>Say yes or no as is correct.

>You think you've heard of them before, in one of those manga Sanae reads. Something about the evils of humanity. Greed, Lust, Wrath, Envy.... you forget the rest. And you inform Celes that you are only vaguely familiar with the idea as you produce your notebooks. You have the impression this could be the beginning of a story.
>"It's a concept that originated in Christian religion." Celes informs you. "Essentially, they are seven evils that humanity must fight against and overcome. But several centuries ago, there was a radical sect of the roman catholic church who decided to take more drastic measures than simply preaching to a scared group of humans. They came up with a method of gathering these Sins in one place, basically pulling them out of the world and into a physical form, so that they could be slain. In this case, into the body of a young woman named Tsumiko Kurada." She pauses. "Does that make sense?"

>"Kinda, sounds like a kind of shrine maiden stuff, really. I'm sorta wondering how western people got their hands on an eastern person to do it. But yeah, go on."

>"Tsumiko was an immigrant." Celes clarifies. "In fact, she was a member of the clergy in the village where the sect decided to launch their plan. At the time, the church was the only place that would take her in." The steward's face darkens, but then she recovers her calm. "But that is another story."
>"Their plan didn't go exactly as they had intended, but Tsumiko did end up as the receptacle of the Seven Sins, at least as much as could be gleaned from the village at the time. And some of the region beyond, I believe, it was hard for Tsumiko to determine that. Either way, the Sins within her became more than religious concepts; they became living spirits, incarnations of the sins. Wrath, Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Pride and Sloth. And Tsumiko became their keeper."
>"Unfortunately, there was an accident a couple of months ago, and six of the seven sins escaped. It was one of these spirits, Wrath, who was responsible for the creation of the Rageblooms."

>"So, she was staying here?"

>"Yes, she is one of us." Celes says with a nod. "After the.. event, for lack of a better word, that made her what she is, she was no longer welcome among the clergy. She was living the life of a vagabond, until the Countess took her in. She stuck with us through some rather dark days, and stayed with us when the Countess chose to move the Keep into Gensokyo."

>"Interesting. So, an accident happened, what kind of accident? Is she alright? Could it happen again?"

>"We have recovered. All of us were affected by the same force. You see, the Countess and we came to Gensokyo seeking peace. Unfortunately, Gensokyo back then was not the Gensokyo of now. We wound up conflicting with the other vampires active in that era, as well as other powerful youkai. who refused to leave us alone. After a while-"
>At this point, Celes pauses as the door behind you is pushed open, and a sharp voice announces, "You rang?"
>Celes frowns at the new arrival. "I wasn't expecting you, Sabine."
>"Sei's in the kitchen, so she drafted me into the job." The new arrival comes around the table, showing you a muscular woman with short black braided hair, messy bangs kept out of her eyes with a red headband emblazoned with a gold kanji. There are kanji too on the backs of her orange and black handwraps, and a challenging, arrogant smirk on her face. "What have we here, another tengu come looking for a scoop?"

>Proper bow for this situation.
>"Want something?"

>"Sabine." the cocky youkai answers, but she doesn't say anything else before Celes clears her throat, just a touch too loudly.
>"What have I told you about antagonizing our guests, Sabine."
>"I didn't say anything!" the muscular woman protests.
>"And you'll stay that way. Now go and bring a tray down for our guest and myself."
>Sabine mutters something under her breath, then nods at her boss, giving you another arrogant smirk before heading towards the door. "Sabine is our master of the guard." Celes informs you. "Among other things." she adds with a disapproving face. "Try not to let her get under your skin. Aya rather humiliated her during her visit, and I think she wants to take it out on another tengu."

>"Don't worry about it. And humiliated her how?"

>"Sabine is a kickboxer, a master at muay thai martial arts. She challenged Aya to hand-to-hand combat, and Aya defeated her. Handily, too. Sabine simply could not touch her. She had more skill than Aya, I believe, but Aya's speed was too much for her to overcome. I don't believe she landed a single solid blow on her."

