>Still dreaming? DRAMATIC FORESHADOWING DREAM SEQUENCE!
[5] BONUS: Your next roll gets 1 added to it.
You find yourself on a strange path leading to darkness. The sky seems to swirl with unnatural colors, and you swear you heard voices behind you. Several fairies fly about, giggling as they pass you. Strangely, you're conscious (if that's the right word) enough to realize that you're in some kind of dream world.

> Will yourself up and out of there! You're in no shape to fight anymore, so find your way to some medical attention, and fast! (Highly unrealistic, I know, but it's RtD; 6's can kick reason to the curb and make the impossible possible)
[1] Many blood vessels are punctured and most of your left humerus is ruptured, causing excruciating pain that takes away all your senses. Unable to take the shock, you faint and collapse onto the floor. Everything begins to fade, and soon you find yourself looking down at the bloody mess that was once your body.

You are dead.

>"...I... no way... I understand Gensokyo's all about the belief in youkai, and magic, and mysticism, but... to KILL someone just because they believe in science... that'd be no different from genociding the kappa for what THEY do. Agh, something's wrong in Reimu's head right now, and I don't know what, but she's committing unwarranted murder!"

>What to do... we need help, and fast. If Reimu found Patorikku and sock, they're probably goners. We need backup from the higher-ups, someone who'd be able to reasonably match Reimu. Maybe Yukari will see that Reimu's messing up, or maybe Yukari's supporting her actions, I don't know. Hopefully her or Marisa or someone will be able to help out... there's a better solution to this than murder.

>"I'm going to look for someone who can help with all of this. There were two people with Haruko before, but there's a chance Reimu might have found them. She caught me, but I slipped away without telling her anything. If there's anyone you can send to go assist then, please, send them. They're probably in mortal danger right now. I'm really sorry about this, but... I CAN'T let this continue. Thank you for your time, Miss Kamishirasawa."

>Okay, after all of this, let's go looking for help. Someone's gotta be around who's strong enough to challenge Reimu!

Also I don't mind the plot dump, it lets me have a long response in return. I feel like an unmatched sock slightly now. :V
[3] Every second you spend preparing means that the clock ticks closer to the deaths of those you left behind in the forest, so you quickly conjure up a mental list of those that might be of help:
  • Marisa: Longtime friend (and rival) of Reimu, could possibly convince (or fight) her and better the situation. Of course, her living in the Forest of Magic means you'll have to go back there and risk getting caught again.
  • Yukari: You remember hearing a conversation where she was mentioned as "being involved" in the incident. Is she with her or against her?
  • Sanae: She recently appeared in Gensokyo, bringing the Moriya Shrine and its two gods with her. People say she has the power to create miracles, but just how effective is that?
  • The Dragon God: You've only heard about that, and it's an incredibly far-fetched idea to bring it him in to this.

You have an important decision to make, and you're lost in the swirling thoughts within your head. Who will you choose to find first?

>"Thank you for the assistance. May we meet in the future again, hopefully I'll be able to repay the favor." Head out of the house and start following the dirt track, avoiding any mushrooms with clear vision thanks to the lantern.
[2] Some distance into the forest, a strong wind blows the lantern out. Without a source of light, you find it very difficult to continue ahead.

>Apply bandages and witch hazel with Rinnosuke's help
[6] Rinnosuke grinds the leaves with the help of a mortar and pestle as you unwrap the bandages. After coating the sticky side with fine grains of witch hazel, you apply the bandages over the wounds.
"Oh, and you still want these knives, right?"
He points to the collection of weapons you picked out, which are still sitting on the counter.

> Check and see what Marisa's doing at the moment.
[3](+1) Marisa just gave FlamingRok a lantern and led her to the path to the Human Village. Now, she looks like she's preparing a potion of some sort, using the liquid in the cauldron.

Oh wow, it worked. Thanks, I guess!
>Groan to reaffirm survival status.
[4] You groan loudly enough that NekoNekoRex and the receptionist hear you clearly.

