Oh God you people are insane and that's why I love this place so very much. I get what Freeze means with the drawing not being done yet (as far as I can see, the rifle and wings have no shade and the left thumb is unnaturally short), but it still looks plain gorgeous. Plus, working on it for 14 hours straight is damn worthy of praise. The lineart and shading on Vento's Alice are also incredible, 'nuff said.

Everyone else: not voting for Merp because of last week, but it's just as great as I expected. KazeSenshi hit the nail on the head putting Okuu on flammenwerfing duty, and the minefield cape was a really nice touch. Pwn'd Crow, I considered voting over Vento because I already knew we'd get plenty of World War uniforms and I wanted to see some variety, plus I really like the Merp-ish coloring. Sixten made me laugh waaaay harder than I dare admit, and the background is amazing. Pasu, good as always, and Medi with a gas mask is thematically appropriate, but I think she looks way too similar to her original incarnation aside from that. Necrotastic, as I said before, did a great job on the shading and the pose, and I hope to see more of you in the future; the more the merrier! For Desu_Cake, I really like the uniform, but I think you should work a bit on the lineart to prevent using so many straight lines. Piranha's Shou is actually pretty darn good, but her right eye seems misaligned, and there's something off about her right knee, I'd say. Vyrien drawing a Satori on a Reich uniform should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody. If anything, I'd like to be yet another guy to point out that her limbs are a bit too long, like something straight out of a CLAMP animation, with a side of yandere. Finally, EP improved his earlier draft pretty significantly: I literally can't find anything I don't like about her face, it's pretty damn well done, and the right hand seems to be accurate enough. I'd just like to see you work harder on the rest of the body for next week's entry!

+2 Vento - It was hard for me to decide between Vento and Vyrien, but I settled on Vento because the outfit looked grander than the other entries,
+1 Vyrien - THOSE LEGS be too long. Otherwise, the Reich outfit was well done.


In no particular order:
Desu_Cake - I like the design of the oufit (French?), but there's something off about Satori's head and arms. The shoulder guards could have been bigger, though.
Piranha - You're getting there (it reminds me of the Afrika Korps; don't know why), but Shou looks a bit too plain. I'm confusing the sleeves for bare skin, so I think the shoulders should be less round (probably more baggy too).
Necrotastic - Why do I think this is something I'd actually see in Gensokyo? :V Sanae's legs seem off, or the boots are making them seem too small. Her facial expression is too tame(?) - I can't tell if she's giving the angry look or the focused face.
Freeze-Ex - I would have put you first/second, but Vento and Vyrien matched the theme more, assuming "imperial" means "World War I/II." Flandre reminds me of an SC2 Ghost, which makes sense, I guess (nukes and headshots and all).
Merp - Imperial War Council!
Pasu - Same as kinoko and KrackoCloud. It has a lot of potential, but it just needs more gear.
Sixten - It fits right into Star Wars, all right. I couldn't quite recognize Kanako, though; for a moment, I thought it was Shizuha.

Pwn'd Crow: While there are pics that certainly look awesomer, it's unique, still a military outfit, and also really fit the 和風 Japanese feel of Yuyuko's character. Maybe her headgear is a bit weird though.
Necrotastic: For some reason, I wouldn't place it in group 2 below. That just really looks good on her.

Honorable Mention
Bound: A very unique take on Ichirin, and I really like the Unzan as a lamp genie idea. I would totally have voted for this, but the theme is military outfits, and it doesn't really seem like a military outfit, even if it is original. Still, I really like it. Ichirin surprisingly really matches that Arabian attire.
Freeze-Ex: You go all out as usual, good job! Amazing detail, and 14 hours is just crazy. I watched some of your stream but I had homework, so I couldn't watch it to the end. It was either this one or Necrotastic's.


The rest of the entries fell into either of 2 categories for me:

Group 1: Not too different from normal attire
KazeSenshi: I like that nuclear flamethrower thing though. (Also her hat seems to be floating?)
Pasu: Volatile-liquid-poison-ignition-and-launching device? Poison gas mask was a nice touch.

Group 2: Not too inspired
Merp, Desu_Cake, Piranha, Vyrien: I know the theme is military uniforms, but I think simply making them wear uniforms is nothing more than mere dress up and not any better than photoshopping a 2hu head on any existing military uniform pic. I'd say Merp's has the most atmosphere, but otherwise neither the theme nor their uniform are really creatively expressed, and thus making one not really better than any of the others in this category. Doesn't mean they're bad though, so sorry if I offended anyone. Considering what I said, I suppose excluding Vento is a bit unfair, but his pic exudes a certain aura that draws me in (and it's a bit more elaborate).

EP: Reimu's facial structure makes her look quite handsome. Otherwise, the sword was a bit in the way and since it wasn't a full body pic, I couldn't really make a good judgement about the uniform as a whole.

At first, it wasn't even in my vote list, and as I looked at it again and again... It grew on me, and is now one of my favorites. The customization of her costume, the expression, the dolls, the weapons, those boots <3 Everything is wonderful.

