not necessarily. remember that in the TD trial, the amount of life pieces you needed for each extend stayed the same, but raises in the full game. I imagine it being the same with DDC. I wouldn't call out on the lives you can get just yet. marisaB needs some nerfing regarding that, though.

In the TD trial, the first 3 extends were at 10-15-20. The requirement was actually reduced to 8-10-12 in the full game.

On the topic of DDC trial scoring, I'd compare my experience of it so far to be more like LLS scoring. Planned bombs in the stage portions (and a few nonspells, depending on how effective your shot type's bomb is at canceling bullets), but you still need to capture the spells. Resource management overall. I wonder how high lives will be worth in the stage 6 clear bonus? I hope they're worth more than UFO/TD.

Edit: I just saw ElD's run. Yes, MarisaB's bomb is broken. Even more so than TD since it has the potential for a net gain in resources (as opposed to working with a static number of life/bomb parts). It's an interesting concept, but it doesn't work in combination with the game's life/bomb part system.

What I did was enter the custom menu and set the options to Fast instead of Automatic. That'll be the bottommost option of the four.

Funny how an SA Lunatic ReimuA scoring challenge can't bring me back, but a new game can. Thoughts so far? These first stages seem significantly tougher than the first three in TD. I am perfectly okay with this - haven't had this much fun with a shooting game in almost a year. Might inhibit me from getting good at Kagerou without Stage Practice though. And it seems ZUN is really taking to suicide bullets. Not that that's a bad thing, of course. I still need more time to get used to the music and characters, and I have to look into the bomb/life piece system, because I have no idea what triggers it.

If the wiki gameplay page is correct (or perhaps I should say, if Arcorann is correct, given the page history): Auto-collecting 20-59 items at once gives you a bomb part, while auto-collecting at least 60 items (a 2.0 multiplier) gives you a life part. In addition, bosses drop a bomb part after every phase you don't die or bomb on. Every 5th bomb part (from either method) is replaced by a life part.

Oh, and SakuyaA's bomb is like SA MarisaC's bomb, giving you 3 bomb parts back if you don't break the border. Those 3 bomb parts don't count towards the life part.

I wish there was stage practice too.

It's a LNB by NS, guy who did cool things like LNBNV of UFO and LNMNBNT of Ten Desires. He dies on only one spell and it's a pretty badass run in general. Just thought I'd share it with you all.

Seriously, SakuyaA violates that midboss card. It kills it in like half the time compared to ReimuB and it deals sick damage to everything else. Borderline broken.
This needs to be fixed.
