>"You'd have gotten yourself buried and I don't like digging through rocks. You might want to step back a bit."
>Move back a bit from the noise so we don't get a wall of dirt falling on us

> You move back a bit, you don't want to get crushed.

>Rather than move back a bit, try to get everyone out of the tunnel first, we don't want to cause a cave-in.
>Get ourselves ready for the mon coming out of the tunnel, and share our Signature Spell with it.

> Actually, this whole cave isn't all that secure. You believe it was created very recently and has never stood the test of time, so you decide to fall back a bit farther.

> You follow the cave's twists and turns a couple hundred feet before you find Keine and Riley. They both have their pokemon out, a Lucario and a Turtwig, and the way back is blocked. Taking it's place is a network of brand new tunnels in every direction - up, down, left, right, and all the directions in between. The ground trembles, then you hear a roar, and a giant snake bursts out one wall and into the other as Keine and Riley follow it with attacks.

> "Ah, good, you aren't buried alive," Keine says. "We're having a teensy bit of trouble finding the surface, so..."

>When the golem gets through, Fujiwara Volcano it.
>In fact, go postal with the flames; that Entei ran away but this guy's going nowhere.

> Under the roar of the snake, you hear clanging again. It sounds like the golem has broken free. You prepare to go postal with the flames when it comes back into your line of sight.

>Make Cirno deal with evacuation. She might as well be useful and telling Keine that we're about to nuke a Registeel should be enough.

> "Gonna go nuke a Registeel. Keine, Cirno, work on getting out of here."

> "Understood," Keine says.

> "And let you have all the fun? Fine." Cirno gets out her turtle and joins Riley and Keine.

I bet ten bucks this is gonna fail horribly.

> You have no confidence Cirno will succeed. You do want to watch the results though.

>Watch Cirno fail horribly rather than to fight since we haven't had a good laugh for a while.

> You glance behind you. Cirno uses her phone as a flashlight and she and Squirtle jump right in through a hole. "Hello? Mr. Steelix? Come out come out wherever you are! Ah there you are. Would you like to go on an adventure with me?" You hear a huge roar come out of the hole, followed by shouting "HEY! I LIKE MY HEAD! I need it to think sometimes! Squirtle, use water gun! STOP CHARGING YOU JERK! You're making it really hard to catch you. AW GOD DAMN IT CUT IT OUT!" The shouting is occationally punctuated by roars and loud shattering noises, sounds like 'Steelix' doesn't like Cirno much.

> Turn our back to the group and wait for Iron Man.

> This proves easier said than done, due to all the chaos behind you and the fact that they don't sound like they have the situation under control. But then again, you don't either, so you rely on them for the Steelix as the iron golem lumbers forward one clang at a time. Just when the clanging sounds like it's on top of you, it stops. You suspect that the Registeel is very close, but you know it hasn't rounded the bend ahead of you yet.

>Alternatively, if we think that we can hit it where it's hiding out (likely by blasting away the bend), unleash the fury anyway. It might just be smart enough to know that it's going to get ambushed if it turns the bend.

> The Fujiyama Volcano spell throws a ball of exploding fire behind a curtain of normal fire, it basically works like a magical grenade that you can stretch out into a volley of magical grenades, alongside an absurd amount of ordinary flames. The cave is untested and most likely formed by that Onix those grunts from earlier had. You can easily attempt to blast away the bend, alongside any dirt above the bend, or you could wait out the registeel.

> You would not be surprised if it knows that you're around the bend, due to Riley's flashlight and your flames being the only sources of light in the entire cave.

> If the others get through, let the grenades fly.

> You decide to stick with the regular fire while the others try to break through. A glance back shows that Riley's having his Lucario dig through the cave in.

> "Get back here you stupid..." you hear Cirno shout, the echo resonating throughout the cave. One of the walls behind you bulges outwards before bursting open, Steelix tunneling through the cave with Cirno chasing behind. You turn your attention back to the registeel.

> It comes out of hiding, hands crackling with arching static current. You fill the cave with fire, scorching the earth. It makes an unearthly wail while placing it's hands forward.

>Unless it would hit Keine and Riley if we move, then we fight electric thing with fire.

> You keep an eye on the electricity. You aren't exactly sure if it would hit Riley and Keine or not, since you don't know how the attack works.

