Now that you have other clans wanting to join with you and become a tribe, you must choose a king. The king must be able to lead and protect the people of the tribe; he or she must be strong and generous. Once a candidate is chosen, that candidate must design and complete a sacred ritual unique to your tribe. All future kings will have to undergo these rites as well.

1. Nominate a member of your clan. (Who?)
2. Support a candidate from the clan most obligated to you.
3. Support a candidate from the strongest fighting clan.
4. Support the candidate who is most generous to you.
5. Wait, then throw support to whoever seems poised to win.

Ring advice is all pretty dull here. Note that while we do need a king/queen from our own clan eventually, there's no need to throw our hat in the ring straight away - the game's pretty good about killing ones from other clans off or otherwise forcing them to step down before too many years have passed.

No matter who we support, we have to choose who speaks for our candidate: Our lawspeaker, the candidate themself (if one of ours), our best poet (in our case I'm pretty sure they are also our lawspeaker, though I assume the checks for being awesome here are the combined ones for poetry of course), our war leader, our best farmer, or... our trickster. :V

Not really. Ferena and Desrada are on the ring partly for the stat growth but mostly because everyone else was boring, and that's about all the grooming we've been doing. :V

The only way I believe you can get a trickster king is if he's your second best at Leadership and is on the ring, and if your Chief is king, and if said chief is injured. Your trickster basically acts as King and Chief. I could be incorrect, though.

I'd actually be tempted to lean Desrada for queen, but I don't think our ancestors would take too kindly to a Humakti leading. So yeah, Ferena sounds good.

Nah, the King/Queen position doesn't care so much about worshipper, I don't believe. We're an Elmali clan regardless, so neither Ferena nor Desrada would make our ancestors happy if this were a thing. Fortunately I don't think it is!

We already established that this is not a possibility because tricksters can't be kings and that the only way for one to be elevated to that position is through a convulted plot that will still require us to choose someone else for now

4. Sure, why not? Let's make this interesting and not go for the monarchy right away. We can train a queen in the meantime, they're both young and we have plenty of resources for questing.

I'd prefer to see Desrada become queen because fuck undead.

Let Iskalli do the talking, if he can make two successful lawsuits against ghosts I'm sure he'll have no problems getting a king though the primaries.

Since this is a big decision I was going to ask for a list of character stats and choose from there. Asking for bribes seems like we'll end up with someone who's crap and I think Orlgard will want to stampede over everything that's not us. The obvious answer seems to be Iskalli, but it doesn't allow for a lot of experimentation if he might wind up in trouble before long.

We've done enough bribing people for this tribe. Time to accept some bribes for a change.

No one actually said which role they want speaking - Iskalli's both our lawspeaker and our best poet (because poetry = custom + leadership). I have him wax lyrical.

The time has come for Orlkarth, the first king of the Mosdorl tribe, to undergo the rites of kingship. Because this is a new tribe, the magicians and priests have had some latitude in designing the rites. Future kings will have to follow them precisely. If he fails to complete these rites, he loses all claim to the throne. It is also possible that the candidate will be harmed by enemies attracted by the magic of the rite, or devoured by angry spirits if he proves unworthy.

1. Make sure the tribal regalia is good enough. (But we don't have any treasure! I'm not sure if we'll still have a chance to ask the other tribes to add treasures.)
2. Lend your magic to aid Orlkarth in his rites.
3. Secretly use your magic to hinder the candidate.
4. Enjoy this historic occasion.
5. Sacrifice to the gods in aid of the candidate.

Advice is all pretty blah blah blah not useful again. It's not even funny aside from Mosdorl picking 3. :V

Oh hey it cost the exact amount of magic I'd been going to spend if it had let us choose (2 points). Sweet! (Also we have a king!)

And finally we get to do something else now. :V We have a bunch of goods and it's Dark right now so I'm gonna build the rest of the fortifications. Or at least start on it.

The Blue Spruces have challenged all of the neighboring clans to a cooking contest. They claim that they make the best food in all of Dragon Pass, and wish to prove it.

1. Offer to judge food cooked by others.
2. Treat the event as a festival for your peoples' enjoyment.
3. Try to win the contest.
4. Use magic to help win the contest.

Although it seems merely jolly, this event could help us improve relations with other clans. (1, 2)

The use of our clan magic for a mere cooking contest is frivolous and wasteful. (1)

Our magic is strong; we can rely on Ernalda's blessing in the preparation of this feast. (4)

The carls should be urged to celebrate. (2)

I volunteer for an eating contest! (1, 2)

I suppose cooking is something you could be proud of.
