Little Busters! Anime is official
« on: April 10, 2012, 02:51:15 PM »
Little Busters! is getting an anime adaptation. It was leaked out a few days back but now it's been officially announced.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-04-09/little-busters-anime-produced-by-j.c-staff

It's going to be done by J.C. Staff, and directed by Yoshiki Yamakawa. It's sounds fairly promising, and they're going to follow the main storyline as much as possible. I'm guessing it's going to be at least a 24 episode anime.

Thoughts?

Good god. I can't see this being only 24 episodes, unless they cut out the at least four episodes at the beginning that have to be dedicated to the slice-of-life common route since they're fitting in the EX routes, too.
They should really change Riki's voice actress, since he has pretty much the same voice as Rin.
For route order, maybe Rin1>Haruka/Mio/Kud>Kurugaya>Komari>Rin2 and Refrain would work. Cutting out all romance except for Rin would work pretty nicely here, since Riki has absolutely no chemistry with any of the heroines at all. Kud's route will be interesting, though, seeing as how she pretty much

broke the chains just so she could see him again.

J.C. Staff has better not fuck this up. List all the Not-Kyoani VN adaptions that were actually good. :V

Not KyoAni? Well, this is busted then. I mean KyoAni was down under for me for a while due to K-On, but now this.

The Key Twitter account continued by stating that in order to best adapt the game into an animated series, certain key events would be presented out of the game's chronological order and that the series would have a higher than average episode count, but be shortened significantly in order to best present the story in an animated form.

Lol, well from the looks of it they're mechanical. Honestly, it wouldn't be that hard to make one yourself given a keyboard and some good planning. That gives me a good idea, I should totally go make  a keyboard.

> HAHAHA, NO.

seriously guys, I don't think it is that much of a difference, because clearly JC Staff knew they are hitting a very big fanbase here they don't wanna hit it badly.
and besides... what's so good that KyoAni can do JCStaff can't?

Well, yes, there's some very high stakes here. Fuck up and there's no real problem, but make it amazing and they get Rewrite as well. I'm saying that it'll be very hard to adapt into a linear format, and a company that does mostly mediocre shows at best just might not be able to do it. Kyoani, on the other hand, managed to make shitty and boring things like K-ON! fun and not shitty, and their Key adaptations are pretty decent. I don't think JC has made a VN adaptation or a nonlinear story for a while...

Also, animation. Find a company that can do more consistently good animation than Kyoani.

animate at a frame rate higher than 15 fps?
refrain from shitting up stories with their own original characters?

still gonna watch it, but I will not be surprised at all when JC Staff grinds up the narrative into pink slime and squirts it into another mass-production rom-com sausage casing

Are you serious? I might as well just buy a Razer keyboard and then put a sticker on it. Then again, it's kanade, so I'm pretty sure there's tons of die-hard fans that would buy it.

I'm probably going to split the chances up to 50/50. 50 they can do it well. 50 they screw it up.

Seriously, though. I woudn't be suprised if being a merchandise cow is all the thing will be good for.
Of course, the pedos will want more Kudo. :I

Frankly, JC Staff obviously worries me more than KyoAni, but I think it's too early to count it out.

As for content, good to see that it will have a good episode count which is all that matters. Of course the story has to be changed; anyone who thinks otherwise obviously haven't actually finished the game - the original storyline is basically impossible to adapt as is.

Really though, I trust Key for pumping out great works, so if its staff decides JC Staff is capable of doing this, then I will trust their decision for now.