>If we have anything better than a pokeball, use that instead.

> You have a premier ball, although whether that's any better is debatable.

> Eh, worst comes to worst you could always knock it out first.

>As it's distracted and in pain, quick do a FirePokeballBrofistInTheFaceTrick!

> You aren't completely sure what that is, but your arm's pretty much healed up from before if a little sore, so you decide to try it. You hold a pokeball in your hand, light your hand on fire, and charge to fire punch the thing. It lets you get right up to point blank range before trading a horrible shock with your punch, and while it gets absorbed into the pokeball it almost immediately breaks out. You now feel very numb and the iron golem is looming over you.

> You have 2 pokeballs and 1 premier ball remaining.

I think this is closer to show rules than game rules (in the show, IIRC, Pokemon are usually caught after going down. It's only in the games that the catch has to be made before fainting).

(Darnit! I screwed up!)

>Possessed by Phoenix
>Frag Grenade Spam

> Possessed by Phoenix is an odd, painful, and difficult spell where you destroy your body completely to do a complicated possession ritual. You are able to remove yourself from the battlefield by placing yourself behind their eyes and launch fire and other attacks almost immediately on top of them. You usually do it when you're body is being completely anihilated anyway. You can't usually maintain this spell for long periods of time, especially without preparation, but you can cancel it at any time.

> On the other hand, you were just electrocuted, so your movement is limited anyway. The mental image of a stun gun hooked directly up to a third rail comes to mind. You've been meaning to build a tolerance to electricity, it hadn't been an issue until electricity was introduced to Gensokyo, so you haven't had much experience yet with recovering after being shocked.

> You decide to do it anyway. You toss out a half dozen grenades before blowing yourself up completely in front of Registeel, shaking apart the cavern itself. You then attempt a possession of the creature. You succeed; you're a tad disoriented by seeing through seven eyes at once, but that doesn't stop you from letting out your wings of fire, dripping flames from their tips across the cavern. The creature is charging away from both your attacks and the crumbling parts of the cave, towards Keine and Riley. Although it's an odd charge, as though its batteries are about to die; starting off fast, but quickly the clanging tapers off.

>This time, we torch it until it goes down. Try to keep distance too - it would probably kill us if we got hit and that's always troublesome to explain.

> In a sense, keeping your distance is impossible during this spell, but you're also untouchable in this state. Though the disappearing act you just pulled will be troublesome to explain regardless.

>Fondly regard reaction of Cirno

> Cirno is currently shouting at the top of her lungs for the steelix to stop being such a jerk, and doesn't notice much else as she hops after it from hole to hole. She has a surprisingly one-track mind at the moment.

>Fondly regard reaction of Keine

> Keine has redirected all her Turtwig's attacks at Registeel, keeping an eye on the walls.

>Fondly capture...oh god where are the Pokeballs?

> Right where you left them - in your bag. However, your bag is halfway across the tunnel, alongside your jacket. Next time you're in a pokemon center, you note to place the same enchantments you use on your pants on the insides of your shirts and jacket as well, as both your clothing and your bag are badly singed. You probably should have done that sooner, but it's a time consuming thing that you never really needed to get around to.

> Ensure that Registeel has been stopped and then cancel the spell.

> Registeel's clanks slow down bit by bit until it stops mere feet away from keine. It makes one last wail, then falls over forward. You decide to cancel the spell. You then attempt to reform as close to your bag as possible and put your shirt back on, since you already have enough to explain to Riley. It should be noted that you are aching like hell and still stiff from the electricity from before, the side effects of that spell are NOT fun.

> Though you think the Registeel is down and out.

> You're tempted to name it after Fujiyama Volcano too. Either would work.

> Anyway, you're a tad distracted by the rampaging Steelix Cirno is dealing with. You'll also have to think of something to say to Riley, he may be preoccupied for now, but when things quiet down he'll have lots and lots of questions. They always do.

> Well, they don't in Gensokyo, but generally speaking non-believers have lots and lots of questions.

> For now, you recongize a need to deal with this Steelix issue. And by deal with it, you mean either help Cirno out, or laugh at Cirno's handling of it. You're very sore and very stiff, but your pokemon are fine for the most part.
