When she starts the lasers, get in front of the blue lasers, wait for her to fire the regular bullets at you, and just run in front of her. Rinse repeat defeat.

Poor design =/= difficult.
Plus when I play it I constantly think "clip me, I dare you" for the 60+ seconds it takes for her to finally die.

Oh right, I forgot Misayama Shrine Hunting Ritual.  That one's also horrible.

Maybe I just need to spend infinite amounts of time in spellcard practice until I can figure out how the heck to get through her BS.

And PCB Extra? I give up on that garbage.

It's funny, because Mokou's almost universally agreed to be the best designed extra boss. :V

Me, I spent the last hour trying to get through stage 4 lunatic. The closest I got was 19 seconds left on Dipper Creeping Close. Also, the concept of "you bomb or die on this attack, you don't get an extra life" really pisses me off by principle, because it means that failing one attack could easily cost you the whole run.

And have I mentioned I hate Nue's red UFO spell card? Because I REALLY hate it. One thing or another ALWAYS kills me. Her eighth spell card is pretty shit too, haven't passed that yet.

On a positive note, I think I got Mokou's 2nd spellcard down with Border Team. Sure it's just streaming (mostly), but it's 'effing gigantic streaming that took me awhile to get.

Still absolutely hate her first spell card with a passion.

Flaw of Forgiving Shrine is a mind warp and I ALWAYS get shot in the back.

the only people who really stand out as overrated are all the extra bosses except Mokou and maybe Yukari.

man you guys are really bumming me out, cause i absolutely adore Suwako and Koishi(all of the Komeiji family actually)

but i don't think they(or any Touhou character for that matter) are "SO HOT/MEGA MOE", if that helps at all :V

i'm actually scared to try to play UFO again, cause i don't want to stupidly die on Ichirin/CAPTAIN MURASA(but that would happen anyway)

Really Mokou so far is the only extra boss I beat.

And I agree that she's pretty well balenced for a extra boss. Only she can be made a little easier cause of spell practice.

For some reason, UFO is full of spellcards that I fail last at the last possible second, very rage inducing I say.

My 1cc Easy of MoF (lol first time playing) was foiled by Kanako because I didn't know what to expect. And here I thought I could at least clear the game with continues, but so far, she's impossible... Seriously, I hate how you can only start with two lives and the power-bomb relation just suck (I couldn't imagine how hard it'll be for me to clear SA later). Even though Kanako is, in my opinion, the easiest final boss that I've faced so far, I seem to screw up a lot in her attacks (the power-bomb relation doesn't help at all).

Forgot about Koishi.  Koishi is rated more or less where she should be overall, maybe a little less because everyone hates SA Extra and thus her by extension.  It doesn't help that ZUN made her dialogue rather terrible.

And this is coming from a Koishi fan, partly because she claims one of my favorite remixes.

@PriestYoshi:  The main reason people think Mokou is easy is because they have all the practice time in the world with Spell Practice.  Keep at it.

Considering your bombs are worthless after the Shinki card, I'd take that as a clear indication that you should bomb more.

Meh, almost got Koishi again.
Died in stage, on the first heart spellcard, Rorschach, surprisingly timed out Genetics without dying, lost a life on the survival(right at the end of the second wave, which is good) and the remaining 2 on Subterranean Rose.....I always throw away my first life in one of the first waves....

I hope this won't be like Flandre and QED all over....
Still, managed to cap everything atleast once except for the final 3.

UFO is being a bitch with me. I can't even consistently 1cc Normal. Dying to Byakuren's piss easy second noncard AND her piss easy second card on my MarisaB run doesn't help either.

I think I'll just do IN Lunatic and look at it afterwards. Except this will kill my deathbomb reflexes and I'll fare even worse.

Am i the only one here who thinks Byakuren's final spellcard sucks? Well, it shouldn't surprise me. The list of spellcards i don't like in UFO is rather long compared to other ZUN games.

Thwarted about 5 times because of Byakuren's Shinki card.

The entire life mechanics of UFO make me rage.
Somehow, you become obsessed with picking up red UFOs, completely ignoring any danmaku, throwing yourself straight into the enemy fire.

And when I'm about to pick up a 3rd red UFO, it turns blue. And you manage to clip something in the process.

I know, that is part of the strategy, I don't even have to tell you how many of those UFOs always turn to the rainbow one.
heck, if I know how to do it I will make it that the rainbows at least spit half a part of a bomb out for proper measure.

(oh well, at least I discovered you can stock bombs beyond the limit of how many stars there are shown, up to 10 I think)

There you have it. The reason i just stopped caring for SA Extra. My reaction was similar to: "This stage sucks. I don't care. I'm not doing this!"

The only thing actually difficult about it is the final phase... which i'll probably beat sooner or later. Personally the true rage inducing part of the Nue battle is her survival card. I always die twice to that one. (As in, the two times i have cleared the stage.)

Same as my first reaction, Sanae wiped the floor with me and it took me 10 more attempts to even reach Koishi.
Plus the fact that you need to gather the power at beginning like mad to get 2-3 at Sanae, then not mess up a single spellcard and get a decent run at Koishi....

Not to mention, I've timed out Genetics with only one bomb now(which was out of pure panic)

Worst final 2 spellcards in any Extra....Suwako atleast gave me some breathing space instead of constantly trying to run over me with a ring of roses.

Nue's survival also looks kind of ridiculous though....

EDIT: Another rage, almost 1cc'd UFO normal, died at last 1/5 on Byakuren's final.....Touhou doesn't like me today >.>
ZUN, save the low HP clusterfucks for Extra, don't annoy noobs on Normal with them....

Nue's seventh card.  What was ZUN drinking when he came up with this.  I was kicking Nue around with ReimuB - even capturing Green UFOs, which sorta takes some luck - until that came around.

Definitely in the running for worst spell card in the series, although from the replays I spoiled myself on the eighth card (Rainbow UFOs) doesn't look much better.

Rainbow UFO's is pretty straight forward actually, although it can be really tight.
