Be surprised. I played around with an idea of a reverse mafia before, where the mafia wins if they're eliminated. Not that I remember much about it right now. I think either the mafia had no NKs or they couldn't commit suicide.

I hosted that once :)

I think it is innately town-sided because as the Mafia is eliminated people have interactions to townread people on and the Mafia has less of a voting block. Sure, that applies normal Mafia too, but there scum just has to lynch anybody else instead of getting lynched themselves.

That sounds innately stupid, the whole game would be about trying to get yourself killed while not trying TOO HARD to get yourself killed. Since the Town has to die as well to win (someone has to get lynched, after all), every player has the goal of "get lynched" and thus the game becomes "convince the town you're town so that they'll kill you."
How the hell do you even play that? Does it play out like Nuclear Potato Mafia where the gun gets passed around?

Nah, all you really have to do is townhunt instead of scumhunt. I think it'd play out like normal mafia but with different priorities with that in mind.

Wait, how does that even end? You'd go into LyLo when next day half the people left would be mafia (They still control half the votes and take control, yo) and Town is -also- trying to kill themselves, here. I guess you'd just futz the logic and make it so when the numbers equalize/tip then Town wins...

I think trying to play this would be awkward when everyone's goal is to get lynched, though :/ When I think harder though, maybe it wouldn't be that bad, just very -odd-. Instead of lynching the scumreads you'd lynch the townreads, and scumtell sorts of things would be... kinda different.

But isn't it easier to lie about townreads...? Nevermind. I'll only worry about this if we actually play a game of it.

Scumhunting is hard when everyone is suicidal. At least in normal Mafia everyone has the idea of "no kill him instead" and the scum will inevitably sound scummier trying to do this then the town, because :interactions:

Besides, the game boils down to "shoot at random because chances are you'll hit town anyway' for the best results.

EDIT: Wat happens wen scum outnumber/equal the town? Does Town win?

sounds boring. I would make the nightkill graveyard-based, at least, because if you're going to make a game where everyone wants to die, you might as well also make it Graveyard Whining: The Game

couldn't kill self

basically the lynch and nightkill were gunning for obvtown players to force scummier players to be lynched, but iirc scum didn't do that well just due to the nature of the game. I guess you could run it as scum wins when there's only one of them alive or something?

iirc town strat was to lynch people who were townie but not that townie? actually no wait, one player volunteered to stay into lylo as obvtown i think; that way town wouldnt be boned when all the obvtowns got lynched and you'd be left with a bunch of town lurkers and such

If you removed the nightkill, scum would have little influence over town and you'd have to cut the number of players in the setup significantly so that it wouldn't drag on.

Even if the nightkill isn't the most useful thing in that kind of setup, you can use it for -something-. People will have their suspicions and if they're on the right track you can kill them I guess? Plus there could still be PRs. God knows MotK setups tend to have a boatload of PRs at least half the time >_>

So yeah, it's not steadily digging their own grave, really, because the numbers would be balanced to consider scum having the NKs. Removing them just means cutting several townies from the setup instead, and is probably overall a scum nerf in game that's already arguably town-sided.

cut by conq, huh, that's interesting

NNR is next on the list. Mine (which we've been discussing) is sixth or seventh after that depending on your indexing. Plus there are all those on the postponed list. How does that work anyways?

I also think it's town-sided- in regular mafia, bad town play leads to lynches that are more likely to be harmful for the town than beneficial, because there are more town than scum. In this type of game, where the majority wants to get lynched, town is rewarded by bad play because a randomlynch is more likely than not to be successful.

I think they can cut in at any time, although imo they oughta be put at least one or two games down the queue when they announce they're ready. Maybe make an exception if they can only mod during X dates or somesuch

there's been some discussion about what to do with the on-hold queue. Some people want to just be rid of it or force people to go back to the bottom if they aren't ready when the time comes around.

My game is very much ready to go, and Raikaria's game is nearly over, so I think it's a bit too late for someone to want to cut in front of me.

26/1 UPDATE: Looks like Raikaria's game is ending tonight, so expect my signups post in the morning.

