>How did we take down the likes of Konngara anyways?
I think I asked this before, and can't remember what the answer was =|
>When you challenged her for ownership of Rin, she named the battlefield. She chose tennis, your sport. She wanted to beat the Morning Star at her own game, she claimed. And she was quite a challenge, too. She had a devastating serve and a cannonating overhand volley, which made it very hard to play a defensive style of game against her. But her net game was somewhat weak, and she had trouble executing shorter drop shots. The challenge was for a best two sets out of three match. She took the first set, but you took the subsequent two, ending with a final score of 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.
>You've often seen her practicing her tennis game since that day, and she has been improving. If she challenged you again, the match could be practically a toss up.
No worries. I don't think it's actually been addressed since episode one, and that was actually over a year ago. Good lord, a year...
>"Yes. She owned a slave, a feline youkai named Rin, and treated her... well, badly. So I challenged her for ownership and won."
>"I think I'm ready to go a bit faster."
>Kiku steps up the pace, up to about the speed of a fairly brisk walk. You place your hands on her flanks for a bit of extra stability, but you think you can handle this pace. You have to admit, though, it's an odd sensation riding on the back of an animal that didn't have a saddle, and not entirely a stable one. It'd take an experienced rider to stay on at the speeds you know a tiger can reach.
>"Ah, yes. I believe I heard some of my sisters gossiping about that incident. I admit, a human challenging an oni in that way is a rare sight, so I didn't think much of it, at the time."
>"Still, if that oni is carrying a wound to her pride, that could prove to be an obstacle to us. We can ill afford any more enemies, mortal or not, until we deal with the remaining problems."
