Mokou Crosses Over into Pokemon, The Text Adventure

> The Sudowoodo growls at you, then places both its arms backs in the air. The tree-creature seems intent on imitating trees, and has little interest in fighting you. You suppose that it would fight back anyway if you prodded it again. You contemplate whether you wish to continue to the National Park and ask Patchouli about the tree later, fight with the tree, or take some third option.

> You decide to leave the tree-thing alone. You pass straight by it and head to the National Park to catch a Beedrill. When you arrive at the main gate, you see a park ranger declaring a last call for some sort of bug catching contest. You approach the ranger.

> "The rules are simple ma'am, We take your pokeballs and give you 5 park balls. You take one pokemon in and are permitted to catch a bug-type pokemon from the normally-restricted northern half of the park in an hour - the balls won't work if you try for a second pokemon. Whoever comes back to the gate with the strongest, biggest, and healthiest bug before the time is up wins an evolution stone of choice and 1000 P. Plus, all competitors get to keep their bugs. Care to try?"

> "Sure thing ma'am," the ranger says, taking your other pokemon and replacing your pokeballs. He directs you to the starting point, some 20 feet away where you see 6 other competitors. There are two kids with butterfly nets with one net labelled "Ed" and the other "Benny", a older kid with a great deal of camping equipment, a yougster with no equipment, an older man gushing over his yellow rat thing, and a man in his 20's furiously checking his pokedex. You think you have some time to talk with them before the contest starts.

> As you speak with the child, the ranger blows an air horn. "Welp, its bug catching time. Good luck out there lady!" The competitors all rush into the woods. You decide to take the child's advice and head northwest. In about 15 minutes you see a clearing full of giant bees on your left. There's about 20 of them, and they all have giant stingers where you would expect hands.



> You decide to geat a bearing on your surroundings before rushing in. You are in a wooded area next to a large clearing full of beedrill. Looking around, you happen to spot another odd, giant bug with scyths for hands above you in the trees.

> Come to think of it, you're not even sure whether she is freaked out by bees, or if she was freaking out because of a swarm of them. You imagine her being swamped by 20 of those beedrill things and crack a smile. You doubt she would like any bugs after that, but you figure if she didn't hate bees before, she'll probably abhore them now. Still, you have to admit that scyth thing is really cool and looks pretty tough to boot.

> On a hunch you think that the scyth-bug is more likely to win you the contest, but you really would like a Bedrill to throw at Kaguya. Too bad your pokeballs were confiscated, since these cheap ones stop working once you've caught the first bug. These contest rules are annoying.

> You think back, and recall that in the woods (off the road) between Violet and Cherrygrove there are supposedly beedrill. You check your pokedex to see where the pokemon appear, and discover that Beedrill are fairly widespread though never on or near the main roads which makes them a hike to reach. Then you use your pokedex on the other bug.

> "Scyther, the Mantis Pok?mon. Its claws are sharp as swords, and it is a powerful flyer. This Pok?mon is rarely seen by humans and almost never captured." The pokedex indicates that while they do exist in National Park, they are somewhat harder to find then Beedrill.

> You let Flint out of it's pokeball, and consider possible strategies for catching the Scyther. You can attack it, wait and see, try a ball, etc. You do not believe time is an issue, it takes 15 minutes to get back, giving you half an hour to capture the pokemon.

Flint dodges it's attacks, and is nicked during its counter-peck. Flint is now bleeding slightly, those blades cause some serious damage, a direct hit will most likely leave Flint incapacitated. At least the peck hit its mark.  Scyther recovers from the blow, and is about to charge again.

> None that you know of. It might know whirlwind from that gym battle? Still, you're outside and you don't want to blow the thing away, so you'll have to make do with non-ranged attacks.

> Flint dives in, hits, and keeps right on going, making it impossible for Scyther to land a clean hit, and difficult to even land a glancing blow. After a few more dive-and-runs, Scyther's having trouble standing up. It looks like Flint took a few scrapes in the exchange too, they're both pretty worn out.