Before you all pre /in, please note the game will be anonymous, and sign-up details will be included in the signups post.

IN THE YEAR 2XXX
WAR WAS BEGINNING

A clash of the titans, from which only one would rule. That man was Lord Havelock Vetinari.
But Havelock did not want rule. No, he wanted destruction. In his last and most ultimate evil scheme, he initiated The Cleansing. All but the faintest of traces of life on the surface was eliminated.

Hundreds of years after The Cleansing, life on Earth as we know it is no more. The sole surviving settlement of humans is now contained within The Underground. Their last stronghold: The City. The City does not need a name, for it's the only one left on Earth.
And with all heroes gone, The City is rife with scum and villainy.
In fact, you are one of those villains. One vying for the top of the town, one of the last of the great, of the lines of survivors of great supervillains of old. How will you decide the fate of mankind? Will you defend it? Rule it with an iron fist? Or perhaps, you will crush the last bastion of humanity, and with it, end it all.

That's not for me to decide, of course. Or is it? What's important is that you fight for what's yours, in one last brawl to the finish. This, gentlemen, is the last clash of villains.

Villains Anonymafia 2

Rules:
-I am the Finalest Final Boss.. PX is my Co-mod. Decisions by either one should be trusted and assumed to be be made in the interests of keeping the game fun.
-Don't discuss the game outside the thread to anyone but the game mod, or in a mod-sanctioned quicktopic. Personal quicktopics are an exception (and are encouraged), provided only the game mods have access.
-Posting will be disallowed whenever a mod posts something like "SHUT UP", typically before a flip. Posting is not allowed during the Night Phase. I won't delete posts, but don't abuse this fact.
-If you die, you can't post, period.
-Don't edit posts, if I somehow can't disable the ability to do so.
-Try to post actual, useful content at least once, preferably twice, every 24 hours. If you can't for some reason, tell me in advance. Otherwise I'll prod you with the force of ten thousand burning suns.
-Quoting Mod PMs is a kickable offense. Don't quote the mod from outside discussion without permission.
-Have fun and keep the thread fun for fellow players.
-Please include in your role PM "Good Guys Always Finish Last" in your Signup PM to ensure you read the rules.
-Failure to comply with rules might result in a modkill. If your alignment benefits from this, they'll be punished too. Don't make me do this, it will ruin the game.
-The forum this game is hosted on is not a safe haven from shrinemaiden.org forum rules, and things that modkills can't solve will be reported to the shrinemaiden.org forum staff.

Setup notes:
-This is an anonymous game. This game will be hosted offsite with players using alternate identities. Signup info below.
-72 hour days, 24 hour nights.
-The setup may have experimental roles. It is balanced to the best of my ability with outside input.
-You can only use one ability (ie Cop, Doc) per night, including the Scum Nightkill. Passive abilities (like Bulletproof) are always active.
-All role flips will include death flavor, a player's anonymous username, role name, alignment, and role summary (Eg Bowser died, he was Dying Dark Wizard, Villainous Self-Reviver), and a role PM with all sensitive information removed (QT links, buddy info, etc)
--In Role PMs, all important info is in bold for convenience. Everything else is flavor.
-The following things are considered ridiculous and not in this game: Jesters, RNG-based Roles, Hidden Players and Role Info, Non-Sane Cops, Alignment-Switching Roles, Alt Wincon roles, Captain Planet, and Roleflip-altering roles.
-LYLO and variants (such as MYLO) will be announced.
-Players are informed if they are roleblocked or redirected, but only if they attempt to use an ability that can be blocked/redirected.
-Town may no lynch once. A second no lynch results in the city exploding with no survivors.
-Scum may idle the Nightkill once. A second Idle will result in the kill being RNG'd.
-With no heroes left, even the scum roles will look villainous. Flavor will not save the town, and neither may role claims.
-Play to your wincon. "Draw" is equivalent to "Everyone Loses".

Signups:
-15 player game.
-Don't sign up in the thread. PM me with the following details:

**You think you're smart, don't you? "Antagonists" like 'Yourself' or 'Gravity' or 'Scum Goon' might get a chuckle but will also be rejected.
