Sorry for bump. But it's a strange idea.

The player character "forgot" to bring their shots with them, so they had to use their boss cards.

You select a character, and a kind of spell card set, similar to SWR and Hisotensoku.

Balanced Type: Spread non-spells, Homing Spellcards
Homing Type: Streaming Non-spells, Homing Spellcards

Marisa:
Focused Type: Non-spells shot at enemy in a focused manner, Streaming+Scatter Spellcards
Scatter Type: Dense, scattered non-spell, Fast and Dense Scatter Spellcards

Sakuya:
Time-Stopping Type: Nonspells and Spellcards have Time Stopping, with Sakuya moving din the meanwhile.
Bullet Change Type: Nonspells change directions and speeds randomly, Spellcards have changing bullets when it hits all sides of the screen.
All of this, with the PoFV AI. Easy is super-easy AI, Normal is Easy AI, Hard is Normal AI, etc., until EXTRA has Lunatic AI.

My guess is that whatever happens will be a direct result of DDC's story, since that seems to be the common thread.
MoF causes Kanako to make Utsuho start SA, which frees the ship for UFO then Byakuren builds the temple and resurrects the Taoists for TD, which provokes the youkai who rise up in DDC.

So it seems like 15's incident will be a result of the mallet's power....Could it be fairy related?

I doubt the next game will have anything to do with the mallet, but if it does, I'm betting on more tsukumogami.

I don't think the Taoists have anything to do with DDC. DDC's plot was initiated entirely by Seija and Shinmyoumaru.

Yeah, the arc started by MoF ended with HM. DDC is a separate story.

I kind of hope DDC is like EoSD in terms of future games. The first three games were somewhat connected, but they worked better as individual stories than an arc. I like that better than the multi-game storyline of MoF-HM.

It would be nice to see a update on a few already existing characters and get some new info on them if possible, but that might just be left for the written part or side game (IaMP, SWR, HM) side of Touhou. I'm not sure if I want to see old characters back (but not TD's way for stage 1....) or if I'd just prefer new ones all the time. DDC would have had to have done something, if all weaker youkai were made stronger by the mallet then I doubt Shinmyoumaru was alone just affected by the side effect. But I have yet to fully play DDC beside from the demo so all my info is based on what I've read.

I have the feeling the original poster is on to something.  I find the concept of a more in depth development of the weapons or as it was all referred to in DDC as "Tools" coming in to play.  I'm also intrigued by the thought of what if the corruption level of said "Tools" comes so great they must find a new way to draw power from their weapons.

but a title for it is still tricky as I can't think of a title for it but Zun is always clever and full of surprises.

The next touhou involves stars or a space theme.  Touhou characters in space or something.
