Got around to attempting to use my SakuyaB routes with ReimuB. I do want to improve this score at some point. I'll probably get around to studying more runs later. I've only learned how to time my borders for the first 2 stages. At some point, I should try to clear lunatic with the shot-types I haven't cleared it yet (which is basically the homing types and MarisaB).

Pretty much posting this since it sort of is a significant improvement from my previous score (After 900 million, I kind of consider anything above 10 million a pretty significant amount looking at my previous ReimuB scores). Actually tried to go for more border grazing in this run. For the most part, this run felt pretty solid until stage 6. I sort of screwed up stage 6 more than I wanted to in this run. I know things went down hill after I died on Yuyuko's second non-spell. I lost count on how many times I failed Repository of Hirokawa from trying to graze it (this particular one was because I lost track of the time and tried to rush in to end it). This run was pretty much a random attempt without doing too much warm-up (minus the restarts I did for the first 3 stages. I didn't really do any warm-up for Yuyuko).

Haven't played this game in a long time, so I was surprised to hit the 1.9bil mark. Mistakes were everywhere, but this run wasn't really to get anything special, but just to gauge where I am right now.

Everything from Prismrivers onward I didn't really have a route at all for.

I'm going to try improving in small increments. That's what you do when you score, right? I guess my next "goal" is 2bil.

After some time, I'm back to scoring in this game again. I had been planning to try scoring PCB Normal for awhile, and as of yesterday, I've finally gotten started, and I'm enjoying it so far. Did a few hours of stage practice to work on point item collection and unfocused movement. A few stage 1-3 restarts later, I got this run. Having never gotten the 1000 extend before, I managed to get over 1300 point items this time, which is still around 100 less than what the good players get, but it's good to see my practice pay off so far. Failed 2 Prismriver spells, but I did manage to NNN the other bosses at least. Still getting the hang of cherry control. Ended up collecting too many cherry items and got my border too early in the pre-midboss section of stage 5, so I had to bomb for the items there. On the bright side, by stage 6, I had learned from my mistake, so I was able to time my border correctly for the spam.

Well, I'm off to study some replays and practice the stages so I can go for a better score in the future. I didn't do very much grazing in this run so I'll be sure to work on that, particularly the Yuyuko grazes, since they're worth quite a bit. Not sure how far I'm going to take this yet. Maybe I'll go for 1.5bil, but it's too early for me to say at this point. I might also try Easy mode at some point. That Prismriver last spell graze looks like fun.

Alright, new pb. After practicing my new route for the past few days, it's nice to be able to start doing runs again. This is my first completed run with that route. All spells captured this time. Aside from some minor mistakes, stages 1-3 went mostly according to plan. Stage 4 on the other hand was a complete trainwreck from Lily White on. Forgot to manage my cherry during her nonspell, died to it, missed a bunch of potential cherrymax from the post-Lily spam, greyed and dropped a ton of items, and had to bomb twice. I didn't fail any Prismriver attacks this time, but I forgot to control my cherry at the end of the fight and mistimed the pre-midboss stage 5 border again. Despite the mistakes, I was still ahead of my previous pb entering stages 5 and 6, so I mostly played it safe. Skipped some of the grazes I was going to do, such as Swallowtail Butterfly, and also failed to poc a wave of Resurrection Butterfly due to nervousness. My route can definitely go higher, so I'm looking forward to doing some more runs in the future.

Well, I knew I was on pace for a PB but I didn't expect to improve by almost 100m. Most of stage 4 actually went decently this time, with a few exceptions. First, I forgot that there was one more wave of enemies in the opener, and missed a bunch of border graze I could have gotten from them. Second, I fucked up the post-Lily spam again. I was going to break the border I got during her nonspell for cherry+ but I waited too long and the border timed out; oops. On top of that, I took longer than usual to kill her and I ended up missing out on some of the post-Lily waves. Also got less border graze than I could have on the rest of it. Also, I mistimed the pre-midboss stage 5 border again. Stage 6 could have gone better. Had to bomb Yuyuko's second non again because apparently streaming is too hard for me. I did graze Swallowtail Butterfly this time but I still played it safe and got a much lower spell bonus than I could have. Also, died to Yuyuko's penultimate, and I wasn't even trying to milk it! At least I still captured Reflowering and cleared with max lives. Gotta go for at least 1.5b now.

