something going on either side of the ball.

Coming off the bye is the Wake Forest game in Winston-Salem, and you know as well as I do that State (for some crazy reason) just cannot play well in WS, and that Wake seems to pull everything together and channel old Jim Grobe teams and beat us.  With that said, Wake just won against BC so they aren't exactly desperate for a win and maybe we can use that do our advantage.  Additionally, I heard an interesting stat on the radio: under second year coach Clawson, Wake is 0-8 in ACC games when scoring a TD but 2-1 in ACC games when not scoring a TD (including this past weekend 3-0 win over BC) so maybe let them score on the first drive and then turn on the jets!

Fun fact: the ACC coaches in NC are collectively known as "Three Daves and a Hat".  They are Clawson of Wake, Doeren of State, Cutcliffe of Duke, and Larry Fedora of UNC.

Next is hosting Clemson on Halloween, and even though Carter-Finley stadium is magic at night and can cause some crazy upsets, this is not the year.  When was the last time we even beat Clemson?  God I hate Clemson!

At Boston College the week after, with one of the best defenses in the country.  Even though BC is unrelentingly awful on offense, that defense is still extremely stingy and if State goes up to Chestnut Hill riding a 0-4 ACC streak and just having been blown out at home by Clemson there will be no way in HELL they get a win this week.

At Florida State: No way.  If Dalvin Cook is still healthy he'll be like a sieve through our D-line.  State hasn't won in Tallahassee since 2005 and won't start this year, especially if FSU already has a loss by then.

Hosting Syracuse: Cuse is bad and we should win this game easily.

Hosting UNC: Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu- *passes out*

Even if State manages to squeeze out an additional win (probably BC but maybe Wake) they'll hit 6-6 and have a date in Shreveport with the afterthought Independence Bowl to get shellacked by Mississippi State, and Doeren will be 5-19 in ACC play after 3 years.  Just smdh bro, not worth it.  Brissett still looks scared and holds on to the ball for way too long, and even though he can run it's worthless to have his running ability stashed away because his passing skills aren't a big enough threat to try and defend against both.  Matt Canada has refused in the past two games (which were both in the rain with our team averaging 5+ yards per carry) to call for runs on first down.  Oh look, an incomplete pass, now they'll pass AGAIN on second and third and now they're punting it away.  GO TEAM!!!

Not much to say in response since I'm nowhere near as invested in the Carolina sports scene as you are, though, but I have enough family down there that it's good to have additional opinions

I'd care less about college football if I hadn't gone to a "Power 5" school, and even still I prefer college basketball to college football.  But hey, my team was on a bye so there wasn't anything else for me to do right then.

all of what you said objectively makes some sort of sense.

however, this is college football. nothing happens like its supposed to.

I'd take one more win this year if it was against Clemson.

Seriously.  Who knew Vick still had those wheels.

So that makes both USCs (Southern Cal and South Carolina) to lose their coaches this week.  Impressive.

Survivor pool update:
Vic, Edible, and yuyukos are all still out at 0-1 and I utilized my additional time well this past weekend by taking an extra close glance and ensuring the neck line of my beard was just perfect and hope you spent your additional seconds equally well.
kagiyamahina: 4-0 (Arizona, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Yinzers)
Kilga: 4-0 (Minnesota, New England, Washington, Tampa Bay [why])
PX: 3-1 (Dallas, Indianapolis, Jets, Jacksonville [also why]) OUT!
With that said, I actually had the Jags pegged to win that game as well.  Given the horrendous state of football in Miami (and the likeliness of that continuing after they hired Generic Tough High School Football Macho Bullshit Guy) and the complete lack of improvement in Tampa Bay after adding shellfish enthusiast Winston under center, Jacksonville in all their "hurf durf worst team not named the Browns" ineptness had a fantastic opportunity to become the undisputed King Of Florida, which is a title that no one should really want.  I have to wonder what the issues with the Jags (and the Browns to a lesser extent) are, because year after year and pick after pick and coach after coach they remain a model of staggering mediocrity at best.  Bortles is developing into a decent passer and Hurns is a promising receiver, but they have no other players of note currently and will likely be adding another high draft pick to start next year alongside Fowler.  Frankly I would love for the Jags to be relevant in the national scene because I'm sick of the Colts and I'm sick of the Houston Watts and seriously does anyone actually like the Titans!?!?

