Finally captured every spell in Imperishable Night with Ghost Team!  I had 200 or so with them a while back, the rest with assorted other characters, and only now have I finally gotten through the poorly designed piece of garbage that is Alice's Last Word with them.
Seriously, if anyone can tell me how that's a good card, I'm listening.
It's memorization and nothing more.

Have you tried slipping through the rings in Minoriko's first spell as they make the last pause before expanding? Maybe it's useless if you still have to wait for another wave to get the most faith.

It's hard, but doing that would probably finish the spell one wave earlier. The spell bonus would be somewhere around 100k higher maybe, but I didn't think it was worth the extra risk considering all the other places where I could have done better. I only ended Stage 1 with something like 146k faith, whereas my best is somewhere like 149k, which would already be a few million points more in the end. The Stage 1 faith count mostly comes down to luck, anyway; nothing else is so dependent on getting favourable boss movements.

Died to the 4th non. Decided to finish it anyway. Died to the non right after that, did not care. Died to DBDB in a really stupid way, decided to go on. Died to DBF's second wave. Hahaha that was a good one.

And hey, some shitruns later, I achieved 1b Phantasm on every shot. I guess easymode is up next. The Phantasm runs were really bad, so I am hoping to return to it some day. - 1,1b on every shot would sound like a better goal, but maybe I could reach 1,2b, if I played really well and improved the routes a bit. Oh well, that's the future, so nobody knows for sure. I'll blog more some day.

Not sure if anyone else has one currently (at least for the Windows games, I don't know how to determine if any PC-98 records here are WR), but dot_asp used to have the record for UFO Extra MarisaA for about a month last April, and I know I've seen Heartbeam several times in the WR history.

So close to 1M Cherrymax!

This was... unexpected. I rarely play on ReimuB and the route is really odd for me, which lead into the run being clouded by deaths. Six of them, in total. I did totally not expect to make a new personal Cherrymax record and a new personal high-score. The run was O.K. I could definetly get that 1,5b, this was encouraging.

Normal seems like a really good difficulty in PCB, I like it a lot. The game's system is really interesting as well, and I still have a long way to go to fully learn it. And while my scores are rather low, achieving those numbers feels pretty darn good.

Huf, maybe I'll stall my "get a score for every shot on every difficulty"-thing for a while and do some more Normal. Maybe.

PoFV Lunatic 1cc - Reisen

The game that's given me more ire than UFO.

It also has a cruel sense of humor; out of 5 rounds versus Eiki, only two passed the two minute mark. Then there's that time with Marisa when I passed the 2:30 mark twice and got past 3:00 once and didn't get the 1cc. Not that I played badly this time, but I did have some unbelievable deaths as per usual. Random spirits, fairies spawning at idiotic locations, releasing the charge button too early and thinking you're invincible, somehow triggering the bomb button on accident, the works.

Thank you Seiga & IHNN for prompting me to do this. Jesus crap I'm done with this game for a while though.

Fun fact: Score was 122144590, but my high score is 128540400, in a run where I failed to 1cc. How close would that be to a WR after considering clear bonus?

Assuming this is a serious question, I don't think anyone keeps track of world records in this game. The high score on this site (my own) is 144mil, but there's only one other score on the list, so it doesn't mean much. In any event, you get 10mil per extra life remaining, and assuming you cleared on the last life instead of dying, you wouldn't get any extra life bonus. IIRC, the clear bonus on the last stage is usually ~30mil, depending on how many rounds you played against Eiki herself, so I guess you'd be at about 160mil.

And by the way, to be honest, I think PoFV is harder than UFO, at least with the crummy characters.

If I recall correctly, the only reason I got so high was because I lost plenty of lives (which resulted in huge end-of-'stage' bonuses). I'm pretty sure I got to Eiki with around one spare life (two tops) so I don't think I would have gotten as much as 30 mil.

Heartbeam also has a WR scene in DS and Dodgeball has one in StB.

Anyway, I tried some Yoshika in spell practice and managed to capture heal by desire while farming enough spirits to enter trance (if it had been done in the actual route), waiting with the final slash for 4 spirits to spawn and everything! Maybe 2 billion Youmu Normal in TD will be reached one day?

Which characters are hardest to clear with? Lunatic mode

It's hard to say definitively. Personally I had the most difficulty with Sakuya, Youmu, and Lyrica. Partly because it's hard to earn extends as those characters, and also because they're just hard to use. Weird movement speed and scope styles, etc.

Mystia's not so bad because her scope has good distance and comes out quickly. Her ability to attract the spirits also helps a bit, I think.