Almost there. Lots of mistakes that cost me the 1.5. Stage 4 was an absolute mess once again, and while I actually got the pre-midboss border on stage 5 for once, I ended up mistiming the post-midboss border this time. Gotta remember to break my border on Youmu's midboss non the next time I enter it with only 44k cherry+. I was actually behind my previous PB entering stages 5 and 6, but I managed to recover with a better Yuyuko fight. No deaths, all spells captured, max resource finish, and I've finally started milking Swallowtail Butterfly all the way through, so I got 29.7m from it this time. Only things I'm not happy with were yet another dumb deathbomb to her second non and missing the second border on her penultimate.

So close! So many ways I could have easily made up that extra 3.5m. One more bomb at the clear bonus could have done it. 10 more items collected at max value could have done it. One more border bonus could have done it. But no, I just had to grey a few too many items, and use 4 unplanned bombs in 4 equally stupid places. This is the 4th 1.47b+ run I've gotten now. I'm not about to give up when I'm this close though.

Will be making a new post once I get 1.5b.

1.5b achieved! Some places could have gone better, but overall, I'm happy with how this run went. Going to take a break from this category and try easy mode scoring next, and probably also give the other Reimu shottype a go too. If I come back to this later, I'll definitely spend awhile in practice mode to improve my consistency and stage routes before doing any more runs.

The SakuyaB run was something I got after being sick for a week. Didn't get a chance to improve it.

The MarisaB run was sort of a test run to see how well I can play with MarisaB. I think this run had some decent potential, but I died too much to see how far I can get with it. Was sort of  a practice run for my ReimuB run. Not sure when I'll improve this since I don't really use MarisaB. Mostly including it since there aren't a lot of MarisaB runs for hard here. This sort of happened after a random conversation I had with someone.

The ReimuB run I was basically trying to see how well my lunatic routes apply in hard. This goes for all my runs, but I need to learn better routes for stage 4 since I'm mostly prioritizing safety for that stage. Mostly Lily White and onwards I need to figure out. General improvement is probably a matter of figuring out better timings for my borders and what I should do to time them properly. Other than that, I think my current routes with this run can get pretty close to 1.3 billion for hard. Failed to capture Resurrection Butterfly and messed up one border during the spell.

2bil getto daze~!

Finally reached my first "landmark". Of course, this is only the beginning. There's still much more work to go from here. :3

Stage 1 was pretty usual. Kinda did weird things on Letty's first spell, but managed to get into stage 2 with the correct cherry+.
Stage 2 was alright. I don't think I grazed optimally on the green streaming at the start but I made up for it with ring grazes on chen's midboss. Chen's fight went okay, although I got the border too early on her second non, losing some potential CherryMAX.
Stage 3 started okay. However, I mistimed the bomb on Alice's second midboss non, and accidentally popped a border on the post-midboss section. Not good. Alice's fight went fine.
Stage 4. Ah. This is where things take a turn for the worse. The stage 4 opening borders didn't really go well. I didn't graze enough during the borders and mistimed the finisher. I had to pop a border instantly at the next part so I could assure a border at the red stuff. Pre-Lily section went really well. Entered Lily with 45k cherry+ which is about where you want. I killed Lily a bit too late so I missed a few items. Post Lily section was lackluster performance, but I did get some decent graze. As for the next section, I got the border too early (the third wave), so I missed some items as a result. I did graze the streams a bit though, which did help.

The Prismriver fight is probably the biggest screw up in the run. Things first went wrong when I got popped a border on the first non, and failed to graze during it, losing a bunch of PIV. Then, I didn't manage my cherry+ well, so no proper border on the first spell, losing even more CherryMAX. I then had to bomb to get out of a bad situation due to me streaming it incorrectly, losing the spell bonus.

I didn't graze Lyrica's mid-fight non correctly, but I didn't pop the border, so I'm okay with that. I don't know when to bomb on her nonspell to assure a border on her solo spell, so I will have to look that up in a replay. I did manage to get two borders at the end of the fight though.

Stage 5, I mostly just try to get all the items. Luckily, I managed not to pop a border during this stage. I almost lost a bunch of items at the start because I almost didn't get the border to do so. Luckily, I made a risky stride and got a border, claiming the items. I did some minor grazing on Youmu's nons, but wasn't gutsy enough to move really high on the screen like the pros do. Oh, and let's not forget the abysmal mistake on youmu's second non. For some reason, I didn't POC to the left. I went the extra mile and went to the right side of the screen, resulting in a DEATH. orz

Stage 6. Got hit during the spam too early so I grayed some of the items. But I was able to mostly collect all of them at full value with a bomb. I still don't do any grazes on Yuyuko's fight outside of the streaming one. Speaking of which, I accidentally KILLED Yuyuko on that spell, losing all the spell bonus I could have gotten. It was a MIRACLE that I got 2bil in this run, considering that failure.

