>"That's your call." Rin says promptly.

>"Well...." Rin purses her lips in thought. "Give her a minute. Still nice here, and she might quit. After that, though... Yeah, it might give me a headache."

>Rin's mouth opens and closes, then she nods. "Understood."
>Fortunately for your kasha, the swooping-winged miko puts her pipes away after only a few more seconds, much to the dismay of her fairy companions. Rin, however, sighs quietly in relief.
>"Think I'd be used to that by now." she mutters, rubbing her right ear slightly. "Some sounds still get ta me, though."

>Has she complained about noises around the house before?

>"Downside ta havin' these ears, I guess."
>While you're only heard her complain about the high pitched tone one of Nitori's power tools, you have seen her wince or flinch in pain a few times since you acquired her, usually at sounds you couldn't hear. It's very common for animal youkai to have sharp hearing, but Rin's seems to be more sensitive than sharp.

>Rin nods twice. "Couldn't live without em."
>She is indeed ticklish, though not extremely. You, she and Marissa visited a public bath house last month, and while Marissa was washing Rin, you noted Marissa's discovery that Rin's flanks were sensitive to ticking.
>Because tails are awesome. You must play with them.

>"I have sometimes wondered what it would be like to sense the world as a youkai might - to hear or see or smell things as a human cannot."
>But I suppose these other new senses we have come upon offer something not dissimilar from that experience, no? To feel the world around you as it was never quite before.

>"Ain't every youkai that got ears or noses like that. Lookit dog youkai. Thier eyes ain't much better than humans, on average. Worse for some of 'em."
>Still feels kinda weird, though. Like, I know I got all this new power now, new senses, but I'm still not sure how to... Turn em on. she finishes after a moment's thought.

>You may find that if their use became necessary, the 'how' would come to you unbidden. That being said, I would be happy to guide you through the process, at least as best I can, when we are somewhere less likely to be observed.

>Well, you said you could-
>As Rin starts her telepathic message, one of the fairies following the miko emits a volumnous squawk of "Catch me if you can!", and takes off forward, towards the lake. The two blondes sharing the air with her waste little time in pursuing their friend, and Rin ducks instinctively as the shorter of the two passes rather close over top of you both.
>The kasha curses quietly in Eire as she raises her head again.

>Where was I... Oh yeah. You got a better sense for things out here than I did, like that ghost ya mentioned. I never noticed anything like that, 'till you told me, gave me somethin' ta look for. How'd you sense that?

>You do the best you can. There isn't as much to explain as there might have been, since it seems, in your experience, to be little different than using a sense like smell or sight: focusing on a sensation. Only you do it with you mind and your heart instead of your eyes or your ears.
>Lemme give it a shot. Rin says, then turns her head towards the lake. She seems to hesitate, however. Well, if you think I should. I don't know how... well, obvious I might be.

>Do you mean visibly, if someone is watching? Or if someone could someone detect even this use of our power? For the former, I could simply tell you if I felt you might be looking too obviously. For the latter... well, I suppose I had not even considered that possibility. But since I have already done so, I suspect there could be no further harm in you doing so as well.

>Rin looks thoughtful for a minute, then shakes her head. Think I'd better wait. Best not to take no chances if we don't have to. 'least while there's a miko dat close. She indicates the curved-winged shrine maiden behind you with a casual toss of one of her tails.

>Good point. Though that does give us a chance to consult on something I'd noticed as far as the whole group of Ring Holders. We seem to have a flower theme going, Mine is Lotus, And there's also one themed on the Lily, and Chrysanthemum. I'll be sure to introduce you to them sometime soon.

>One thing I have noticed though, is that the flower has a deep connection to who that person is. For example, the one tied to Chrysanthemum, that is what her name actually means. And she does have a very orderly nature to her, much like the blooming of one. And when you think about it, the one tied to the Lily does has a feeling of serene purity and kindness. I believe you already know her, if you take into consideration that the name's the same in either form.

I rather enjoy it myself. I only wish I was more knowledgeable on the subject.

>Perhaps so. It symbolizes many things, depending on where you look. The meaning I know best is representing purity of mind, body and speech, as it floats over the muddy waters as one should float above worldly things.

>Have we seen one ourselves?
>For that matter, would we know someplace around here where they might be found?

>You have indeed.
>First one that comes to mind is Meiling's garden. Your school groundskeeper keeps a fairly extensive flower collection, located in three places around the school grounds: a little greenhouse, on the north side of the main building, and on the roof of said. It's quite likely that Rin has seen a lotus flower there, but didn't know the name of it.
>They can also be found in the lake in the Saigyouji Memorial park, and in the botanical garden attached to the university, as well as the arboretum that can be found on the east side of town. Mayoiga also boasts at least three flower shops you know of, at least one of which would certainly offer lotus blossoms.