It comes off as a great, to me. I like the more "regular" army suit, instead of Nazi generals suit (Although they were all awesome as well) that seemed to be the trend :V I'm amazed at how well it fits Sanae, and I chuckled at the dialogue.

Special mention to Pasu and Merp in particular, who looked really awesome. Sadly, I think Merp's isn't "Touhou" enough (...I honestly have a hard time recognizing people) while Pasu's isn't "military" enough. It's just my (incredibly not relevant) opinion, though.

I think Kaze's idea is the most badass. I like the flamethrower arm and the scene inside the cape. The main problems I can point out are the hat being too high, as was mentioned already, and her wings seemingly not being connected to her body.

Second pick was a tough call between Sixten and Vento, but Hina dressed as Darth Vader is too amusing to resist.

+2 Freeze: Super high level drawing. Looks military and preserves enough of Flan to let you know it's her. Has the proper feeling of power and intimidation.

+1 Vento: Looks like it could be a winner, but not a runaway winner like the first week. Amazing costume and drawing, but the manliness that worked really well with Miko doesn't work so well with Alice. The bright green eyes also made me think Parsee.

Crow: Nice concept, and has nice shading and texture. Try putting another layer on  top of the drawing, and use that layer to draw the outline of the body underneath the  costume. The problems with the outline should help you correct.

KazeSenshi: Great concept and costume design. Some anatomy problems, but it looks like you got the face right. Oddly, I don't like the cape full of  explosions.

Pasu:    Very well drawn and very cute (as redundant as it would be to say that about any Pasu piece). I don't think it works as a military outfit though.

Merp: Well drawn, but all the characters look the same to me. I have to study the picture to determine who they are.

Necro: Actually pretty well drawn. The boots go great with the costume but I don't know how the feet would look if the boots were taken off.

Desu_Cake: Nice outfit. Hands could be better.

Piranha: Nothing to say, nothing pops out as particularly bad or good.

Vyrien: Gorgeous outfit. The gun is very well drawn.

EP: One of the best drawn things I've seen from you. Appropriate use of genderswap.

Bound: Great concept, awesome exotic costume. Goes very well with your style.

Pwn'd crow  That samurai suit looks good! And I love how you fixed the small details, that made Yuyuko recognizable in all the armor that samurais have.
Bound  This costume really fits Ichirin! And this was really cool, especially the genie-in-a-lamp thing with Unzan.
Pasu I really loved that Medicine! But i have to agree with the others that it didn't show enough, um military feels?
Sixten Oh my those fabulous perspectives!  Also Kanako and Hina looks great! I like how the big octagon frame gave you a focus on Kanako as well.
Merp This was cool and had an very war-like setting, but the lack of characteristics made the faces look a little to similar. (This was probably mostly because of the lack of colour, but I think having it would have made it lamer.)

Appraisal for everyone because I've been stingy in the past.

Vento: I really love the dynamics of the piece and ceremonial military is awesome.

Freeze: As always, excellent technique. Such a pity (again) it's not finished but I love the execution of the idea.

Crow: Improvement shines through. Great piece but could have maybe done with a touch of colour.

Kaze_Senshi: I do like the idea and a mine explosion cape is great, there are some issues that have already been addressed, however.

Pasu: I love the concept and the colouring, poison mask is a really great touch.

610: Amusing concept and those are some excellent fighters in the BG, I'd like to see more pencil-work from you in the future.

Merp: Reich uniforms are kind of a big deal, I really like how it looks like an old photograph. Atmosphere is excellent as per usual.

Necrotastic: I like kit you gave her and colours are nice. I would like to see a more refined drawing next time as it seems a tad sketchy, also something strange is happening with her left foot.

Bound: As others have mentioned, the concept is incredibly fitting of Ichirin, I can't help but feel that her pants are a bit low, however.

So the Guilty Aliceball Tournament is four weeks old now and the Drama Queens (Merp, Vento, Vyrien, and Pasu) have taken home the Pasu O'Brien trophy every single week. Which begs the following questions:

1. "Merp-Vento-Pasu" spells "MVP". Could this be the start of a new Drama Queens art dynasty that dominates the Atelier in the same way that Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls dominated the NBA in the 1990's?

2. With Vyrien being the only member of the Drama Queens who hasn't won the trophy, the pressure will be on her in the coming season. Will she choke under the pressure, or will she rise to the occasion and become the second V in "MVP"?

3. It is universally acknowledged that Freeze is the best artist on the forum, and his multiple second-place finishes attest to this. But why hasn't he won the trophy yet? Does he have issues off the court, or is he just not capable of being clutch? Or could he be a once-in-a-generation phenomenon like Jerry West or LeBron James, who spent many seasons waiting for the stars to align before they won their championships and took their place among the legends of the game?

4. Will another team emerge to challenge the Drama Queens dynasty? Rumors have been circulating about an alliance between wily old veteran Sixten, transcendent talent Freeze-Ex, three-time Sixth Man of the Year Kinoko, and 2013 #1 overall draft pick Maullar. Could they be the next Miami Heat?