Resurrection butterfly went casually. I did the break you border every wave thing to collect items, and then time out the last border so you can get an extra one at the end.

Overall, this run, while it is my PB, had a TON of mistakes. That actually excites me, as it means I have a lot of room for improvement. Yuyuko's streaming spell alone could have given me at least 40mil more score, and if the Prismriver's fight went well (and I didn't die at Youmu's second non), and didn't gray the items, I could have definitely hit around 2.1bil in this run. If the stage 4 opening borders went well, and I learned Yuyuko's second and third spell grazes, I could have even hit 2.2bil.

I'm not sure what my end goal is yet. I won't make a numeric end goal because I don't want to make a promise and then not go through with it. In honesty, I would like to hit around 2.8bil in the future. But that's a very long term goal, and I'm not going to expect those kinda results anytime soon. But I'm okay with that. It's fun to slowly work your way up. I was stuck on the one billions for a while, so finally surpassing the 2bil mark, although it is a very modest goal, still makes me quite happy.

I'm not taking a break from this category at the moment. When I have time (because IRL is gonna get busy next week), I'm gonna do some practicing and try to hit 2.1bil. I'm going to make each "current" goal by 100mil. So once I hit 2.1bil, it'll be 2.2bil, and so on.

84.8mil improvement on my PB, so I decided to post this, despite the fact that it didn't hit 2.1bil.

2.1bil is ever so close now, definitely in reach. And 2.2bil isn't too far away either.

This run still made a bunch of mistakes. the stage 4 borders were an absolute failure, and I messed up the post lily section, but because the Prismriver fight went notably better than last time, I managed to get more out of this run.

Oh, and I grazed Yuyuko's second spell and didn't accidentally kill her fourth spell early. I still didn't take chances on her third spell (Had been failing it a lot today), but I did stay unfocused on the penultimate for the extra border.

I also messed up the border timing for post midboss stage 5, missing all that CherryMAX. This run notably gets more CherryMAX in the end than my previous PB, breaking the 1.1mil mark.

Well. Got 2.1bil. I'm getting better at the Yuyuko fight, though I still haven't fully optimized her third spell. Will get around to practicing that soon.

Notable biggest mistake was using an unfocused bomb instead of a focused bomb at the beginning of stage 4, which resulted in me failing the stage 4 borders. I got almost no PIV from that section, so that alone caused a massive drop in PIV.

I'm at the point where in a good run, it is very possible to get to stage 6 with 1mil CherryMAX if I can get stage 4 right. My route definitely allows 2.3bil potential, so I just have to keep working at it!

Aight! It's another 100mil checkpoint so time to blog.

Stage 1: Okay. The only notable difference in this stage is that I time my border later on Letty so I can graze three lasers instead of two, getting a little bit more CherryMAX than I used to
Stage 2: Messed up the cancel on Letty's last spell, so I got my border late on this stage, missing CherryMAX. I started implementing bombs and suicides on Chen, which is used to milk an extra border for more CherryMAX. I managed to do it successfully, except that I didn't optimally graze when I got the borders, so I missed out on some CherryMAX. Still, I didn't pop the borders, so I got the automatic 10k cherryMAX from both borders.
Stage 3: Stupidly died to Alice's midboss non. Aaaargh. But I ended off the stage with over 300mil, which is a first for me.
Stage 4: I messed up the end of the stage 4 borders, resulting in an improvised "just in case" route I use to ensure I get enough Cherry+ for the red fairies. Post Lily section went average. Fortunately, I got to Prismrivers with 800k cherryMAX, which is the goal. Speaking of the Prismrivers, the fight was lame. I missed tons of graze opportunities during my borders, so I missed out of valuable CherryMAX. But I didn't pop any borders, thank god.
Stage 5: Average stage. I got too much Cherry+ during the stage (which is probably attributed to the fact that I'm not used to capturing as many spells as I did in this run), so I got the border too early for midboss Youmu. ;_;
But I managed to time the borders right to graze the post-Youmu section as well as her first nonspell, which kinda made up for it. Had to bomb during HGS, but what else could be expected?
Stage 6: I used the "suicide" route at the spam section, though I broke my border too late so I didn't get enough cherry+ for midboss youmu's nonspells. Unfortunate, but it could have been worse...
Yuyuko: I played Yuyuko very safely. I didn't graze the third spell optimally (still a coward), and I did Hirokawa the safe way (by going back into the center rather than staying where I am).
I failed Yuyuko's penultimate! Grrrrr! That caused me to lose 10mil I would have gained from that one border I popped. But I didn't die. Thank god, I didn't die... that would have messed up RB and caused me not to hit the 2.2bil mark.