Speaking of knee injuries, I find myself wondering often what is causing the rise in ACL tears in the modern NFL.  With Jamaal Charles tearing his right ACL last weekend (after tearing his left in 2011) and the NFL recognizing 31 ACL tears in 2013 (while independent sources have the number pegged at higher than 60) the question must be asked: Is this only an effect of the athletes becoming much bigger and stronger than ever at the expense of their bodies not being able to keep up?  A significant number of ACL tears come from non-contact injuries, as seen in Charles and Kelvin Benjamin in this preseason, so the problem can't just be waved away as "the game is too violent these days" (though that's a discussion for another time).  Is it a side effect of the specialized and exact nutrition in which many of the players now partake?  Gone seem to be the days of guys eating and drinking whatever and then hoping to burn it all off on the field.  Can it be contributed somehow to the current move to less intense practices within the league?  Even though it's no longer the career-ending injury that it once was, and it's certainly not an epidemic like CTE and associated degenerative brain damage, I remain curious as to why this injury is on the rise.

I have both Chiefs RBs now hmu for trades, need QB or WR

Before launching into my usual Panthers-centric post, I need to make a confession.  The Atlanta Falcons are probably the best team in the NFC South.  Matt Ryan to Julio Jones is quite possibly the most unstoppable tandem in the league right now, and Freeman is pounding the rock like nobody's business.  Dan Quinn has shored up the defense apparently through sheer willpower and while they aren't world-beaters on that side of the ball they can make the big stops when needed and provide the offense their chance to come back on the field and win.  So far they've beaten the entire NFC East and the completely inept Houston J.J.s, and while they needed comeback wins against the Giants, Eagles and Washington they were able to show that they were the dominant team.  Their only decisive wins so far came against Brandon Weeden and Ryan Mallet, and yet no one seems to be regarding the their schedule as soft.  Meanwhile the Panthers schedule against Luke McCown (who almost won that game), Jameis Winston, Bortles, and that same Houston team is seen as soft.  Rather than split hairs I will declare that both these schedules are "good" and both teams are "great".  The Falcons will carry their momentum into tonight's game with the Saints and on against the Titans and Tampa, and their schedule is easier than the Panthers moving forward because they do not play the Seahawks or the Packers, so there is a remarkable chance that their upcoming series against each other could be to decide NFC South champ vs Wild Card team.  I hate the Falcons so much but damn do I respect them this year.

MY F-ING FANTASY TEAM RGHGHGHRHGRHGRHGHRGHRHGHRGGHH!!!!!111111111111111  Tom Brady is the only decent player on this team and if it weren't for him I would have started fielding Tim Tebow in an attempt to win the number 1 pick next year!  Bridgewater is now my only other QB after I jettisoned Winston and he's coming off a bye so I just PRAY THAT HE REMEMBERED HOW TO NOT SUCK AT FOOTBALL!!!  Antonio Brown may as well be a ghost because Michael Vick sure as shit isn't trying to establish him as the center of the offense LIKE HE FUCKING SHOULD BE!!!  "Oh Vic but what about Le'Veo-" HE'S NOT ON MY TEAM SO I HATE HIM! BRING BACK DEANGELO WILLIAMS HE WAS PRODUCING MORE! NO SHUT UP ABOUT YOUR STATS AND NUMBERS!!!  OBJ has apparently decided to no longer make amazing catches and has thus exposed himself as WORTHLESS AND TERRIBLE!!!  T.Y. Hilton more like T.Y. Do The Colts Think You're A Good Receiver When The Only Good Player On Their Entire Roster Is The Actual Sasquatch Disguised As A Man.  MIKE EVANS YOU FUCK I HATE YOU SO MUCH AND I HOPE THE BUCS LOSE EVERY GAME AND YOU RUINED MY TEAM!  HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL!?!?!  Gio Bernard continues to show that he's a better player than Hill but the Bungles clearly know better and take great pleasure in my suffering every week as they continue to refuse to give Gio the rock on every down.  Chris Ivory is coming off a bye and better perform against Washington because if he can't clown them like he did Miami then holy shit just fucking retire in the post-game interview.  Jason Witten is on bye and I wound up having to grab Jordan Cameron again who is trying to catch passes from a QB who gets clowned by his practice squad, TANNEHILL YOU BETTER NOT SCREW ME THIS WEEK!!!  Willie Snead and Travis Benjamin better turn out as the WR1 that they both secretly are and only I know that which is why they're stashed on my team ahahahahahahahahahaha.  Knile Davis and Charcandrick West: Y'all better figure out this weekend which on y'all is the RB1 because I don't need any RBBC production split between a starter and my bench OR ELSE!!!!!!!!
