Bug Tracker

It's been a while since I updated the thread here, so I thought it would be a good idea to keep this forum up to date on what's going on with our project. Story of a Lost Sky is a free strategy RPG (Fire Emblem, FF Tactics), that takes place in the Touhou world. We have been working on this project for 5 years now. A build is available for Windows, but Mac and Linux users can play it through the source version.

What's new in v0.9?

We spent the last months undergoing a drastic overhaul of the UI, so that most every menu in the game has received a new look. We also have a completely overhauled world map, which can be seen in the screenshots below. We also modified a few of the mechanics to eliminated unneeded complexity: spell relationships are more clear as to how they work, and units now have an assigned type of spell that they are good at. Feedback and suggestions for improvement are most welcome. The story is complete through chapter 3, which concludes at the top of Youkai Mountain.

0.9.1 is an update on the 0.9.0 version: it fixes a number of bugs and adds a few new art and music assets that were recently received.

That's pretty cool, I thought progress on this has stopped. It was a pretty fun when I was trying it out.

We're definitely still very much an active project. The last year has been spent completely redoing the UI. We're finally pushing into Chapter 4, which takes place in the bamboo forest. The main mechanic is going to be a fog layer has enveloped the region and you have to use lanterns and other light sources to gain an advantage over the enemy that has an advantage in the fog.

By the way, we really need help on map art for the battle maps. If you want to join us, that would be immensely appreciated.

Heh, my apologies, I don't know how to do art and I am too busy to actually join any projects. Work takes a lot off my availability time.

I guess I intended that to be a general call for help on the map sprites, not to you specifically.

If you have a chance to play the current build, we would really also appreciate any feedback on it.

Ah, okay, I do hope people will look into this. This is a fun game.
I will be playing, if somewhat slowly. I recently got to the mission where you are supposed to run away.

I've been working on more Chapter 4 stuff. Certain enemies will be equipped with a fog veil protective trait. They can't be attacked in the fog, so you will have to force the fights to areas that are illuminated. Alternatively, since we implemented FV as a status effect, Chen's Cat's Curse skill can be used to neutralize it for one turn.

Hey, after playing your game I was impressed, but I do feel I could help balance stats / gameplay as well as provide some neat ideas when it comes closer to a finished project. I can also design maps well.

Thanks! Were there any places in the game that you felt were off balance? Would appreciate the feedback.

I finished a rough draft of Chapter 4, Stage 1 today. We're finally moving into the Bamboo Forest region. The stage opens with Marisa and Aya scouting out the enemies in the Bamboo Forest and is a gentle introduction to the fog mechanic that'll be central to the Chapter 4 mission.