Resurrection Butterfly went smoothly. I didn't have to bomb for the PoC on the first wave, so that added to my clear bonus. I still pop a border every wave, for safety reasons. I won't start doing PoC tricks on this spell until at least 2.5bil.

This run was notable for being very "safe" but missing out on some potential CherryMAX, so if I had played more aggressively I could have gotten 2.3bil. Still, the improvements were there. I got into stage 6 with 1.3bil for the first time, which marks some progress.

New PB. It's been almost exactly a month since the last one. How coincidental. I played Yuyuko in practice mode about 2 hours before starting the full runs today, and I owe the fact that I didn't fail any of her spells (except Resurrection Butterfly, intentionally) due to it. I can now do the third spell, but I kinda panicked in this run and fled to the left side of the screen oddly enough.

It felt like this run could have been better, but it just wasn't because I wasn't really getting much CherryMAX from the Prismrivers onward. My borders were weirdly timed at points and I didn't get much graze during them. (Though the Prismriver fight was okay, I didn't risk going for the border for the midboss spell, so I lost a lot of CherryMAX from that alone)

Stage 5 was really, really suboptimal. I didn't time the border right for the midboss well. At least I got the post-midboss border right. I got a LATE BORDER on Youmu's first non, preventing me from optimizing it.

And then I stupidly died on the penultimate spell of Youmu. Arrrghhhh! Arrrgh! That things like impossible to fail! I couldn't do the stage 6 suicide strat as a result.

At least the spam section went okay. I got all the items (I think). I played weirdly on Yuyuko. I got her second spell down fine, but I kinda did weird things on her third and fourth spells.

I managed to capture her penultimate and time both borders right! (Really happy about that!). I could have gone for the last spell cap, but I honestly didn't want to stain this run anymore than I did by potentially dying to it. (If I had died, I would have probably gotten down to 2.2bil again and would have been pretty frustrated, so I just decided to play it safe and suboptimally.)

I'm going to need to start getting into a "Go big or go home!"  attitude once I get better. PCB is scary, especially for scoring.

In conclusion, I'm 157mil away from being able to take my first break from this game.

Kind of bothered with one death I had in this run, but I'm satisfied with the results for now. Sort of learned how to trigger a border at the start of the stage, but I'm not exactly too consistent at it. Figured out that it doesn't conflict too much with my current routes. I think I intentionally broke the border at the start of this run just to keep my route stable, but I kind of figured out that isn't too necessary (though a bit more risky if I decide not to break it). Could have done better on Yukari, though.

I'm back!

2.4bil get! Sadly still 25mil away from 2nd place.

Soooo this run had a very good early game. I was really pleased with how stage 1 and 2 went. I managed to get 470k CherryMAX going into Chen and 500K CherryMAX into stage 3. Something I've never done before! I even managed to have a nice 570k CherryMAX going into Alice. However, I didn't milk her second spell enough so I had to skip a border on her, resulting in lost points.

I messed up stage 4 borders in this run, but mostly everything else in stage 4 was fine until the Prismrivers. The Prismrivers were actually quite clean until I got trapped in the corner on the last spell, which resulted in a deathbomb. The bomb actually killed the spell off so I didn't get much Cherry+ from it. That caused me to fail to get a border in the stage 5 opening section so I missed a lot of items. I also died randomly on Youmu's second non, which annoyed me. Somehow, I failed to get the border from the cancel on Youmu's last spell so I had to improvise.

Yuyuko was NMNB luckily. However I played like a coward and finished off the second spell early, losing 4mil. I also didn't milk her third spell properly, and missed 20mil from it. I then didn't milk her fourth spell fully, missing like 10mil from it. I did do the double border method for the penultimate. And I captured Resurrection Butterfly with PoC's. I missed one wave of the PoC though so I lost some items on it, but I was convinced that I needed a Resurrection Butterfly capture to get the 2.4bil (I actually didn't, but I didn't know that at the time).

Hopefully, I'll get 2.5bil soon~