>"First, I want answers. Why is this one human girl so special to you that you're trying to erase her life? I had gotten the impression at first that you protect humans, not destroy them whenever you feel like it for undiscernable reasons." Sounds rather youkai-like to me.
>>Assuming she hasn't outright tried to kill me yet, say "Well...okay, look, I know I'm no match for you. So whatever, I'll just tell you. After we lost you, I found this little red mansion near a lake. Luckily, the guard in front didn't see us as I flew us in over the wall. Luckily, there was a door in the ground that led to a surprisingly large wine cellar. Weird, red wine, I believe. I told her to lay low, I'd come and find her later. Advised her that going through the other door supposedly further into the mansion was most likely a bad idea. Unfortunately...it looks like you found me first. Just...just don't tell her I gave her away, yeah?"
>If she doesn't listen (or elects to ignore the above monologue), intercept her danmaku with a shield (like Nuclear Visor in Hisoutensoku) to disrupt her danmaku, and keep her moving with danmaku of my own. "You're really not going to give up, are you?" Striking her would also work, a little incentive to stop attacking me. Just not outright obliteration. Not yet.
[3] "First [...] reasons."
"You want answers? I'll explain! Whatever that thing is, it holds information that cannot not be seen, and it must be destroyed. I've seen what it did to the people who got possessed by it. They tried to break down the barrier, I tried to stop them, but they attacked me and actually weakened it. Their minds got so twisted that I had to end their lives myself. It was a small price to pay for the continued existence of Gensokyo, and it wasn't even a complete decision on my part. I tried to exorcise the malicious spirits that had taken over their bodies, but it didn't work. There was a time when I didn't want to kill them either, but there was no other choice. If I had let them live, they would have broken down the barrier between Gensokyo and the outside world. And if that happens, Gensokyo will collapse into the degeneracy that is the outside world!"
Reimu pushes you aside and slashes through the bushes with a purification rod.
"I told you before to stay out of this. You don't look like you're possessed, so I'll let you live. Go to the village, get some sleep, it will be over when you wake up~"
"SOCK! PAT! WH- WHERE ARE YOU! YOU... YOU SAID YOU'D PR- PROTECT ME!!!"
"SHUT UP, WATSUKI!!! OR I'LL EXTERMINATE YOU RIGHT NOW!"

>Ha ha! Victory! I guess that makes up for crashing with wherever he's staying tonight, right?

>Drag him (not literally, of course) up to where we're sleeping for the night so he can sleep his near-death experience off.

[4]{+1) Dudu Zombolt groans loudly, as if trying to convey that he is in too much pain to get up. You figure that he'll eventually get better and follow you up, so you follow the receptionist to your room and tell her to keep an eye on him while he's recovering. While you're waiting, you take a look around the room. There's two tatami mats laid out in the center, and four lit lanterns hanging on opposite walls. A small table stands next to the door, and on top of it are two cups of green tea and what appears to be a stack of newspapers.

> Shrug and head on out of the house.
[6] Without saying anything, you leave quietly behind Marisa's back as she carefully pours steaming pink liquid into small glass containers. Not too long after you venture into the forest, you find a patch of glowing white mushrooms which you use as a source of light. It seems that they lose their glow after you pull them away from the ground, although they do so very slowly. You'll be able to light the way for the next 3 turns.

>"Yep."
>"Do you have anything to hold them in?"
[4] "Of course!"
Rinnosuke points to a collection of kinfe sheathes. Most of them are made of leather, and they feel quite durable as you run your fingers over them.
"How about 6000 for the knives and sheathes?"

>Sanae... right, they're from the outside world, they'd understand what's going on much better than Reimu does. The Moriya Shrine goddesses and shrine maiden might be our only shot! To the Youkai Mountain, as fast as possible!
[4] It's very dark outside, yet your desire to prevent further bloodshed gives you the determination to hurry yourself to the Moriya Shrine as fast as you possibly can.

As you approach, a voice calls out to you.
"Well, you look new... What are you here for?"

> Goddamn shrine maiden... This isn't going unpunished!
> Revive as close as you can to the scene.
>> If Reimu's in sight right away, get a surprise attack in on her.
>> If there's still a distance to cover, start sprinting!
[1] You revive in a familiar forest...

...of tall bamboo stalks that almost block out the night sky.

>"Pat, take care of her! I'm getting Reimu out of here!
>"GET AWAY FROM HER, BITCH!!" Flaming tackle that will incinerate any danmaku coming my way. Douse flame, grab Reimu, making sure to keep her arms pinned to her sides so she can't do anything. Fly out over the forest, and find a secluded location far, far away from the forest, or the Human Village, whichever I see first.
>>Failing that,  use my forward movement to get between Reimu and Haru. Fuse the atoms in Reimu's gohei to cause it to explode in her hand. "Haru, get Pat up and get the hell out of here!" Generate spell card: "Solar Flare 'Nuclear Suppression'!" At this point I don't care about collateral damage, as long as Haru isn't stupid and runs in my line of fire. "With the power of the Yatagarasu, I shall devour you in a nuclear blaze! I WILL NOT FAIL MY PROMISE!!"
[1] "Pat [...] here!"
His body lies motionless on the ground.
You charge forward at the Shrine Maiden of Paradise as you prepare to summon an aura of nuclear flame around your body. It seems that you weren't concentrating hard enough because the fire never grows beyond a few sparks as she turns around to slash you right through your neck...

...In a flash of white light, you find yourself looking down at a nightmarish scene. Though you can't hear anything, Haru appears to be screaming as she lies on the ground. Reimu throws the laptop in front of her and gives it a swift kick, sending shards of glass and plastic in all directions.

You are dead.

>"Rotten luck..." Continue onwards inside the darkness. We will use the sounds of the dirt track to keep myself from walking onto any grassy area.
[1] Not long after you continue forward, you trip and fall right into a patch of fluorescent red mushrooms. Poison spores enter your bloodstream and knock you out within seconds.

You are dead.

>Heal up via... I dunno, deep concentration. I didn't pay for a room just to sleep under some stairs, damnit.
[3] The pain subsides to a mild sore as you channel your fresh life-energy through your back and neck. You stand up and ascend the stairs to your room, where NekoNekoRex is reading the news. You shouldn't have been too hasty, because the sore begins to intensify shortly after.

