> Grow all powerful from eating a random mushroom nearby.
[2](+1) You find the nearest mushroom and shove it into your mouth. Nothing seems to happen, but after a while you feel a sensation of heightened awareness. Rather than increasing physical or magical strength as you had hoped, it seems that the fluorescent blue mushroom you ate gave you a boost of adrenaline.

ACHIVEMENT UNLOCKED - A Smack to Death's Face: Perform a risky action after a +1 bonus has been applied.

>TIME TO ROCK OUT! Report to the Mahjong Parlor, gain another day's wages.
[1](+1) You walk up to the mahjong parlor. The door is locked shut, and there's a "CLOSED" sign placed behind a window.

>bring it up to the counter
>Ask Rinnosuke about it
[4] "Oh, this? It's just an ordinary oil-burning lamp. Hmmm... how does 700 sound?"

>"Hm? Oh, don't worry, I'll be fine." To everyone: "Alright, I'll set a fire so we can keep warm tonight." Generate a small sun that gives off enough heat like a fire. Fusion supports its own fire! And once it's done, bring it into the sudden cave system and look about for anything: spiders, more tunnels, bats, etc. Make sure to keep damaged arm out of harm's way. Not even bumping into anything is allowed.
>"Good on you for finding this cave, Pat."
[4] *FSSSS~*
Using your free hand, you reach for the glowing self-contained ball of nuclear fire that materializes from the tip of your gun. Using it to light the way ahead, you take extra caution not to agitate your wound as you crawl under the bushes to find a place to lie down. Aside from ant-like insects crawling on the ground and glowing violet worms wriggling beneath the soil that come close to the surface every now and then, there doesn't appear to be anything else.
"Umm, Sock, was it? About the youkai notes you wanted to see..."
It seems like Haru was following you this whole time. She crawls forward and lies between the branches of a thick bush which forms a roof above her.

> "Aw shucks, it isn't anything new to me. I used to hunt all around the forest in the other world. But eh... Are we short a person all of a sudden?"
> You've found a good cave to keep safe in, and the general party isn't in the best of shape, so just stick it out near the cave. Take first watch, if necessary.
[5] BONUS: Your next roll gets 1 added to it.
You notice that Validon98 has gone missing, so you stay near the entrance of the tunnel to provide an indication of the group's location.

>"Oh, haha, nothing much, just wandering around and conversing with someone whose hand is currently on my shoulder. Speaking of which, uh... who're you?"
>Turn around and see who this mysterious person is! Doesn't this person know it's rude to put your hand on other people's shoulders in the middle of the night like that?
[4] "Oh [...] you?"
You turn around to see none other than the Hakurei shrine maiden.
"Where are they?"

>"Magic, eh? What kind of magic are we talking about?" Just continue to stay there. We're in no rush to recover.
[6] "All kinds of 'em. The great magicians of Gensokyo use these potions for just about every form o' magic. Flying, healing, and of course, spells!"
You don't notice it, but your back pain has subsided to the point that it's merely a minor sore.

>Well this is a familiar and similarly irritating experience, being alone in a forest.
>Try to find something of interest nearby, or a way out.
[5] BONUS: Your next roll gets 1 added to it.
There are several patches of glowing mushrooms, especially under the trees. Off to the east, there are dim flicking lights in the distance.

Just about perfect, then!
>"I'll have a single room, then."
[2] The clerk looks at a piece of paper for a while before frowning.
"Oh... it looks like all the single rooms are occupied. Would you like a double room instead?"

(As a note, I thought I was heading into the tunnel, are there bushes in the tunnel? I did say "sudden cave system" in my command.)

Pick mushrooms as a light source and head towards the lights in the distance

Aw, crud.
>"I'm afraid that I can't afford such a room, unless I can pay the difference by doing menial labors?"
[4] "Well, I guess there are things you can do. Why don't you fill the lamps outside with more oil? After that, can you tidy up the lobby?"

> Sprint in a random direction using the boost of adrenaline to see where it takes me.
[6] You run along the forest road and find a patch of land with a small house built atop it. Light coming out the window tells you that there's soemone living there. As you approach, a girl in a witch outfit opens the door.
"Who's there? Are you lost?"
She motions at you to come in with her.

>Slowly get up. My back is better for an unknown reason, but I'm going to decide to not argue. "Spell, huh...elemental I guess would be one type of spell, but would there be other kinds too? It appears I really don't know much about this world."
[3] You stand up, which makes the sore more apparent.
"Spell [...] world."
"Hold on, I think there's someone outside!"
Marisa grabs a octagonal object inscribed with trigrams along with some cards, and slowly opens the door. There seems to be someone outside.

