Touhou 9 English + V-Sync patch combo not possible?

since i started using the V-sync patch i just can't go back! the controls without it just feel awful 

i managed to play touhou 6-7-8 in english by renaming the V-Sync patch app to thXX.exe (where XX is the game number), and then installing the English patch.
this way the installer of the english patch thinks the V-Sync app is the original launch app of the game, and it actually installs the english over the V-sync patched launcher, combining both patches in effect.

However, that doesn't work with touhou 9. the installer for the english patch is different (it uses a command line interface similar to the thCRAP one), and when i try to do the same trick it can't recognize the V-sync app as the game launcher... and it just gives fail message and abort install...

is there really no way to get both the V-sync and English patch running at the same time on this game...? 

am i really gonna have to either play it with sh*t controls, or have to alt-tab at every line of dialogue to read the translation from the Wiki? that's really a letdown...

wait what. What english patches are you using? Your setup is really weird, and I'm surprised it even works.
This is how mine is, and how it should be imo.

th09j.exe -- original Japanese game exe, renamed.
th09.exe -- English-patched game exe, renamed.
vpatch.exe -- VSync patch, which looks for th09.exe regardless of whether th09.exe is Japanese or English.

Open the Touhou 9 english patch, patch the unmodified un-vpatched th09.exe, use the traditional script and images and Arabic scores, install the Cirno.ttf font, then rename th09e.exe to th09.exe and run vpatch.exe.

Wait... Wha? So you renamed vpatch.exe to thxx.exe, and then tried to install the english patch on that? What the hell? If this magically worked for any game you ended up doing some voodoo shit because that is not the way any of this works lol.

Were there, say, instructions that came with your copy of the vsync patch?

no, actually, i had done just like shockdude said all the former times, i did it now for Touhou 9 and it works...  :blush: i feel stupid now.

truth is, yesterday it was late, i was in a semi-Zombie state, and i i haven't installed a Touhou Game in month, so i'd just misremembered how i did it all the other times...
so thanks for the reminder and your quick answers, and sorry for wasting time  :V