>Explore dream world for plot-relevant information
[2](+1) Pieces of burnt, torn paper rain down from the purple sky. You can make out letters and numbers on them, though they are largely unreadable as a result of whatever damage they've gone through.

[5] BONUS: Your next roll gets 1 added to it.
How long has it been since you shot that path through? Oh, right, it's only been a day, which means the bamboo hasn't grown back. Despite the fact that dark clouds have started to block out the moon, you run right back to the Forest of Magic. Shortly after you enter, FlamingRok materializes next to you. In the corner of your vision a silhouette of a bird takes to the sky, leaving behind a trail of lime-green vapor.

>I...I do not accept this. I can not accept this.
>Rise again. A mere shrine maiden can't keep a god down. I don't care if the Yatagarasu completely takes over at this point. I would welcome its embrace.
>SAVE HER.
[4] Anger, determination, and heroism combine to invoke the Yatagarasu contained within your spirit. Energy gathers as you assume its form, spread your wings and swoop down to snatch Haru up with incredible speed, leaving behind a trail of lime-green nuclear steam. There are deep cuts all over her body, and you can't help but notice the needle sticking into her stomach. She looks up at you and mumbles between coughs of blood.
"S- So- Sock... Is... th- that y- you? We ne- need to g- get to t- the M- Mor- iya Sh- Shrine..."

It appears that Reimu was too busy destroying the remains of the laptop to notice what you've done. And even if she did, the chances of her finding you, let alone catching up to you, would be very slim.

>What is this, ambiguity? I demand better dream information than that!
>failing that, wake up already. If nothing else, the news should have what's going on.
[5] As if the gods read your thoughts, a bolt of lightning from above strikes the pieces of paper, burning the rest of the letters in place.
  • The Moriya Shrine may lead to miracles but only a [6] can save everyone
  • Yukari is against everyone so it is not advisable to seek her help
  • Yuuka had been sentenced as guilty and will serve her sentence of 60 years
  • Her mother is alive and hiding in Gensokyo

Another piece of paper lands down in front of your foot. Scrawled in blood is the following:
SHE IS ALMOST DEAD

>"Ah, Miss Kochiya? Miss Yasaka? Miss Moriya? Whichever you are, please, I need your help..."
>Wait for the voice to reveal herself. If it's one of the three, explain the whole thing. If not, see who it is first. I'm not going to risk telling a potential enemy about what's going on.
[4] "It is I, Kanako Yasaka, Goddess of the Moriya Shrine. What is it that you need?"
You explain everything to her, starting with the incident at the village, followed by the forest confrontation. Before you mention your talk with Keine, she hurries into the shrine as lights come on. As you wait outside, you hear a screaming voice.
"SHE WHAT?!"
Sanae rushes outside with an expression of disbelief and urgency. Shortly after, Kanako and Suwako fly out to hover beside her.
"The girl. Haruko. We need to bring her here right now. She's probably in a life-threatening condition, and it might be too late already."

>A Shrine Maiden attacking innocent humans??!? CLEARLY THIS SHRINE MAIDEN NEEDS TO GET CUDDLY!
>>Fly out the window and straight to the Hakurei Shrine. Jumping out of a second story expecting to fly is clearly a masterful idea and can in no way go wrong at all.
[4] You jump out the window and take flight towards the Hakurei Shrine. There doesn't appear to be anyone there, so you hide in the bushes next to the torii.

>Well that didn't last long. Attempt to respawn either near my dead body (away from the red mushrooms) or a person stuck in the forest.
[6] You respawn in your previous body, right next to Patorikku. A silhouette of a bird takes to the sky, leaving behind a trail of lime-green vapor.

>Buy 'em.

Wait, it took me longer to buy knives than unmatched sock to follow along the story?
[3] As you count through the wad of bills, the bandages start to disintegrate into flakes. After all, they've been sitting there for decades, and they certainly can't stand too much flexing.

Money -?6000 (total ?9991000)

> Pick mushrooms, acquire bio-luminescence.
[3] You eat the mushrooms in hopes that the bioluminescent spores will be absorbed into your body...

...which seems to be the case, except that you don't glow as bright as you expected. Whereas the mushrooms give off 100% of their light, you only give off 20% or so.

>Gape at the window, before collapsing on the tatami.
[6] Your jaw drops to the floor as NekoNekoRex jumps out of the window, dips towards the ground, and floats up towards the sky. After she's no more than a speck in the night sky, you fall backwards onto the tatami. A surge of pain runs through your back as everything that was once out-of-place snaps back into place, extinguishing the aches that plagued you since your revival.

> Take a quick look at Rok, and scan the area real quick. You're a bit busy to deal with small talk.

>> In case of shrine maiden, acknowledge that you have legs and use them to hastily escape the area, as you are ill equipped to beat the crap out of her right now.

> In any case, do the thing and then take off following that lime green trail. Why? You don't actually have any clue what that trail is, but you also have no clue what sock's powers looked like in the first place, so for all you know, that's probably him.