>Can't let some folk get too complacent.
>"Anyways, where'd we leave off?"

>"Her agility is unparalleled."
>And knowing Aya, she would have found a way to record a few images of the fight. You'll have to ask her about that later when you track her down.
>"Yes, back to our tale." Celes says, folding her hands once more. "We spent many years caught up in the struggles between the various powers of Gensokyo at the time. In all honesty, we were starting to despair that we'd ever find the peace we were looking for. It was about that time that we were paid a visit by Yukari Yakumo. Her reputation back then was probably even more threatening than it is now, so you can understand that we thought we were nearly doomed. But she didn't come bearing doom, she came with an offer. She saw that our desire for peaceful coexistence was genuine, but she believed we'd simply come to Gensokyo too early. So she proposed that we sleep. She would seal us until Gensokyo changed, and became the world we were hoping it would be."
>The steward leans back in her seat. "I understand Yukari's even more notorious among your people than she is among the rest of the populace. I'm curious, Hatate-san. Would you have believed her? Taken her at her word?"

>"Who can say? Yukari can be pretty charming when she wants to be, you know? Maybe in your case back then, it sounded like a good deal?"
>Sounds pretty lousy right now, though...

>Celes nods in agreement. "Almost too good to be true. Especially considering who it was coming from. And truth to tell, if it had been her alone making the offer, we probably would have turned her down. Well, at least tried. But she was accompanied by Ran, who had an almost automatic rapport with Yuzuriha, you may have noticed some of that yourself earlier. Ran convinced Yuzuriha that Yukari was sincere, and she helped convinced the Countess that Yukari was worth believing. It was a risk, yes, but the Countess believed it was a risk worth taking."
>"It was Ran herself who sealed us, and we all hoped than when we awoke, the world would have changed for the better." For the first time, a faint smile touches the steward's serious face. "And it is. It worked."
>"But I'm afraid this is where the accident occured." Celes says, her smile fading. "The seal on us was set to expire after a certain time had passed, or undone by Ran herself. Unfortunately, a young woman, an amateur explorer, found the Keep a little more than two months ago. At the time, she wasn't fully aware of her special, unique ability, nor was she fully in control of it. She accidentally disrupted the seal, and the shock of this disruption was very damaging to all of us under the seal's effects. And during that moment of shock, six of the seven Sin Spirits broke free from Tsumiko, and escaped into Gensokyo. It was one of these Sins, the Spirit of Wrath, who was responsible for the creation of the Rageblooms. And for the Night of Rage, as a result."

>"Of the six that escaped, five have been recovered. Envy and Sloth were defeated by the Scarlet Devil. Gluttony was beaten by the protector of the Human village. Wrath was beaten and sealed by the Hakurei shrine maiden before it could do anymore harm, and Pride was restored to Tsumiko through the combined effort of the Scarlet Devil and Meiling Hong, with a little help from Lust."
>"Greed is the only one still at large. But with the other five back where they belong, within Tsumiko, locating him is a matter of time." She leans forward slightly. "Other people have had to clean up a mess we were responsible for, indirectly or no. Greed at least we will find on our own."

>"They are bound to Tsumiko's soul, in a way I won't claim to fully comprehend. They're a part of her, as much as she is a part of them. It is only under very unusual circumstances where they can shirk that bond. Prior to the events that led to six of them escaping, only twice before have any of them escaped her control, and both of those times were due to the power of an exceptionally strong, and exceptionally evil, vampire."

>"That, Hatate-san, is precisely why she came to reside here in the first place." Celes says with a sour note. "Because no one else would have her." After a short pause, she inclines her head slightly. "Well, at least that was the case before. Now that we've come to know the likes of Byakuren Hijiri and the Scarlet Devil, I can't say that with the same weight I once could." She smiles slightly again. "Gensokyo truly has changed."
