All things considered - especially if the next week plus of updates could be exclusively devoted to it - I think the only ones we shouldn't chat up are the Elkenvali and Zethnorings.

Can we start with the Narri and work our way down the alliance pole? 2, 3, 6, 1, 5, 8

Is it even possible to convince a clan to join up even if they've hated our guts for every last moment of game time?

Probably not. :V Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe if you really ridiculously shower them with gifts.

The selections will expand to include neighbors of anyone we do successfully recruit, but sometimes even if you have got borders on when looking at the map the game can be weird about who actually constitutes a neighbor so if anyone new pops into the list I'll let y'all know.

Interesting. We should probably hit up the Greenwings, because that might let us grab our other ally, the Blue Spruce who are a bit south of them. (But we might need the Tanahart too since the border is kind of dubious.)

Oh also while my actual screencaps are waaaaay out of date for it, the which-clan-is-known-for-what parts in the clan blurbs in the second post are 100% fixed after the initial game-start shuffle of names/locations/traits, if that helps anyone looking to aim outwards. (Plus it includes who's in Colymar; I forget if we can even attempt to steal any of them away but if so it's really hard and the nearest two of 'em don't like us anyway.)

Yep, it takes a month between picking a clan and the actual negotiations, so tribe-making does take a bit. Even if I didn't intend to leave plenty of time for y'all to talk about this stuff along the way. :3


... oops, that one feud's in between us and that gift mission. Well he's a sorta expendable dude in the first place, plus he's okaaaaaaay at Combat... ah well, at least we weren't bringing much. Plus the Taralings are part of the Colymar anyway, I mostly just wanted to keep relations from souring too far moreso than try to get them on our side.

Not outright but while there's an off chance we'll get to join another tribe, it'd mostly be game over because we'd be stuck twiddling our thumbs until endgame happens for someone else instead.

The Narri, famed for their skilled cooks, demand the following if they are to join your new tribe. They want the tribe to support exploration in search of legendary lost foods of Dragon Pass. They want each clan to spend time growing their rare and delicate herbs and spices. Further, the Narri wants to send fewer warriors to tribal wars than the other clans do.

1. Abandon negotiations.
2. Allow them to contribute less to tribal warfare than other clans.*
3. Require the Narri to do the cooking for tribal feasts.**
4. Require each clan to spend time growing their herbs and spices.***
5. Support exploration.
6. Give gifts.


*Follow-up: how many warriors (1-9) should we have them send for every 10 from other clans?
**Follow-up: do we want them to contribute more than their share of ingredients, and if so, how many cows worth of food they should supply for every 10 from other clans: 13, 15, 20 or 30?
***Follow-up: a token amount, enough for the clans' own use, or enough to trade? Anything more than token takes up space that would otherwise be cropland.

Basically we keep doing things until either they agree or negotiations fall apart! We can also choose to abandon negotiations ourselves at any point.

If they contribute less to tribal warfare, they must contribute more in some other area. (2, 3)
In a tribe, any ally is a good ally. (3, 4, 5)
Although it seems like a demand, if we phrase it correctly, they will see the requirement to cook our feasts as a privilege. (3)
Make them send fifteen cows to each feast for every ten the rest of us send. (3)
This pastry is delicious! We must have this clan among us! (3)

We can let them send fewer warriors than the rest of us, but not so few that the other clans balk. (2)

Fortunately they're the first ones we've asked, so we probably won't catch shit for letting them send less dudes. The other requests seem trivial.

I would suggest, in this order:
5. We're going to keep exploring anyway, I presume.
4, just the token amount.
3, 15 cows.
2, maybe 7 dudes per 10? Dunno what they think is reasonable.
6, hopefully they will cave before we have to cough up anything material.

I think I can go along with what's already been posted. Maaaaaybe we can get a little more out of them in terms of 3 but that's just because they seem interested in cooking and since that's their strength it might be best to capitalize on it. I really don't know how these things work right now.

or I guess Plan B: Reload my save from Sacred Time because seriously that was the only thing we've done so far this year we lose nothing. No it's not one I want to make a habit of, but I only had some very vague recollection of gift-giving not being very good last for some reason, I guess that was why. :V

2. Pour out the remaining crazy wine.
3. Sacrifice to gods for protection from bad spirits.
4. Send for shamans to exorcise bad spirits.
5. Use trickster magic to send the spirits elsewhere.