>"Yes, Haru, I would like to see those notes, if you would let me." Observe the notes. Might as well go in order. She can sit next to me if she wants while I read them, especially if they're not well written so she can explain them.
(As a note, I thought I was heading into the tunnel, are there bushes in the tunnel? I did say "sudden cave system" in my command.)
>Once the notes are read (or at least some of them), "It is rather late...perhaps we should rest for a while? Pat, feel free to wake me up to switch with you for guard duty."
[4]
You read the notes as Haru sits behind you.

Code: [Select]
=====[ MINOR.TXT ]=====
Gensokyo is home to many minor youkai, mostly spirits of the deceased. They are usually harmless unless provoked, although it's still recommended that you stay away from them since a few will hunt you down.

Code: [Select]
=====[ MYSTIA.TXT ]=====
A night-sparrow that runs a fried lamprey stand in the Bamboo Forest of the Lost. Depending on her mood, she can either be very friendly or extremely scary. I've seen her perched atop trees singing in a strange voice that seem to attract nearby birds.

Code: [Select]
=====[ RUMIA.TXT ]=====
Often seen as a ball of darkness that absorbs surrounding light. This is similar to a black hole, except that gravity doesn't seem to be affected by it. She usually minds her own business, unless she's hungry. In that case, try to lose her as soon as possible. Rumors say that she's much more malicious than she is, although I haven't personally confirmed that.

Code: [Select]
=====[ UNKNOWN.TXT ]=====
Sometimes at night, strange sounds may seem to emanate from unknown places. These are likely from nearby youkai, possibly those who can hide themselves from humans. It is advised that you do not travel alone at night, since it is not known as to whether they will attack. A young girl by the name of Akyuu has told me that most of them are largely unpredictable in their behavior.

Code: [Select]
=====[ YUKARI.TXT ]=====
She pops in out of nowhere, and leaves in the same way. I've seen her attacking lost humans a few times, usually appearing in front of them as they run, as well as dropping them into creepy-looking voids that appear and disappear at her whim. It's said that she has control over any and all borders. This is a terrifying power, which she doesn't hesitate to use against those who defy her.

Code: [Select]
=====[ YUUKA.TXT ]=====
A flower youkai that often tortures humans, both physically and mentally. From what I know, she lives in a hidden mansion and can often be found alone in a sunflower field to the northeast of Gensokyo. Needless to say, you will want to avoid her at all costs. Usually, this just means that you should stay away from that general location.

You also take note of the pictures accompanying the documents.
"He just wanted to help others. Why... Why did... she..."
Tears form in her eyes once again.

Note from GM: For clarification, you are hiding in the bushes a good distance away from the forest road. The tunnels are formed as a result of the uneven growth of branches.

>"I'm sorry, what are you talking about?"
>Yeah, no, not going to reveal anything to her.
[3] The tip of a cold, sharp needle presses against your back, sending chills down your spine.
"I'll ask you one more time... Where. Are. They?"

>"Do you have anything to light it? Like matches or a fire-starter or something like that?
[2] "Erm... I don't think I have anything like that here. You're not planning on going outside and walking around tonight, are you?"

> Keep watch as intended. Not much to do right now but that, since you're oddly enough in the best shape.
> Actually, take a quick moment to check on your guns. You've used them once in an event that called for a lot of bullets, and there's a very good chance these guns don't run on infinite ammo.
[2](+1) You stay where you are and inspect the magazines in your guns. There's enough bullets left to fill the auto-loader to a forth of its capacity. After a while, you hear an unmatched sock's voice from behind.
"It is rather late...perhaps we should rest for a while? Pat, feel free to wake me up to switch with you for guard duty."

>Ugh. Fine, street performance. Gather impromptu crowd.
[6] As you set up a makeshift stage in the center of the village, people begin to gather in anticipation of your performance. It seems that the news has already spread, because the cheering and shouting intensifies as the crowd grows larger. You remember the times you and your friends went to see outdoors concerts at night in the city you came from, with flashing neon lights and gigantic crowds. This time, it's somewhat different. For starters, you're the one performing. It's also quite hard to overlook the fact that you're in a village that looks like something from centuries ago, and that youkai could fly in to tear your head off when you'd least expect it. Of course, none of that matters to you as you close your eyes and let the music blast the audience into euphoria. By the time you're done, it seems that several people threw coins at you.

Money +?1463 (total ?18998)

Pick mushrooms as a light source and head towards the lights in the distance
[1](+1) As soon as you pick the mushrooms off the ground, they start to dim. After a short while, they completely lose their fluorescent qualities.
